learning clean singing is SO beneficial for harsh vocals

learning how to belt, pitch control, etc. has been a major help for me in learning harsh vocals, i would highly recommend that anyone struggling put some time into it! as always, feedback is welcome!

second online game ever, got a double!

just got the game yesterday because i’ve been seeing clips online, and i thought it looked really fun. i was 100% right lmao, this game is so sick. i’m sure my movement isn’t very high level, but i feel like this wasn’t a bad double at all!

how to make your gutturals sound more like bricks

requested by u/NeuroEuphoria, i’m talking directly to him in the video, but this was the only way i could show it to him so you all get to hear my technique on extra brick-y gutturals. not gonna lie, i have no idea if any of this is helpful or not, or if i even made sense, so please lmk if i can answer any questions for you or anything. i’m no professional but i’ll try to help!

starting a numbers stations-themed black metal project!

what’re your thoughts on this so far? my buddy texted me with this idea a couple weeks ago, and we both though it was so neat, we got to work right away lmao. i drew the logo and he made this mock-up album cover, which really got me itching to make some music, so i went ahead and made this little instrumental real quick. all the instruments are programmed since i don’t have my guitar right now, but i still think it sounds pretty nice!

FINALLY figured this one out, and it’s better than i hoped!!

i’m tellin you, this is a sound i’ve been chasing for like 2.5 years, i swear to god. for the longest time, i could almost get it to sound right, but it wasn’t ever crisp enough to sound good. but i finally figured it out, and tbh i’m not super sure i know what i changed. maybe it’s just that i’m more comfortable after 2 years of practicing. anyways, feeling really proud of myself and i’m glad i didn’t give up! it definitely has not come naturally to me, lmao. but that just goes to show what consistent practice will do for you, make sure you practice at least every other day to keep your muscle memory sharp!

“grosse bagarre” - face yourself

crazy shit man, that was hard 😭 the switch up from low to high on this song is brutal, but it’s fun as fuck to practice to, i highly recommend it lmao. any feedback is welcome as always!! let’s get this sub a little more active lol, share more videos people!

i’m calling it my “goth nickel”

sometimes you keep a coin just because it looks neat, no other reason lol. as someone who is into the goth culture, i couldn’t help but immediately see it as Jefferson in corpse paint lmao. just thought maybe one or two people here would also think it’s neat/funny!

a poem on trauma.

this morning, i didn’t have breakfast.
instead, i had faces and names of people and places i wished would have
stayed forgotten.

i sat and watched the water run for years, frozen
in place by the
flood.

i became a statue there, a monument to my own torture.
for i have known nothing else, and
what good is suffering without expression?

if my worth is measured by what i can endure, surely i must mean something now.

————————————————————

i wrote this this morning after dissociating on the shower floor getting flashbacks all morning instead of getting ready for work 😭 hopefully it helps someone feel understood

i swear this era of deathcore is making a comeback

song is “don’t ask, don’t tell” - chelsea grin

been seeing more myspace deathcore revival bands lately (my favorite of which being rev3rent, they’re sick as fuck) and i love it so much. anyways, here’s some of my highest highs! please excuse the lows, i hadn’t warmed up for that so i didn’t push it very hard. i’m not the biggest fan of this technique, i think it sounds flatter than what i’m capable of and it’s not the most sustainable. but it does allow for some super crispy piercing highs, so i practice it in small amounts because it’s fun lmao. anyways, hope it sounds as cool as it feels lol!

advice or exercises for falsetto control?

you can hear me really struggle on the second “oooh”, just curious what feedback you guys might have for me on what you’ve done to help with falsetto stuff! i feel like my range and pitch is at least okay, but my control is lacking the most. thank you so much in advance!! also, i’m self-taught so i may not understand all the terminology, but i’d love to learn!

change drawer at work had a BIG month

listen, i know for most of you these probably aren’t super cool or special, BUT! i’ve been looking and looking for like 2 years to find something cool in our change drawer, and FINALLY!! i have EIGHT wheat pennies (the oldest of which i think is 1913, but it’s hard to read), i found one of those special edition 2009 Lincoln pennies, and TODAY!!! I FOUND A PROOF COIN!!! and it’s a quarter from 1987, in EXCELLENT condition??? i’m so shocked, and honestly confused on how it got there. the ridges are still so crispy and defined, i couldn’t be more excited!!

started practicing shouts(?), how does it sound?

first off, im not even sure this is counted as a “shout” or if it’s like a mixed voice scream?? terminology aside, i’ve started trying to figure it out. it’s been intimidating in the past, but i decided it’s time i learn it. i’m already noticing weaknesses in my technique that i’ve been able to start correcting, so that’s fun! anyways, i thought this clip turned out awesome. i’ve always dreamed of sounding like randy blythe!

what can i start practicing to hit these kindsa notes with less strain? please read body text!

hello all! i’ve been teaching myself how to sing in my car for the last few years, and i’ve hit a wall that i don’t think i can figure out on my own. if i mess up on any terminology, i apologize!

as you can hear, i’m like almost there. i feel like i’m singing the right note, but it sounds TERRIBLE because i’m straining too hard to get there (maybe i’m a little flat too). i’m wondering if/hoping that someone has recommendations for me on some exercises or habits to start working on to improve my belting range. i’m not looking to go higher than this, i just want to sound more comfortable at this pitch and volume.

or maybe that’s just unrealistic! i’ve been considering that maybe the problem is that i’m just going too loud, but that’s the volume it feels like my voice wants to use, if that makes sense? trying to to that same section quieter results in more strain for me, so maybe that’s a sign to work on something specific? i have no idea!!

that’s why i would love any feedback at all, even if it’s just a few words, i could really use the help! thank you so much in advance!

little motionless in white practice!

i got some positive feedback on my highs on a post from the other day, so i figured i’d show you this video that shows them off a little better. i was definitely feeling better technique-wise this day compared to when my previous video was taken.

been quite a while, here’s a song i love to practice to

“white noise” - beyond deviation, i like it because it gets me using my highest highs and my lowest lows. wasn’t a completely perfect take, but i like it!

been slowly working on this for a while, what’re we thinking? (re-uploaded to be longer)

this is my solo project that i’m gonna call “bitter sanity”, i wrote, performed, recorded, mixed, etc. everything. it’s also my first time making my own music, so i would really appreciate any feedback/advice anyone has. also, i think i went too “depressive suicidal” and not enough “black metal”, but i also don’t really know what else i would call it. lmk if you think it fits the genre, and if not, lmk what you think would fit better, bc i genuinely don’t know.

i’m fully planning on redoing the vocals, and i’m only going to to one or maybe two layers this time. i’m pretty happy with everything else though! this is just the first half, the song is 5 minutes long.

at the pace i’ve been going, i honestly think it’ll take another year for me to finish the rest of the EP. i have 4 other demos to finish, and a lot of learning to do as far as mixing and mastering.
