Was reading about the US mint in Manila the other day and did a quick Google search for US Centavos.
One more click and I was on eBay overpaying for a few new coins.” (Hey, shipping was free!)
Got them in a few days, and I’ve gotta say, best $3.99 that I’ve ever spent!
Were the minted in the Philippines? Nope!
And I have “no regerts.”
Found the quarter at a coinstar when I went camping last weekend and had to stop into the grocery store to buy firewood on the way.
Found the dime yesterday on my Sunday coinstar searches.
Then went on a jewelry hunt and found a few things.
Everything in pic 5 is marked 925 somewhere, and the dangly earring is marked both on the post and the back of the dangly part (as seen in pic 6)
Pic 7 is a weird evil eye pendant that is marked 14k, but as you can see in pic 8 it’s laser etched instead of stamped, which makes me think it may be/is probably fake. I REALLY gotta get a gold acid test kit soon.
Pic 9 is all the garbage jewelry/non precious metal stuff I found during the hunt.
And pic 10 is probably my favorite find of the hunt. Not marked or anything, so probably not silver, but dang is it cool! 😂
So yeah I’m going to be a grandfather. I’m laying up in the hospital dealing with the complications of cyclosporiasis. I love how such incredible news can make you feel so much better.
So I want to give my son a gift for my future grandchild. I thought about an ASE, mint set, GoldBacks, for each year but that seems too normal.
What would be a different kind of coin, bar, round, anything so long as it includes the year?
I have a friend who can engrave the birth date. I’m looking to do something out of the ordinary.
