Has anyone DIYed a soundproof vocal booth?

Apartment living :( gotta walk 5 minutes to my car every time I get the urge to practice or even just test out some random technique.

Anyone attempted to DIY something soundproofed, either in a closet or standalone? Doesn't necessarily need to be soundPROOF, but I have no idea what the cost would be for something like that. Anything that'd keep the noise down enough to stop my neighbors from pounding on the walls! Would love to see pictures if you do have one.

Female alto looking for advice

Hi I'm a female vocalist however my voice has a lower register I can't do fry screams to save my fucking life. I'm still a beginner when it comes to extreme vocals but I do have some singing experience from doing musical theater in my childhood. I'm a lot more comfortable using my chest voice and false chords are a lot more easier for me. However I still have a tough time sustaining that sound. I really wanna sound like a mix of kat bjelland of babes and toyland and Morgan Lander of kittie.

Experiencing self doubt about my vocals, feedback?

This is not my song, but how are my vocals? I'm afraid I'm deaf to how I actually sound.

learning clean singing is SO beneficial for harsh vocals

learning how to belt, pitch control, etc. has been a major help for me in learning harsh vocals, i would highly recommend that anyone struggling put some time into it! as always, feedback is welcome!

Feedback on my false chord and fry scream

Hello everyone,

I have been training alone for a few times and I think that I have unlocked my fry and false chord scream in low mid and kind of high positions but I am not sure about that and I am concern that I could missinterpret my false chord with arythenoid rattle.

If anyone have feedback and any comment on my techniques I would really appreciate!!

Thanks you all !!!

Light headedness and horrible pain after screaming?

Hey screaming subreddit! I’m actually not a fry screamer but I just got back from a concert and was wondering if any of you ever screamed so long and hard that immediately after you feel your head throb and get extremely lightheaded? It goes away after like 3-5 seconds. I screamed so hard that right after my head just completely dropped like some sort of G-force was acted upon it. What does this mean and do any of you know why it happens? Thanks!

Twanged high pitch VS Fry

Learned a high scream using pushed twang thinking thats what fry screaming was. Came to learn that fry is way different as it's really silent, doesnt use much air and can be held for a radicolous time. Is that true? Whats the actual technique behind that?

Watched what seems to be like 100 videos on fries and every single person has a different method and neither seem to click for Me. What was the way you learned? Whats a common missunderstanging people face when learning it?

What technique is this?

I find it easier to go to a really high note and then go slightly lower to get the voice crack thing or I can sing a clean note then compress and some placement stuff until it sounds right.

Sometimes I can't find the right placement to scream and my thorat feels sort blocked but when I try enough I find the right area. After i scream successfully, it takes a while to find my normal voice and stop tapping into the vocal fry and it doesnt hurt. Is this safe?

Also, how can I prevent that throat blockage thing where it's hard to start find where the scream is?

Gutturals for girls.

Long time lurker but have never posted due to being a little self-conscious (deleted this like five times already before finally deciding to post it). As a girl with a pretty high singing voice, I tend to be better at fry and prefer it, sound-wise, but have been playing around with false chord stuff lately. Any feedback or tips would be welcome, or if you just want to straight dump on me, that’s fine too!

basically what im doing is just screaming (with diaphragm of course, i dont feel my throat at all) though that point where your voice breaks between head and chest voice. and when i do that it kind of adds grit to it? sounds similar to a fry scream but i dont think it *technically* is.

One day I do screams easily and then completely forget or unable to do the right thing on another?

It's a weird thing for me. Might be because i did a lot of screaming yesterday after a long pause. And today I'm completely unable to get the right position or something. Has anyone experienced something like that? Lol

I had a hiatal hernia repair last year and I haven’t been able to do screams since . Any tips or advice ?

I can still sing and do things like throat singing just fine : but screaming is something I haven’t been able to do since the surgery . I try get to my throat and such in the positions I remember for doing the techniques my my throat just doesn’t want to cooperate . I know with my surgery they kind of wrapped my stomach around my esophagus so I’m sure that’s impacting it .

Has anyone else had this surgery or another surgery and been able to recover their screams ? Any advice would be greatly appreciate , I miss doing false vocal chords , gutterals and fries so much :(
