I'm working on a spooky management sim where you design and operate your own dark ride.

Hey everyone,

After the overwelming positive response I received last time, I'd love to share the latest gameplay of the Haunted House Management Sim I'm building.

It's a cozy-creepy management sim where you design and operate your own haunted house dark ride. Instead of a regular god-mode view, you sit behind an industrial operator dashboard and personally manage the whole attraction. It has a detailed pixel-art style and a cuty & spooky atmosphere.

I'm currently working very hard to get a demo ready for Halloween season. If you like, you can find more info and screenshots on the Steam page:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4480080/Scream_Operator_Haunted_House_Manager/

No Generative AI was used for the art, animations, code or assets. All (pixel) art and mechanics are created by either me, or the great artists I've been working with on this adventure.

If there are any questions or ideas, feel free to hit me up! I'll be super happy to discuss in the comments.

Any funny stories from scare actors that are double jointed

I have extreme hyper mobility in my shoulders that I use for scare acting. They bend in very unnatural ways and it freaks people out. I was wondering if this is a technique used by other people and if so, are there any funny stories?

If your haunt uses online waivers at checkout, the Colorado Supreme Court is about to issue a ruling you need to know about.

In 2022, a Texas man named John Litterer was in the middle of a lawsuit against Vail Resorts — he'd been struck by a snowmobile at Breckenridge. While the lawsuit was pending, he bought an Epic Pass for the next season and clicked through the purchase agreement without reading it.

That agreement released "any and all claims… including… anything which has happened up to now."

Both lower courts dismissed his case because of that click. The Colorado Supreme Court heard oral arguments just a few weeks ago and is deciding whether that result stands.

I wrote this up for HauntLaw because the questions it raises about click-through waivers may well apply to any ticketed attraction — haunts included. If you use an online waiver at checkout, this case is worth knowing about.

(I'm an attorney and member of the California State Bar. I run HauntLaw, a free legal reference for the haunted attraction industry.)

Ideas for a character's name

Hey folks! I'm working on a concept for a crazy sideshow host character and I've come up with pretty much everything except a name for him. I'm looking for an old fashioned name, as I've decided his last name is likely going to be Ravencroft. (Though suggestions for other similar last names are appreciated).

Haunted locations near Austin, Tx

So I have a kinda master list in my notes app of haunted locations I want to investigate. Ever since I did an over-night at the Haunted Hill House in Mineral Wells, I’ve really wanted to devote more time to paranormal investigation. It’s very thrilling and is endlessly fascinating to me. I have a list of locations in Texas, including the one Austin location I know of (the Driskill Hotel) but I really want to add to the list of places that are more accessible to me. So anywhere in the central to east Texas area. Maybe even include your stories and evidence because—fun. Thank yall in advance 😘🤠

What are some good international haunt attractions?

Hello I have a question are there any good haunt attractions outside of the USA? I been to countless American haunt attractions, I been to a couple in Canada and the UK, Australia and New Zealand, Ireland and Scotland those where an interesting contrast because even though they where all English speaking countries there where some cultural differences that you wouldn’t normally see in a lot American haunt attractions like an emphasis on more intimate and psychological horror rather then just straight up jumpscares ( Some American haunt attractions do that to but those are more adult oriented ones ) the most interesting contrast by far where haunt attractions in Japan those where just pure psychological and atmospheric horror and that was a refreshing thing to see rather then just jumpscares just slowly building up tension till you can’t take no more also the actors often ran directly at audience members too. That brought up a question in my mind on what are some good haunt attractions outside of the USA I always enjoy it when other countries do haunt attractions because the cultural differences are very fascinating to me and what are some countries that have a haunt attractions that you wouldn’t expect would have haunt attractions?
