Executive Elite Aisle Question

Hello, I am flying into ORD this weekend. I have booked a midsize SUV. Does anyone know if I’ll be able to walk into the executive elite aisle and choose any vehicle and drive off with it without incurring any additional costs?

Toronto YYZ SUVs

Planning on using National to rent a SUV for a little over a week. Super confusing researching models. Family of four + cases so ideally want a Tahoe sized SUV.

What’s best?

- Standard SUV
- Standard Crossover
- Premium Elite SUV
- PremIum Crossover

What can be typically found in these fleets in Canada and which should I go for to give the best chance of the size SUV I’m after.

As Executive member, Am I booming correctly?

I directly booked for Luxury Elite SUV. However, I’m reading on Reddit that people are booking for a regular car and then going to the lot to pick a better car. Is this like a luck thing or most of the time it’s going to work? Some of the cars that I’m seeing that are available upgrades in the lot on YouTube are Toyota RAV4 and similar basic cars. Therefore, I’m confused to how those are considered “upgrades”?

Therefore, since I will be on vacation with my family, is it better to just book the class of car that I want versus hoping for a similar luxury car on the lot?

I’ve never done this before so this is my first time. I’m really confused on how this process works.

Ever run into your previous rentals in the wild?

I rented this 2026 Ford Expedition Platinum for work from DTW in February. It was brand new at the time — only about 100 miles on the odometer. Super comfy, great sound system, convenient hands-free cruise, good power, and pretty good fuel economy for what it was. To date it was one of my favorite rentals.

Fast forward to July, I was on vacation in Florida and spotted a Michigan-plated, white, Ford Expedition Platinum. Since I had to key-in the plate quite a few times for parking, the number sounded familiar too. So I go back through my photo reel to find the vehicle condition video. Lo and behold, it’s the same vehicle and it somehow made it all the way down to Florida lol. Hello old friend!

S.O. said I had should’ve swapped keys with the family that had it 🤣.

USA Road Trip - Question about LDW + RSP

Hi There, sorry if this is asked a bunch of times;

I'm from the UK travelling cross country on a honeymoon later this year.

I've got a SUV booked via National (as an emerald club member).

I'm wondering what the Zero Excess LDW actually covers in terms of say, flat tires / replacements and so on.

I've purchased RSP (as it cost next to nothing to add it on, the entire trip was sub 800USD for a months rental).

I've just seen RSP doesn't cover the cost of replacement of tire, just the labor and towing?

Does the Zero Excess LDW cover the cost of a replacement tire?

If say someone was to damage the car slightly - would I be out of pocket? Is a LDW essentially the same as a CDW ?

(I've rented before, but only a week here and there, so just wanting to make sure im fully set)

thanks in advance!

Refuleing charges?

I know they use a gps type device now, today I refueled until the pump clicked off AT THE AIRPORT gas station & they still charged me for 2 gallons.

This is at Indianapolis airport.

Anyone else?

LAX, Executive Elite

I don’t always go for the “nicest” logo in the row, rather, what’s new and what haven’t I driven?

This time I went for a practically brand new (1k miles) 2026 RAV4 XLE Hybrid that also got nearly 50mpg in LA traffic. I’ll take it.

What is the deal with the Wagoneer's now?

What is up with the Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer these days? With Jeep repackaging them into one model it feels like the standard GW and the Summit are or should be two separate classes? Like the standard trim or limited is in the Tahoe/Expedition/Suburban classes and the Summit is in with the Navigator and Escalade? If you just rent the standard full size SUV is it just luck you might get a nicer trim and the GW is just not in the Premium or Elite full size category?

Full size at Rapid City - should I go with Hertz?

This is my first time renting with National, I'm usually a Hertz customer but this time National was cheaper. I have Exec status through AMEX.

Flying to Rapid City, SD for a weekend to do a roadtrip around Badlands, Black Hills etc. Booked a full size sedan and when I was booking, the website gave me a warning that if I want an SUV, I should book an SUV instead of relying on the free upgrade.

I don't necessarily want an SUV but I do like some choice in what car I get. For example, I really don't want to get a Camry. If you were in my shoes, would you still go with National or would you switch to Hertz (which does not display this warning)? Anyone has any insight into what kind of car will I get at a National location at RAP airport?

Please proceed to the counter

My company just switched to National so I’ve only rented a few times. I am executive elite and normally just pick a car. I’m going to Eugene Oregon. I assume the smaller airports don’t have the pick your own car option.
