Both were later minted again in 2000 and 2002. Although the coins are attributed to Somalia, they were never officially authorized by the nation's central bank, which was not even operating at the time.

Nothing special really, more of a token I suppose. My first African coin found while CRH.

Don’t get me wrong I love slabbed and protected coins, but I always wanted a set of silver coins that it didn’t matter if I handled. More of a guilty pleasure than anything else. Just got the Ike today. I bought a lot of 4 of them so I could pick the worst one.

I actually bought the 1949 Canadian dollar for this as well because I’m in love with the sailboat design. The listing made it look like it had been circulated and was just dirty. Now that I have it I can’t bring myself to have it just laying around. I really like the toning and it’s not circulated at all. I’ll have to find a downgrade at some point, but for now these will do.

I love how the light really brings out the blacks and grays in the combuster luster.

When I was a kid I had the whole Winnie the Pooh series. My Uncle passed down his to me when I was 3-4 years old. When I saw this coin it instantly transported me back to that time when I first opened the books. Sitting in my room on my round rug, letting my imagination develop and flourish.

My favorite character was always Eeyore. Just always upbeat and optimistic about life and his thistles down by the fence. But honestly I don’t think they are that tasty. Never did figure out why such a positive beacon would like something so bitter.

There are a lot of lessons in those books I still carry with me today. Being humble, honest, curating relationships with close friends, and if you’re gonna have some honey for dinner, make sure there is enough for everyone.

It’s actually raining and pretty blustery where I’m at today, and I couldn’t be happier. I love the rain. I hope everyone is having a great Wednesday.

There is a bank on my way home that allows me to get 20 dollars in change without an account. I don’t stop every day, just when I don’t have anything to hunt at home. Lo and behold, one of the four customer wrapped rolls had a silver Canadian quarter.

Last year I found silver Canadian dime, so now I have the pair. Looks amazing together. Canadian coins have always had amazing designs. One of my favorite coins ever is the 1949 Canadian dollar. I have several. Being an ex-sailor I think it just comes natural.

Maybe it’s because I’m not a doctor but finding not only one, but two in the same box? How long ago was this done? I feel an existential crisis about my whole life coming forward just by seeing them.

Who did this? Who are they? Could they not afford stamps and just get the itch one day and say, “screw it, laundry pen it is!”?

So many unanswered questions. It’s mind bottling.

Turns out the emergency was his wife giving birth to a healthy newborn boy, albeit a couple of weeks early. When I got there, a few things in the register were left for me to pick through.

I suggested he name the kid Jay Dryercoin Whatshisface, but they politely declined and instead named him Stephen.

Two skink nickel boxes in a row, which has only happened a couple of times ever, not even a good old shiny one. No NFIC halves, no silver dimes, nothing. Zilch.

Fuck censorship. If you don’t know by now there are automod setting that will automatically mute anyone anytime they comment or post. Simply because the Mod is the only one that likes to have answers. They use alt accounts to start an argument with you over something stupid then report you simply for arguing, then shadow ban you even tho the message says you said something inappropriate.
