Found at Japanese WW2 bunker in the Pacific

The hotel I am staying at has a Japanese WW2 bunker out the back of the property, I was having a look around it and saw hundreds of these things in a styrofoam box. Most were corroded into large clumps. On the front I believe it says LION (?) the reverse has 3 pin looking things. Any ideas what they are?

Fe[urea]6Cl3

We tried to grow ferric hexakis urea chloride crystals with my colleague, but didn't get anything out of the solution so we put it into the fridge and forgot it there. Two months later I found this and a crystallized mass on the bottom of the beaker. It's not as smooth as we hoped for, but at least something crystallized. The crystals look blue in the solution, but yellow in the air.

Oozing Sushi 🍣

What is this oozing sushi I found at Red River Gorge in Kentucky?

It’s about the size of a piece of sushi too. Top is a brown red with membrane brain texture. Bottom is white cream and looks spongy.

I’ve never seen anything like this one. Any idea on the ID?

Haven't removed duck weed from my tank in about 4 months and now it looks like deep bayou sludge

My nice chihiro light does an excellent job of growing duckweed and hornwort that proceeds to cut off the light to all the nice, fancy plants that I spent good money on and killing them if I don't regularly pull the hornwort and duckweed. My emotional support dog died early May, but was facing health issues for a bit before that, so I just didn't have the mental energy to keep up with it for over 4 months now. However, a recent drunk visit to the Vancouver Aquarium gave me some inspiration for my tank and the motivation needed to start clearing out that duckweed.

I have threatened to break into a fish keeping friend's house and dump this in his tank, but I actually have a client who keeps koi so I give her what I pull. I dog sat for her a few weeks ago and there was not a single sign that there was ever any duckweed in that pond. But I've had to deal with this because of a single piece that slipped through when I bought plants online once 3 years ago 😭

ps the 3rd photo is an after photo it was worse 😔

Had no idea my succulents could flower!

I’ve had these succulents for a few years and they’ve suddenly been popping out these insane flowers! They are very uncomfortable to look at but I keep staring at them

Small white specks found in empty wet cat food bowl?

We’ve found these left over in our cat’s wet food bowl. Does anyone know what they could be? They’re not moving. It’s been very hot in the UK, and we’ve had the windows open. Wondering if it could be some sort of insect eggs… is it bad if she ate these?

Some animals look like they were designed by a committee. And somehow, the committee nailed it.

This is the striped sun star, a many-armed sea star found in BC waters. Bright yellow body, blue-green stripes. Not exactly built for subtlety.

But it's more than a pretty face on the seafloor. Striped sun stars are predators, moving over the rocky ocean habitats on hundreds of tiny tube feet, hunting animals like sea cucumbers. Slow? Sure. Harmless? Not if you're a sea cucumber.

The striped sun star — one more reason to support the Great Bear Sea Marine Protected Area (MPA) Network.
