For people who had liposuction, what do you wish you had known beforehand?

Could be about:
• recovery
• compression garments
• swelling
• expectations
• maintaining results

What would you tell someone considering it today?

365mc Korea

I came here last year under the expectation that it would be as good as other people say but it wasn’t. I just came back to Korea for lipo360 with a different doctor and they told me my scars were too big, in the wrong place, and that 365mc is a factory clinic without board certified surgeons. I did not get the results I was hoping for and ended up paying MORE for only lower back liposuction than I did for an entire lipo360, compression garment and medication. I’m disappointed and wish I could get my money back. But I am very pleased with the hospital I went to this time. It is De:light body plastic surgery! The doctor is a board certified surgeon and he did amazing. I got a custom compression garment and the interpreter got my medication for me.

Side note, when I woke up at 365 from my surgery I remember being FREEZING. But at De:light, they had a tube that blows warm air under the blanket. I woke up warm and cozy. I feel like that is a big difference in itself.

Just posting this so others know because when I was searching I couldn’t really find anything helpful!

Post surgical exhaustion

6 weeks ago I had liposuction to the abdomen/flanks/legs. Surgery lasted approx 6h and 3.5L of fat was removed. Since surgery, I have had episodes of exhaustion, nausea, face feels hot, arms feels cold. 2 weeks post op I went to the ER and found out I’m anemic. I’ve had iron infusions, but still continue to have some fatigue and still have these episodes of exhaustion. Naps do help a little.

Anyone else experienced anything like this?

Recovery Time for Liposuction

I am an individual with insulin resistant PMOS and carry weight very unevenly. Currently I am 150 at 5'4".

I have needed a total hysterectomy which you can see in my post history and a gallbladder surgery.

I am incredibly active, working out 5-7 days a week in aerial arts, ballet, zumba, tap, and dance conditioning classes.

My surgeon has referred to me as very muscular and having an athletic build that is hidden under a layer of fat that I have been unable to remove through diet and exercise. He is also a reputable surgeon, who is also a professor and I have heard steller reviews in person about him when I did my pre op check ups by nurses in unaffiliated hospitals.

I am also on metformin for insulin regulation (I also have sugar crashes and have to take my blood sugar) and eat once a day per doctors orders to regulate my insulin.

I am getting liposuction July 6th on my: upper arms, inner thighs, upper and lower abdomen, and knees. I originally was not going to do knees, but he reccomended them due to how I carry weight and wanting it to look more even. I am also getting Vaser on my upper arms, thighs, and abdomen.

I was able to recover from my hysterectomy with only a tylonel 3 once, but my gallbladder surgery was absolutely brutal and pain medication didn't touch it. I also had a bad reaction to the vicodin (made me dizzy and vomit and unfortunately did 0 for pain).

I am going to San Diego Comic Con at the end of July. I leave for it by train July 18th and the con starts the 22nd. I am going to be walking up to 20k steps a day, but I could go to ADA and get a motorized scooter or wheel chair too. The train ride is also a few days, where I will be stopping to sight see.

My surgeon has said I will be okay to go and has no concerns for my trip. He stated the newer lipo type he uses has less down time and he has no major concerns.

I have freaked myself out though, reading how much pain people are in. How am I supposed to kneel to pack my suitcase? How am I supposed to drag it with me on my flight home?

What did recovery time look like for all of you with liposuction recently?

Is Liposuction Safe?

A lot of people ask whether liposuction is safe, and the honest answer is: it can be, when it’s done on the right patient, by a qualified surgeon, with proper preparation and aftercare.

Liposuction is designed to remove stubborn fat and improve body contour, but it is still a real surgical procedure, not a shortcut for weight loss. Like any surgery, it comes with risks such as infection, swelling, contour irregularities, blood clots, and healing issues. Factors like smoking, underlying medical problems, poor skin quality, and unrealistic expectations can increase those risks.

In general, the best candidates are healthy individuals with localized fat deposits, good skin elasticity, and a clear understanding of what liposuction can and cannot do. Recovery also matters just as much as the procedure itself, including following instructions, wearing compression garments, and avoiding too much activity too soon.

So yes, liposuction can be safe, but safety depends on careful patient selection, proper technique, and good postoperative care.

If you have any questions about this surgery, I would be happy to answer them.

Need good experiences - stomach and flank lipo

I recently joined Reddit just to get support here. I had breast reduction and stomach/flank lipo on 4/15. Feeling great but at almost 11 weeks out the lipo swelling stinks. It gets better little by little (and I see the amazing results when I first wake up for about a 1/2 hour) but then always - swelling. I don’t look any worse than before, but I don’t look much better. I read it could be 6 months - but I’m really hoping to see some change. What have you experienced?

Fixing post-lipo texture & contour irregularities.

For the past several years, I noticed increasing breast deflation and it started to really bother me. I decided to pursue fat transfer to restore the volume. As part of that, the surgeon performs liposuction. I didn’t want lipo honestly; I didn’t need it, but it was necessary for this procedure. I had great legs, no cellulite, smooth and strong. I was afraid of having issues as I read that is common with folks my size. I decided to take the risk anyway. In December, I had the surgery. He took fat from back of thighs, inner thighs, and sides of thighs. I followed the post-op instructions to the T. For the first month, I got manual lymphatic drainage massage 3-5x/wk then dropped down to 2x/wk for the next 2 months then 1x/wk for the months since. I have foam rolled, cupped, see a scar tissue specialist, etc. I am now 6 months out and have these texture and contour irregularities still. I can tell the fascia has laid down in weird ways. I am posting in the hopes you all can weigh in on what treatments might help fix these. I want to state clearly that I don’t want to lose anymore fat in my legs. I haven’t tried any sort of tx like cavitation or RF. I am unsure which route would actually help these issues. Any advice is very much appreciated.

Liposuction or Gastric Bypass

I (female) have been overweight my entire life and despite my best efforts to loose weight, I’ve failed tremendously. Currently, at 19 years old at 5’3, I weigh ~110kg.

It has reached a point where I am seriously considering surgery to help me. However, I am unsure of whether I should get liposuction as a way to immediately help, or a gastric bypass for more long-term maintenance.

Liposuction
Obviously, I’d love the instant fat loss and body contouring that liposuction would provide, however I understand that this isn’t a solution for weight-loss. I would really use it as a kick-starting mechanism as I firmly believe that once I look thinner, I’ll gain more confidence and be more motivated to stay that way.

Gastric Bypass
It is my understanding that this would be more suitable more long-term weight loss, and probably more suitable for my issues, but I thought I would seek advice anyway.

I’d appreciate any advice or suggestions regarding this matter. Thank you in advance!

6 months post op results after thigh liposuction

Maybe it’s bad lighting or something, but I have loose skin all around and the lumps and bumps are making me depressed about a procedure that I spent so much on to wear shorts, skirts, things I used to hesitate before. I haven’t been exercising I don’t know if that would help, although I have been advised to build muscle by leg training.
But im still disappointed and looking for solutions to improve this. Can buying a red light therapy belt would help? I still feel numbness around my leg
