r/cowboybebop

I just finished watching Cowboy Bebop for the very first time.

Wow. Literally all I can say right now.

This anime was so good, really good. It got me through some times and taught me a lot while watching it this June - July. I love how each character feels so real, each of them have something about them that I can relate to. Most of all Spike, I understand him a lot.

I loved how Spike seems like this really cool guy, badass martial artist cowboy who just doesn't care loll >!But deep down he is hurting almost everyday. He is so heavily traumatized by his past that he doesn't even know if he's alive or just dreaming, as someone who has experienced something very similar, I have to say they really presented it well in the show.!<

Also you're telling me this whole time Spike >!HAD A FAKE EYE?? Damn this dude is mysterious as helll lmao!<

Faye was also a really cool character. I appreciate that she's obviously super fine~

but that's not all there is to her character. In fact it's not even her main focus, and I love how Spike and Jet treat her as a real person not just "the female character"

What stuck out to me about Faye was that >!this whole time we see her trying to remember her past. Being awoken to a world you don't recognize is like being a child in an adults body, but getting no love. We see two different personalities this entire time with Faye, one is her badass bounty hunter side, the side she developed to protect and look after herself,!<

>!The other is the kind Faye from before, before she lost her memory in that accident. As she unlocks her memories and visits the places of her early life, she finds there's nothing and no one there for her. The thing she had taken for granted the whole time, being in the bebop with Spike n em was the place she truly felt at home. That was her true family!<

Im not gonna lie maybe I missed it but I didn't understand Jet that much lol he was cool

He really felt like a father figure this whole show, even though he is very obviously a little rough around the edges, it's very obvious that he is a care taker and loves the whole crew.

>!Not saying his backstory with the arm and being backstabbed wasn't deep or anything, but it didn't have the same impact as the other characters to me, maybe I just can't relate but I still loved the character. ALSO IS HE REALLY YOUNGER THAN SPIKE????! THAT CHANGES A LOT LMAO.!<

Ed was the GOAT, she was the reason we ever even got to a lot of the bounties, she lowkey carried a lot of the missions they were on and was super funny.

>!I love how Ed isn't perfect or makes any sense, after all look at where she grew up. Her father wasn't around either, the way she was acting the whole show was free, almost like she wasn't bound by anything but still had to figure everything out alone. !<

The Ending was just >!so sad, left me in tears but I can't say it was a bad ending. It suited the show but it just hurts to see that Spike was stuck in the past for so long, and it ended with his past catching up to him. It made perfect sense but it felt really heavy.!<

>!You're gonna carry that weight.!< - What does that mean? Was that for us or Spike? Was it positive, as in we can carry that, or is it negative as in something that will never leave us? Or maybe it's neither, just a reminder of what we have to carry as people?

Shinichiro Watanabe's animes always end with me seeing the world with a more open and more understanding view. And that's what I love about his anime's the most, this was most definitely one of the best anime/shows I have ever watched. Love yall as a community as well.

Other Cowboy Bepob Media

So I have Watched the Whole show and Movie and I am obsessed. I am wondering if there are other Cowboy Bebop media available. Like Game or Manga? I heard about the live action Movie, is it worth it?

Cowboy Bebop Fan Art (1998)

Cowboy Bebop was such a unique anime of its time, and to this day it still holds a warm place in my heart 🥀

The live-action Cowboy Bebop was an absolute trainwreck.

I know I'm super late to the party, but I finally bit the bullet and watched the Netflix live-action Cowboy Bebop after avoiding it like the plague. And holy crap, the casting, the plot, the fight choreo, the sets... it was every bit as trash as everyone said.
It honestly pisses me off because they ruined it so badly that we’re probably never getting another live-action attempt in my lifetime. It’s just depressing.
The worst part is they actually got the original Japanese voice cast back together for the dub, which makes it feel like an even bigger slap in the face to everyone’s hard work and passion. Am I just screaming into the void here? I heard somewhere that it was somehow vibe-checked and accepted in Japan, but there's no way, right?

Vicious Timeline

I always come back to this show, and how entrancing its world is. I’m unsure if this has already been discussed, so apologies if it’s a repeat, but I’ve been curious on where exactly do you believe certain things of our edgy swordsman click into the larger narrative. Gren is probably my favorite character, so the war time in specific I was wondering if we know when it clicks in to the bits and pieces of Spike’s backstory, do you think it was before Spike faked his death or after? Julia clearly was cautious enough of Vicious to warn Gren, so I’m assuming the war on Titan was just salt in the wound of the misery he was already feeling.

Also, I think I heard it somewhere we know that part of what made Vicious so inhuman and monstrous is his addiction to red eye? I know Vicious overall serves more as a narrative tool, but I would love to hear thoughts.

Why didn't Faye consider making money as a model?

I'm sure that would be a much safer and easier way to work off her debts.

Archival: Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door - Special Preview DVD (HELP NEEDED)

Hello, everyone! I said in my last post that I would rip and scan this DVD and archive it. Well, here it is! I do hope you enjoy it.

Still, it seems my work here isn't done yet. I couldn't figure out how to get the ISO Image itself. The DVD also has a Region Lock/Copy Protection which I, also, do not know how to get around... Because of this, we're missing access to the main menu screen of the DVD. If anyone can help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it!

Also, as the Interview Video is fully in Japanese with no subtitling/close captioning, I would love for someone to help translate and subtitle it! I will leave that to people in this community!

This is my first time ripping and archiving something so I hope everything is in order! I look forward to archiving other things in the future.

Please, help share this around if you can! Thank you!

(I really hope these archive links does not cause this post to be hidden...)

Can it be said that Jet and Spike were saddened when Faye(for a short time), Ed & Ein left or what?
