So I can either do the Slaughter to Prevail like low, and some fry sounding high, but can’t extend them to other registers. Advice?
I'm a guitarist for a small hardcore punk band and I need to learn for backup but can't for the life of me scream. Is there any tried and true method to improve at this. I don't need immediate results I just want to improve my trash vocals.
wrote this song today and i was wondering if i could get a few pointers on what u guys think would be a good addition to it (fyi it’s not finished but any tips given will find a place in it lol)

# So this was recorded with my phone, in my car. No microphone, no editing, all one take.
Hearing how BMTH is re-recording \*Count Your Blessings\* I had to give this a try. I’ve only ever covered stuff from There is a Hell, and Sempiternal, and one song from Suicide Season. Never really posted any of them cause the internet can be ruthless.
I’ve always wanted to make music, just never really had the means to do so. It was my dream growing up. I used to dance around in my room like a fool with a mic not even plugged in. 14 years old imagining that one day I’d be doing it \*for real\*. Well, life started life-ing and before I knew it, without even realizing I had given up on it. Well years and years go by (I’m 26 now) I saw BMTH live at Rockville 2026 and it woke something up that I feel was dormant in me.
I’m a dad now and shit isn’t slowing down. I figured I owe it to myself.. and even more my kid to at **LEAST** try.
Give it a listen? Tell me what you think?
A well lit practice

I've been practicing fry vocals for a few months now, focusing on deathcore, early 2000s metalcore (SxE), and skramz. Honestly, I feel like I've hit a complete wall and haven't made any real progress.
I know the throat positions and physical feedback by heart, but a friend of mine recently told me my foundation sounds completely wrong. Since I don't have a vocal coach, I've actually resorted to sending my raw audio attempts (vowels, basic rumbles) to an AI to get technical feedback on my distortion and breath support. I know it sounds weird, but I couldn't think of any other way to get an objective analysis of my audio.
Has anyone ever been in a similar situation where they felt completely stuck? How did you break through? Any advice on how to transition a safe, compressed "buzz" into a proper scream with actual volume and body would be massive. Thanks!
I’m a software developer exploring an idea for a mobile app for extreme vocal practice.
Not “AI vocal coach” or “this technique is safe/unsafe”, but more like a realtime feedback / visualization tool.
Things I’m experimenting with:
* fry vs false-cord-like classification
* stability/consistency over time
* spectral visualization
* comparing practice sessions
* tracking progress
The big thing I’m unsure about is whether this would actually be useful to screamers, or just a gimmick.
So I’m curious:
* What’s the hardest part of self-learning extreme vocals for you?
* What kind of feedback do you wish existed?
* Would you ever use a realtime analysis tool while practicing?
* What would immediately make you distrust an app like this?
I’m especially interested in honest skepticism.
I (26F) am interested in learning to scream, but I am a little worried about doing it wrong and messing up my voice like I did as a dumb teenager. I’ve watched a lot of videos, read so many comments from other posts and even tried practicing to see what’s comfortable for me and I feel like I’m doing everything wrong.
There’s been a few instances where I’ve found that sweet spot where it feels right, but I can’t keep up with it for long, and it takes a few more tries to return to that spot.
I know everyone’s voice is different and that screams are gonna be different for everyone. I’m trying to learn more to see what kind of screams/vocals suit me best, but again, I’m worried that if I keep doing things wrong too long, it might hurt me in the long run.
Any advice is helpful, consider me totally ignorant and just info dump if need be. Thank you!
I decided to practice by quoting various short videos and clips that I found on Pinterest lol.
I haven't got access to real lessons so all feedback is appreciated, even the things that might be considered obvious! =))
I also want to know, what is the normal feeling t have in the throat after doing vocals like this??? I have a slight scratchiness so I've stopped for now and I don't know if it's because I'm doing anything wrong. Is this feeling just because I'm not used to doing this, and it'll go away with time??
Thanks!!
Been working on heavier vocals and wanted to give this section a shot. Open to any feedback.
You can hear that the teacher asked if translate into English means "Does your throat hurt doing that?"
I love this song and it was really hard to figure out how to do some parts. I'm very happy with the result and just wanted to share this with my fellow Mudvayne peeps.
I finally started with media and this is the first kinda cover I posted , I will appreciate any feedback I can get
