I'm mainly interested in aftermarket body parts such as bumpers, fenders, hoods, headlights, and other collision repair parts, especially for Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Subaru, and Nissan.

I'd love to visit factories, check out products, and potentially establish long-term business relationships for importing into the US.

Hi! I am looking to source jadeite and customise jadeite jewellery from GZ - a small batch to start with - to sell in the western markets. I’ve got a couple of ideas, but was hoping if anyone knows someone I can connect with to help? I am coming to GZ middle of next month. One thing I've noticed in China is that quite a few trading companies and middlemen present themselves as manufacturers. Some are pretty convincing. They can even arrange factory visits for you, with a factory technician who doesn't speak English standing next to a Chinese salesperson handling all the communication. So visiting a factory doesn't necessarily mean you're dealing directly with the factory itself.

A lot of people will tell you to check the business license and compare the company names. That can help, but it's not always reliable. Chinese companies often use English names that don't directly match their registered Chinese names. Also, many factories now let their sales managers build and operate their own export websites. It's not unusual for one factory to have several, sometimes even a dozen, different websites selling the same products.

On top of that, most foreign buyers don't have easy access to the Chinese business registration databases we use locally. So simply searching a company name online may not tell you much.

That said, there are still a few practical things you can check before spending your time visiting a supplier.

1. Start with the company name.

If the company name contains words like "Trading" or "Trade", there's a good chance you're dealing with a trading company rather than the actual manufacturer.

This isn't a perfect rule. Some factories have their own trading companies for export business. But if I'm choosing between several suppliers and want direct factory contact, I'd generally prioritize companies registered as manufacturers.

2. Ask for both their office address and factory address.

This is something I always pay attention to.

For many small and medium-sized manufacturers in China, the showroom, sales office and production workshop are located in the same industrial compound, or at least very close to each other. In my experience, they're often within a few hundred meters, usually no more than around 500 meters apart.

Of course, larger manufacturers may have separate sales offices, so distance alone doesn't prove anything.

But if someone claims to be a factory and their office is in central Guangzhou while their production facility is somewhere completely different, I'd ask a few more questions about the relationship between the two.

3. Ask for an immediate live video call.

This is probably one of the simplest checks you can make before visiting.

Ask the salesperson if they can show you their production workshop on a live video call, preferably right then rather than arranging something several days later.

You don't need a professional factory tour. Just ask them to walk from their office into the production area, show you a few machines and what is currently being manufactured.

A genuine factory salesperson working on-site can often do this fairly easily during working hours, although some factories have restrictions on filming.

A middleman working from a separate office will usually have a harder time arranging it immediately.

It's not definitive proof of factory ownership, but it can tell you quite a lot about how directly involved the salesperson actually is with production.

None of these methods is 100% reliable on its own. And working with a trading company isn't necessarily a bad thing. Some trading companies are genuinely good at what they do.

The important thing is knowing who you're actually dealing with, especially when someone is quoting you factory-direct prices and claiming to manufacture everything themselves.

Where is the best place to find someone who can help with sourcing?

We are looking for a short-term or freelance sourcing agent who is connected with reputable factories that can accept low MOQ but large overall quantities per month. Preferably manufacturers based in Dongguan or Guangzhou.

Our priority is efficiency in costs and suppliers who are willing to be in a long-term partnership with us.

We are going to Guangzhou on October 17-22 and within this time period we hope to meet and secure potential suppliers.

As a Canadian traveling in Foshan for the 5th time. I found Urcove by Hyatt to be my favorite by far. I had associates staying at $300 a night beautiful 5-6 Star hotels. They changed over to the Hyatt and loved it. I have stayed at the Louvre and Marriott. Beautiful hotels . But nothing beats Urcove by Hyatts location.

Great location for a tourist . There is a huge high-end shopping mall attached to the hotel. And a action packed night market right across the street. Every food option you can imagine less then 1-5 minutes walk. Every service you need is all around you. Massage , salons , banks. , 711, Starbucks, KFC , dominoes for those who need some north american comfort food Also has great rates. I've been here for 10 nights during the Chinese holidays. . Paid $75 Canadian dollars most nights. Went up to $100 during the holiday weekend. But thats understandable. Staff is awesome, very helpful. Breakfast was $10 and had a good selection of local dishes and American breakfast standard items.. highly recommended

After completing my online registration, I am looking for hotels near line 8 since i heard traffic could be crazy and public transit is a way better option.

Are there specific limits during canto fair?? For example, can I bring a ~20-inch suitcase for brochures and samples collected at the fair? What is the queue like?

For those who have visited several times, have you found quality products there? How do you confirm whether a supplier is reliable? Do you do the warehouse visit after the Canton fair?

I just moved to Guangzhou and struggle a bit with making friends as I‘m not super outgoing and most girls I‘ve met since I‘m here are Russians who are not interested in connecting with non Russian girls. Does anyone know where I can find an international community for westerners?

I'm here for 2 nights, and have an itch to play badminton.

Unfortunately I have no idea how to find a social here. I'm an intermediate player.

Anyone know of any socials and location? I would need to rent a racquet as well
