Planning to propose – looking for ideas and advice

I’m planning to propose to my girlfriend and I’m looking for some advice from people who’ve done it.
I’m looking for ideas on the best locations, whether to keep it private or public, and any little extras that made your proposal special (photographer, decorations, hidden surprises, dinner afterwards, etc.).
I’d love to hear what worked for you, what you’d avoid, and anything you wish you’d done differently. I want it to be memorable without feeling over the top.

Restaurant with a sea view for birthday dinner in Lanzarote?

Hi everyone! I’ll be arriving in Lanzarote on July 21st and I’d love to take my girlfriend out for dinner somewhere nice with a sea view for her birthday.
We’ll be staying in Puerto del Carmen, but we’ll have a car, so we’re happy to drive around the island.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Is Lanzarote actually expensive? Locals' take

People often say Lanzarote is one of the pricier Canary Islands, and the cultural sites (Timanfaya, Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes) do come with steep entry fees compared to similar attractions elsewhere.

What usually gets missed is why. Those prices fund conservation of genuinely fragile environments, they cap visitor numbers to avoid the sites getting trashed by overtourism, and the income goes straight back into public services on the island, not into some private company's pocket.

Outside of those specific sites though, day to day costs (food, restaurants, transport, accommodation) are pretty much in line with the rest of the Canaries. The "expensive island" reputation mostly comes from people who only experienced the cultural sites and extrapolated from there.

Curious if others who've visited felt the same, or if there's somewhere else on the island where the cost genuinely surprised you.

Watch shops

Does anyone know where best for a watch in Puerto del carmen? Something higher end than the general shops you pass.

Already have a Tudor black bay but want something in between.

Tissot
Seiko
Even used but obv genuine.

Julio: Norte/Sur?

Holaa!!

Mil gracias!!

Pd: si, soy una exagerada adicta al ☀️

Must see places

I’m travelling to Lanzarote with my family (partner and 3 year old) for 10 days in September and was wondering what are some places we cannot miss?

We’re renting a car so we can get to anywhere, most interested in the best beaches, scenic spots, good places for food that sort or thing.

TIA

Travelling around the island

Hi there!

I will be travelling to Lanzarote for the first time in July with a friend. We are staying in Costa Teguise, but have a few things we want to see that are about a 15 min drive from there. We're only there for a few nights, and cannot rent a car (I have a license but only as of April so rental companies won't accept me, and my friend cannot drive). I appreciate the island is probably best seen by car but it's not an option for us. Are taxis easy to get to and from places? Can anyone recommend a company in particular? And if not, are buses easy to get from Costa Teguise to Museo Lagomar for example?

Many thanks :)

Timanfaya: bus tour or walking tour?

hi!
I’ll be travelling soon to lanzarote, I was wondering what’s best between the classic 40-minute bus tour or a small group walking tour of 3 hours.

I’ve seen some pictures and both options look amazing, would it be worth it to the 2 experiences or is one enough? which would you recommend? do they follow the same route or is the scenery different?

I’m with my mum (late 50s) and she’s scared she won’t be able to keep up with the walking tour however it is described as “easy and relaxed” can anyone confirm?

Moving back to Lanzarote after 5 in the UK, how did you make it work financially? 28M + 25F

After a few years living in the UK, I'm thinking about moving back to Lanzarote. Got the family home there so accommodation isn't the issue, more trying to figure out the work side of things.

My partner is Italian so we're also thinking there might be something in the Italian tourist market guided tours, experiences, that kind of thing but open to anything really.

For context, I'm 28M and she's 25F. Would love to hear from anyone who's made a similar move what age did you do it, how did you find the transition, and what are you doing for work now?

Any leads or insights massively appreciated.
