What does everybody think about security officers having badges?

So I work for Security company that typically had us working in rougher areas. When I started, I would just wear a polo and a holster with a Clock 19. A few weeks after I started working my boss told me I needed to get a vest. Luckily my birthday was coming up so my parents got it for me. I’m 29 by the way, but I’m not gonna turn down a free gift for my parents lol. That being said in my opinion, I received a lot more respect not when I have the best, but when I have the vest and the badge. Also, before anyone starts calling me a police officer, wanna be. I always made sure to identify myself as Security, but people frequently called me officer.
I would also typically wear this badge around my neck with a chain. So what does everyone think about security guards/officers wearing badges?

Shift supervisor with no power

I just got hired by a security company. I’m not really excited about the position. The guy essentially offered me the job after speaking with me briefly on the phone. I’m sure plenty of people have had this happened to them while working Security. But my issues are the following.
I’m only getting paid $20 an hour for a supervisor job
My manager told me that we are hands off, strictly observe and report.
I have no real power like no hiring or firing or the ability to ban people.
I really wanted to turn it down, but I don’t really have a better job offer currently.

As this happened to anyone else
