What can I do to the walls to make this small bathroom feel more cozy/tied-together instead of "out-of-the-box-bathroom-kit"?

Owner; lived here for years and getting really tired of feeling like I still live in a college apartment that I'm going to move out of every spring. Slowly working my way through my unit trying to pull it together, and I'm stumped for what to do with the bathroom because of the colors and limited wall space. (I will not be undertaking replacing the vanity, tiles, or mirror, I sadly don't have that kind of time right now).

First two photos are the view of the bathroom from the bathtub using all lights and then just my mirror lights (warm dim bulbrite 3000K - 1800K 500 lumens). Everything feels too peachy/yellow, so I want to spruce up the walls. The third photo is the view from my kitchen; door is almost always open because of cats needing access to litter box.

  • I really like the idea of going dark and doing a really large floral wall mural, examples from Graham & Brown attached, but a) this is a daily use bathroom, and I'm worried about any wall murals causing mold or peeling; b) every wall has a giant cut-out either for the doors or for the mirror, which is an exceptional waste of $$ to buy a wall mural and then throw out half of it (bc it's not a repeating pattern like standard wall paper). The few designs I did like don't come in vinyl (hence the mold/peeling issue).
  • I really don't like the repeat pattern of wallpaper. It triggers something primal in my soul that I can't put my finger on. Also, again, worried about mold and peeling.
  • I thought about painting a dark color and then trying to stencil my own floral artwork, but I know I'm not going to get the shading and lighting right because I'm not an artist. And I don't want a flat 1-D or 2-D stencil, I would use a multi-layered stencil to get more vibrant colors and definition, but if I purchase a bunch of random stencils (examples from AlteNew) and put them together, I don't think it'll be right in terms of where colors are lighter/darker, if that makes sense. I can't find any large stencils that fit the bill, any stencils I find are a single layer (which makes it fall flat for what I'm looking for) or intended to be a repeat pattern.

So that leaves me with zero inspiration after a month of trying different things, and even if I just do a flat wall, I'm still stuck on wall color for paint. What complements the cherry red vanity, the ick yellow-ish granite countertop, the peach-y ish tile, AND, the navy blue towels? (I just bought those towels and they are divine and I'm not giving them up lol).

Oh shoot - out of order, I also took a picture of the tiny tiles in the shower, and a close-up of the vanity and counter, for color matching.

Any help/inspiration would be so greatly appreciated!!!!

Do these colors work together?

Been trying to understand what colors I need to change to make this look better. Me and my girl friend are planing on redoing our kitchen but neither of us are gifted with a good eye for design.

Help with house layout

First house! The first space is a really long room that I think should be split into living/tv area and a dining room, but I'm not sure what the best layout is. (ground plan is rough dimensions) I'm also wondering what the best living room furniture would be. I've always wanted a sectional but wonder if a couch and love seat would work better. Second image is not our furniture.

What to do

I need design help. Colors etc.

My wife will not let me change the black fixtures. Even though I hate how hard it is to keep clean. I just hung the mirror to see. Second picture shows what's behind. I have a medicine cabinet to put in hopefully soon.

I need minimal visual clutter but still fun. I own but on a budget at the moment. Maybe two mirrors?

Im already planning to make the top fauz drawer functional.

I just.... im so stuck on how to make this bathroom not feel like being inside a light blub. Nothing and too much at the same time.

UPDATE: I will not be putting two mirrors. I have heard I am in fact crazy haha. I have looked into a recessed medicine cabinet that has a picture frame to put over the toliet. If not then maybe floating shelves.

I am also hearing a different mirror would be best but im kind stuck with this one due to budget.

What accent wall color should I do to replace the navy/gray angled wall?

This is in my living room, I’m looking for a color that would contrast with the couch/carpet which are both beige, and still go with the surrounding wall color (SW Alpaca but it pulls more purple in my room as the window is west facing). That wall leads down the stairs into the basement and I want to do that whole wall one color but not as dark as the navy currently is because it would make the stairway extra spooky… advice appreciated!

Which of these room setups showcases this runner rug the best?

I'm trying to figure out which room setup showcases this runner rug best. I created a few different mockups, and I'd really appreciate honest feedback. Which image works best, and what would you change to make the rug fit the space better? I'm especially interested in thoughts on the styling, lighting, and overall balance. Thanks!

What do you think of this colour palette for a full flat refurb?

I am completely renovating a 2-bed top floor flat in London. I want to hint at some Provence tones, hence the blue and green which I want to use in the bedrooms.

Recommend a neutral paint color for our space

Hi I am having trouble choosing a paint color. I want something neutral to brighten up the space but not too white. I also don’t look yellow or too brown. Tried an alabaster swatch but it was too white. Let me know what you think.

How should I renovate this old built-in wardrobe?

I’ve just sanded off the old paint from this built-in wardrobe, but I’m unsure how to proceed with the renovation. Three main things are bothering me:

  1. There is a vertical wooden strip between the two lower doors, but there isn’t one between the two upper doors. This makes the wardrobe look visually unbalanced to me. Should I add a matching strip to the upper section, remove the lower one, or leave it as it is?
  2. The inner corners of the lower door panels are rounded rather than sharp, square corners. I’m not sure whether I should try to change them or whether this is simply part of the wardrobe’s original style. If I keep the rounded corners, what kind of renovation style would suit them best?
  3. There is a tall rectangular blank panel on the right-hand side of the wardrobe. I’m not sure whether it is an intentional design feature, a filler panel, or something else. Does it look awkward, and is there a good way to make it feel more integrated?

I’d like to keep some of the wardrobe’s original character, but make the overall design look more balanced and intentional. I’m leaning towards a warm, slightly vintage or country-style finish. Any suggestions would be appreciated ❤️

Design ideas for areas near radiator

Hi! What’s are some fun ideas for these two areas on either side of the radiator? Note that it gets hot, and I don’t want to block the radiator with a built in or anything else!

Painting Ceiling and Walls

we recently moved into a house that had the same color of paint throughout the entire house including the ceilings. I am painting the living room space Casa Blanca White. I am going to paint the ceiling a basic ceiling white (unless anyone has a better idea.)

Here are my questions.

  1. One of the walls in the living space has an awkward space between the wall and the ceiling. should I paint it wall color or ceiling color? I am leaning towards wall color but want to know others thoughts.

  2. The kitchen and the living space are connected. should I paint the walls in the kitchen the same color as the living room or switch it up?

I think I am overthinking everything here so some outside perspective would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

Can you mix a minimalistic style with an earthy style? (black, grey and dark grey vs. red, green, and brown)

Me and my boyfriend just moved into a new apartment with each other for the first time, and we’ve both never been on our own before. And as the title suggests, we have very different styles. But please keep in mind as you read we just moved in about 2 months ago so decoration wise we don’t have much!!

He is on the minimalistic side of things and is a gamer, so the majority of his set-up is black. (His office is the one with all the Funko Pops) With that being said, he also got to the apartment a few months before I did (we moved states) and bought the “basic” furniture we needed aside from the couch which was given to him. This would include a bed frame, night stands, and a tv stand. The rest of the large furnishing like the dining table, coffee table, the dresser, and bed spread (minus the blanket) was by both of us that we compromised on, or thought it looked best in that area.

Now I’m the one who loves earthy tones; all the reds, deep blues, greens and browns are so pretty!! (room wise, my office is the one with the colored lights) However I feel like my boyfriend is allergic to color because when I wanted to buy solid colored pillows for our couch, he essentially said no and that he doesn’t like it. I want to add color via plants, throw blankets, pillows, and small decor items but I can’t seem to find anything he actually likes.

We did go to Ikea recently and I took him through the showrooms they had to see if I could gauge what he did/didn’t like, but he only liked bits and pieces of some of them so it made it a little harder for me to understand.

So I come to you Reddit, please any suggestions or ideas for decor would be amazing!! We’re still decorating so there’s not much, but we aren’t planning on getting any new furniture… so we have to work with what we have!!

Glass panel wardrobes- yes or no?

We are seeing more homeowners choose glass-front wardrobes, especially for master bedrooms. They undoubtedly look elegant, but for those who have one, how practical is it in everyday life? Do you need to be more mindful about how you organise and store items to keep them from looking cluttered?
