Application rejected

Application got rejected due to “failure to submit proof of income.” Thing is, I submitted two of my most recent paystubs as proof income on 5/22/26. Deadline was 6/2/26. Of course I appealed, but why and how could something like this happen? This was my first time getting selected for a lottery, so maybe I submitted the documents wrong. I don’t see how I could being that it’s pretty straightforward.

Shinda Management

I'm looking for advice regarding my housing application with Shinda Management (Utica Crescent).

I attended an in-person interview on May 5 and was told I would be contacted within 4–6 weeks regarding a unit. I never received a call offering me an apartment, never viewed a unit, and never declined any offer.

This past Saturday, I received three calls from Shinda Management. When I tried calling back, the office was closed. Today, I received another call and was told that I had declined a unit that was offered to me. I explained that I never received a unit offer and never declined anything because no one contacted me about a specific apartment.

The representative said she would look into it and call me back by the end of the day.

I'm confused about how my application could be marked as declined when I was never given the opportunity to accept or reject a unit. Has anyone else experienced something similar with Shinda Management or another housing provider? Could this be an administrative error, or is there anything specific I should do to protect my place on the waiting list?

Timelines do not matter.

There's no timeline to pay attention to. Everyone is different. Ive seen somebody move through the process in 6 weeks and another person, from apply to move in, took 12 months.

Just apply and forget about it. Submit docs and forget about it. Even go for a tour, then forget about it!

Just stay in contact, dont delay, and maybe just maybe they'll reach your log number and the unit you want is still available. Even being proactive doesn't matter. They gotta get to your number in the line.

Re-rental with not so great reviews

How worried should I be if I've found some bad reviews about a re-rental I'm in the running for with reside? For context, it's the Ariel in LIC (44-46 Purves). I've been applying to the housing lottery for years and years and this is the closest I've gotten to signing a lease. Does anyone live in that building?

Bedford Beverly Phase II

I was just asked to submit documents for the Bedford Beverly Phase 2 project. Does anyone have any experience with this complex? I'm wondering if it is worth it to move forward as the apartments seems to be only $100 cheaper than the market rate ones. Also the amenities are extensive and I wonder if the affordable housing tenants have equal access to them. It's my first time moving forward with a unit so I'm excited but wary.

159 Boerum Street

1 bedroom just went up on Reside New York’s air table. I know people have difficulty catching the lower AMIs while they’re up. This one is 60%

Got approved for my apartment on Thursday. By Sunday night, I had a PhD in area rugs and wallpaper texturing.

My file was sent to HPD for approval on Thursday morning. 5 hours later I was notified that they approved my file. I was told the next thing left for me to do was "keep an eye out" for an email from the leasing office that will go over the lease signing and choosing a move in date.

Instead of waiting like a normal, emotionally stable person, the designer part of my brain immediately went into hyper-drive. The mission? Make this small space functional at all costs. The reality? Read below, actual conversation I had this morning after being asked how my weekend was.

Them: How was your weekend?
Me: Stressful.
Them: Oh no. What happened?
Me: Well, I spent approximately 14 hours researching rugs.
Them: Rugs?
Me: Yes. First there were six finalists. Then there were four finalists. Then there were two finalists. Then one went out of stock. Then three new contenders appeared. Then I bought two rugs.
Them: Okay...
Me: Then I started looking at wallpaper.
Them: Why?
Me: Because I thought it would be a good idea to create an accent wall.
Them: Makes sense.
Me: No. It doesn't.
Them: Why not?
Me: Because I then discovered there are approximately 8.4 million wallpaper patterns on the internet.
Them: How many did you look at?
Me: All of them.
Them: (no words, just a look of confusion)
Me: Geometric wallpaper. Organic wallpaper. Mid-century wallpaper. Art Deco wallpaper. Wallpaper that looked like wallpaper. Wallpaper that looked like fabric. Wallpaper that looked like art. Wallpaper that looked like wallpaper pretending to be art.
Them: Did you choose one?
Me: Maybe.
Them: Maybe?
Me: I currently have three finalists and a spreadsheet in my head.
Them: Anything else?
Me: Oh yes. I also bought a mattress, shelves, organizers, renters insurance, researched bike insurance, evaluated multiple Murphy beds, analyzed wardrobe systems, calculated wallpaper square footage, and checked my email every 11 minutes waiting for the leasing office.
Them: So... stressful weekend?
Me: Actually the most stressful part was deciding between two nearly identical wallpaper patterns.

Awaiting HPD Approval

Can anyone share their experience with how long it usually takes to hear back from HPD? I’m working with Reside, and on Thursday they said they’ll send my application to HPD for the final review.

Hoping for good news soon!!

Fheps community

Has anyone gotten approved and signed a lease that has fheps?
Anybody gotten selected for a housing connect apartment and while giving in documents and being processed the fheps voucher expired?
Anybody had HPD approval and their voucher expired and have waited and got through afterwards?

Tell me please.

I am currently going through the processes, my shopping letter expired. I know the leasing office sent my stuff to HPD in April. N yesterday my caseworker called me to tell me they denied my reasonable accommodation for a 2 bedroom. Wanna know why? She didn’t send in the documents I gave her. She only sent one of the documents (mine) and the reasonable accommodation form had my child’s name on it only. She plays too much. I wrote to the leasing office and am still waiting to see if they’ll respond back. I submitted my docs on housing connect in feb. In March I viewed the apt and signed lots of paperwork. What is/was the process for you guys?
