Got this iphone 17 yesterday at nearest store for old price shockingly 🫣

I bought an iPhone 15 (128 gb)in January this year, and honestly, I was pretty happy with it. But now a couple of my friends are getting the iPhone 17, and for some reason I’m suddenly getting this weird FOMO 😭
Like, they’ll have the latest iPhone and I’ll still be using my iPhone 15, and I keep getting this feeling that maybe I should also upgrade. It’s not like my phone is bad or anything. It works perfectly fine and I don’t really have any major complaints.
But seeing everyone around me getting the newer model is making me feel like I’m missing out. I know this probably sounds stupid, but I’m genuinely wondering if I’m thinking about this the wrong way.
If you were in my situation, what would you do? Would you just use the iPhone 15 for a few more years, or would you upgrade?
Also, realistically, how many years should I use an iPhone 15 before upgrading? I don’t want to keep upgrading just because a new model comes out every year.

iPhone 16 exchange: ₹48,000 (89% battery, good condition)

Finally pulled the trigger and got this new 17 pro from croma digital.

If you are wondering how do I get it for such discounted price then here's the breakdown:-

*5k card discount

*3k exchange discount for my 5 yrs old android phone

*Extra 10k discount from the manager because of my nonchalantness

*72k i stole from my ex- girlfriend.

So the total money I had to pay was only 40k 🥰

Finally joined the club 🥹🤞

Iphone 17 pro , 256gb storage.

So I was waiting for BBD sale but the best I could see was 28.4K for my old phone and card discount 4k. So effective would have been 102k still.

So, instead I went to reliance digital and got the following. MRP -134k
Exchange - 22.4k phone value + 10k bonus
Store discount- flat 10k
I had no workable card for them, so no card discount.
So, effective was ~93.4k approx.

Also took GST benefit 😅.

So, yeah. I thought it was still better than BBD sale.

A week ago I saw on twitter that if we are mostly using wifi at home turning this feature off will lead to a better battery backup and its approved from my side, I mostly scroll reels, whatsapp and do video calls, and the average sot on 100% battery increased from 6.5-7 hours to 9.5-10 hours on my 17.

Also if somebody is using ios26 and facing heating issues during charging and usage, update to IOS27 there’s massive difference in heat management after update , atleast in my case.

I switched from my iPhone 13.
Price: Around ₹1.06 lakh

And yes, I know exchange value doesn’t really lower the price, but hear me out.

My iPhone 13 was in pretty bad shape—it kept overheating, lagged, had some scratches, I had to replace the battery locally for ₹2k, the display wasn’t glued back properly after the replacement and it would die below 20% even though it showed 96% battery health.

I looked around at about 6–8 Croma/Reliance Digital stores earlier and the best offer I got was around ₹8k.
I tried one last Croma outlet, and their Cashify guy offered me ₹24k.

They only had one silver 17 Pro left because someone had cancelled their pre-booking—and silver was exactly what I wanted. (Yep, people were still pre-booking a year-old iPhone!)

The store was packed, people were still booking the 17 Pro and the whole billing + data transfer took almost 3 hours because the Wi-Fi was super slow.

I’ve been using it for about a week now, and strangely, it still feels very familiar. Since I transferred everything from my old phone, even the wallpaper and setup stayed the same—it basically feels like my iPhone 13, just much faster.

The 13 was aluminium, this is aluminium, and even though it’s 4 generations newer and a Pro, day-to-day it honestly doesn’t feel like some huge upgrade.

But yeah… I absolutely love the silver colour and the camera quality.
Miss the blue 13 tho

Anyone else upgraded from an older iPhone and felt the same?

If you don’t want telephoto and Lidar, I would suggest getting the basic 17 at the older price with good exchange value.

Anyway, I now have around Rs 1,49,000-ish left to spend on literally anything else.

Life is good. Nokia is good. My bank account is currently receiving emotional support.
