Requesting Help finding a lost "Piece" of music.

Years ago, a choir I was in performed a piece of music called "Piece". It's an SATB song that describes singing with sheet music and the funny things that can happen in a choir performance. I can't remember everything about the song but here are some of the parts I do remember:

"Tenors enter early...then they enter in their proper place. We are at their mercy"

"Then a section...with...rests...one must be so careful...not to fall into the rest."

"Pushing inexorably towards a cadence in B-minor at the page turn (page turn)"

It's a pretty silly song but I cannot seem to find any evidence of it online. I have searched IMSLP and ChoralWiki but did not have any luck. If anyone has an idea of where I might find this hidden gem, I would be so grateful. I performed this in Alberta, Canada in 2003 for a reference of era and region.

Call out! Choirs of Reddit - ever thought about singing in Ireland? 🇮🇪🎶

Hello from the City of Derry International Choir Festival!

We are an international choral festival based in Derry, Northern Ireland, welcoming choirs from across Ireland, the UK, Europe and beyond each October for performances, competitions, workshops and community events.

Choirs from Ireland/UK applications are open until the end of May, International Choirs - expressions of interest are being taken for Festival 2027

Since 2013, the festival has grown into one of the leading international choir festivals across these islands, bringing thousands of singers and visitors to the North West of Ireland each year.

We thought Reddit might be a good place to connect with choir singers, conductors, music educators and choral enthusiasts from around the world - and to share a little of what happens here during festival week.

Alongside our international and national competitions, the festival includes:
• community choral trails
• informal performances across the city
• workshops and Big Sing events
• youth and school programmes
• visiting international choirs
• lots of music, conversation and atmosphere

We’d love to hear:
What makes a choir festival special for you?

And if your choir has ever travelled internationally - where has been your favourite destination to sing?

Greetings from Derry!

Piece for Family to Sing at Wedding?

Hi All! I am looking for a piece for our family and extended family to surprise my sister at her wedding - likely at the end of the ceremony as a blessing. We ARE a musically versed family, but some may not have sung for awhile/it can't be TOO complex, as much as I'd love that. Of course there are classics (Rutter's Lord Bless You and Keep You, etc.), but I'd love to know of any others that would come to mind! I would need to be able to teach it in 3 rehearsals.

Most of the family reads music well, we may have one or 2 learning parts by ear. We should have a group of about 12 - likely 4 men, 8 women.

Bonus if it starts with 2 or 3 people, and then we can have the rest walk up and join!

Call for Respondents - Accessibility in Classical Music!

I’m doing research at the Royal College of Music on accessibility in professional U.S. classical music organizations (orchestras, choirs, opera companies, etc.). There is currently no research on the experiences of classical music performers with access differences in their places of work, so this research has the potential to be a big step forward toward a more accessible industry.

If you have anything you would like to share, please take the survey below! Or pass along to anyone you think might be interested! Anyone who has had a paid position as a classical music performer who has anything to share about access and inclusion in their place of work is eligible.

This survey has ethical approval through the RCM Research Ethics Committee (REC). Information collected is anonymous and confidential, and we won’t ask the name of any organizations.

Here is the link to the survey: https://forms.office.com/e/3rT5FWu7Cp

Please message me if you would prefer to see the survey in a different format. Thank you!

The choir was good but the ceiling clearly wanted top billing

Step in quietly and look up because the chandeliers have started their own little nightclub above the singers

White Christmas

Can anyone recommend a version of “White Christmas” for SATB? It can be acapella or piano accompanied. Please advise the publisher and arranger. Thanks!
