International Voter Drive 2026, for dual U.S.-Korean citizens and other U.S. citizens in South Korea

Hi- I'd like to make an announcement from Democrats Abroad, the official overseas branch of the U.S.-based Democratic Party with a chapter in South Korea. Since an extremely important election is coming in November, we're hoping to register more dual U.S.-Korean citizens and other eligible U.S. voters who live in South Korea.

We started our International Voter Registration Drive for 2026 with in-person and online events. If you know any eligible US citizens, they can register and request a ballot. Just send them this link: https://voteabroad.org/RedditVote26. As long as they'll turn 18 by election day, they're eligible.

If anyone wishes to learn more about what we're doing near you, you can find out more at https://www.democratsabroad.org/kr. We have regular in-person meetups and events online. If you have any questions about overseas voting or what we do, feel free to ask in the comments below.

(Medical Imaging) Year 12 student torn between ECU and Curtin

I'm aware posting in the Curtin subreddit is going to give me biased answers, but seeing the 11k members gives me hope that I'll get some good answers. I'll try post this on ECU too to hear both sides.

I've been stuck between the ECU sonography course and the Curtin medical imaging course for a while now, as in which one I should put as my first preference on TISC. I'm hoping I can get some responses from people currently doing the Curtin medical imaging course. From my knowledge, the Curtin course will qualify me for general radiography and CT radiography, but later specialities down the line like MRI will be on me to find training myself, whereas ECU will only train me in sonography ultrasound. The thing that draws me to ultrasound is the higher responsibility you have as a healthcare provider and significantly higher pay - now I know life's not all about money and everything but at the end of the day, its always nice to have.

I've heard that getting a training position in sonography after graduating in radiography is very competitive and a once in a blue moon opportunity sort of thing. (ECU does the workplace placements for you, or so they say they do, as since the ECU imaging course is very new the postgraduate diploma placements start in 2027.)

However, upon research, I've also learnt that employers prefer to hire people with both a background in radiography and sonography? And also ECU has a history of accreditation issues and the degree may end up being worth nothing?

Are there any medical imaging students here that could give me some wise words? How is the course at Curtin?

That's about it. Thank you everyone :)

Help me!!!

Hi everyone, does anyone know when we can expect to receive our digital degree certificates on My eQuals?
I need my digital degree certificate quite urgently for degree verification, but I haven’t been able to find a clear date for when it will be available.
Also, I noticed that Curtin’s second notification even contains information referring to 2025, even though it is now 2026, which makes the timeline even more confusing.
Has anyone graduating this year already received their digital degree certificate, or heard from Curtin Connect about when it will be issued?

Bachelor of Japanese degree questions?

Hi guys, as an online student I thought I'd pop on here to ask some questions since I don't have any friends doing Curtin with me (I graduated hs last year and my bestie and I did uni-ready together)!

If anyone has done a Bachelor of Japanese, or any degree related to language, do let me know:

- Are there availabilities for translator/interpretor pathways (as in units in psychology, literature, etc.)
Just asking this one due to the fact that in the degree (on OUA... OUA is a shit of a thing but I didn't wanna do the shit course it wanted me to do through Curtin) it has different sorts of electives, for example there's 2 Korean units, 2 Chinese units (don't ask if it's Mandarin or Cantonese since it doesn't state in the thing but I imagine probably Mandarin), there's even geography and digital media.
I rang up Curtin Careers and the lady basically just said "Yeah do some research" which didn't help because I've obviously been doing that ;-;

- Are there exams?
For this SP I've done "Introduction to Cultural Studies" (ENG100) and "Culture to Cultures" (CUR-COM155:) (not sure if those codes are correct since I legit just googled them 'cause I can't be bothered logging into Curtin to have a look lol), the semester period isn't done until 30 AUG but I've submitted everything so I'm pretty much done for now.

- What's the worst part of studying a language degree?
This one is purely just for fun plus if someone wants to rant.

Graduating tickets

I’m looking to see whether anyone has complimentary or additional guest tickets they will not be using for the 2026 Djiba Graduation Ceremony #2 at PCEC.

My family are flying over to Perth to be there for my graduation, and it would mean a lot to have as many of them as possible in the audience.

They are making the trip specifically to celebrate this milestone with me, so I thought I would ask here in case anyone has spare tickets they no longer need. I am very happy to pay a reasonable amount and organise everything properly and safely.

Please send me a message or comment if you can help. Thank you so much, I would genuinely appreciate it.

Course Switch

I got a low atar of 74 and I really want to get an admission in mbbs at curtin. I was looking at several other pathways apart from atar but I'm not sure which one to choose. Here's what I am considering:

  1. WA foundation from canning college

  2. Course switching

I'm really confused and stressed about what to do...

Clubs for introvert/sensitive people?

My reasoning is kinda long and boring but especially it boils down to this ; my phycologists wants me to socialise and make friends at uni (I don't have any ATM and I'm in 3rd year lol).

But, I usually don't become friends with people cause I find that they either treat others unfairly or just do something wrong which stays in my mind and I can't stop it from happening but it makes me not wanna approach said person ever again. These can be things like shouting at your lab partner or being disrespectful to the lecturer or just straight up lying to my face.

So honestly I found it better to just sit in corner and do my work until I have to go home - which I thought was find but apparently it's not healthy for me. I also have some health issues that I'm dealing with which makes going out a bit tricky at times which restricts the amount of people I meet on the regular.

So my question is, are there any clubs for people like us ? I'm studying engineering but all the engineering clubs just seem like a rat race for PRES hours and I know too many "bad" people in these clubs 🤦‍♂️ already.

It doesn't have to be a Curtin club, thou if it's at uni I'll probably feel safer. Thou any and all recommendations are appreciated 🩷.

Thanks ...

Engineering in perth - few qs

Hi so im currently in y12 and im considering engineering in uni, preferably mechanical or mechatronics. I was thinking bout doing the bahcelor of eng honours and commerce dual deg which is offered both curtin and uwa, but then i was also thinking of the bachelor of eng and maste rof philosphy combined degs at uwa.

My questions are:

  • Which uni is btr for engineering? Im thinking b/w uwa and curtin, but i heard uwa is more research based and those skills tend to stay in the industry for longer and u make lots of connections w the industry, however their eng programs arent accredited and apparently the eng program isnt tht good. Curtin on the other hand is technical based but apparently those skills are gonna die out soon, but their eng programs are accredited. I understand that maybe this choice could be depending on what i want, but what would be beneficial and work best with me wanting to do mechanical or mechatronics?
  • When employing, do employers look at what uni uve been to and make decisions based on tht?
  • Would law go well with eng and comm? I was thinking of doing the dual deg in eng and comm and then going the juris doctor pathway for postgrad law (which is in uwa)? Or shld i just do a law deg after my dual deg?

Would rlly appreciate sm help so i dont hv to stress over what i should do after uni. Thxxx

Do you go to Curtin Bentley Campus and are interested in trying a 'novel' food? - PARTICIPANTS NEEDED for a student honours research project!

Hi everyone!! ☺️

Do you go to Curtin Bentley Campus and are interested in trying a 'novel' food?

I’m a 4th year Psychology honours student conducting a study looking at how people perceive and respond to information given to them about a 'novel' food product. The study aims to better understand how people make decisions and form attitudes and behaviours towards what they eat.

The study involves:

  • 📝 Completing a short online survey (approximately 10 minutes)
  • 🌱 Collecting a free sample of the 'novel' food product off Curtin Bentley Campus!
  • 💭 Completing a short follow-up online survey 2 weeks later (approximately 5 minutes)

You can participate if you are aged 18+ and attend Curtin Bentley Campus regularly!

Participation is completely voluntary, and your responses will be kept confidential/anonymised in accordance with the study's ethics requirements. Curtin University HREC has approved this study (HRE2026-0349).

If you're interested in helping out, you can participate here: https://curtin.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9SrXa2PGRjCragC or scan the QR code in the flyer!

If you are a Curtin Psychology student and wish to participate through SONA, you will be awarded one point for each part and the study is titled as "Understanding Preferences for a 'Novel' Food"!

Thank you so much! Every response genuinely helps with my research ❤️
