Love my BF, for me it has virtually no technical shortcomings, i knew 99% of what I was getting when I bought it. But the one thing that really pisses me off is the battery prices… the battery we all know is mediocre… in the UK they’re £99; absolute rip off. Most current gen cameras the batteries are much higher capacity for half the cost. They made a mini battery, the price should reflect this. Rant!!
Oh and the charger is a rip off to.
Sigma is teasing something to come on 07.07.2026. Looking at the red, blue, green colored images, it strongly hints Foveon. What do you all think?
I have a big feeling that it exasperated due to Florida’s crazy heat 85-90 w/humidity…but anyone have any fixes?
Currently seems like I could easily pull it off, if necessary.
Do some of you use the BF as your main / only camera?
I currently own a canon 5d mark IV with a sigma 24mm 1.4 art which is glued to it and never leaves. I also have a ricoh gr 4 always in my pocket for quick snaps. I do mainly street and documentary style photography .
I am currently thinking to swap my heavy DSLR for a smaller setup and hesitating between a few, mainly the Canon r8, the Sony a7c2 and also thinking of the sigma bf or fp as I really like the sigma brand and their products. Still they seem to be a little too "niche" to use as a main body... Thoughts?
In case you haven't come across it yet, over the past few years I have been curating LEICAmount.com (no official endorsement by Leica Camera AG), a searchable database of Leica M Mount, L Mount and S Mount lenses in production.
The crown jewel of this database is the list of 220+ Leica L mount and 180+ Leica M mount lenses from various manufacturers, that can be searched and filtered by specifications; such as mount type, focal length or aperture.
I've been using the database myself for looking up lenses for my Leica M2, so I am confident that you can make it your regular place for comparing and selecting lenses.
The next integration for this Autumn will be adding LTM lenses currently in production. But feel free to drop me a line if you spot any error, or see any lens in production missing from this database.
New to photography here.
Recently got the sigma bf and am loving the experience, but was curious if I could MacGyver a flash solution when I seldom need it.
After researching, it seems like there’s no electronic way to synch a flash unit, but i was wondering if there is a manual way to use a handheld external flash (eg one of these small godox products) and roughly time it with the shutter? Is this realistic or is there just no chance for the BF to use flash?
I was thinking of sending my a7i to get it thin sensor modded to use my ms optic lenses. Decided to just get the sigma bf instead and am loving how it looks, feels, and the significant jump in image quality at the corners.
Any FP FP/L owners here who also have the Sigma BF? I'm curious about how the BF compares. Thanks.
I recently got the Sigma 65mm F2 and went on a little photo walk around Berlin. All images are shot widen open and sooc with the Foveon Yellow profile.
The lens is incredibly sharp, with good contrast. So far I really like it as a versatile companion to the 35mm F2.
All shot SOOC on Forest Green Profile
Hi all, as most of my photos tend to be holiday stuff that includes landscapes and foliage, I've continued trying to find a sweet spot for clouds especially the green - yellow shift and some warmth in white balance.
Here's an image where I've done 4 versions - standard profile and auto white balance, t709 auto white balance, t709 "daylight" white balance, and t709 +1 look effect and daylight white balance.
Personally I think the latter gets the best colours... 709 fixes the greens but in city shots does tend to warm buildings etc. I've noticed auto white balance in sunlight leaves some warming, but switching to daylight setting fixes this.... Though I assume that will be less successful when not in daylight sunlight when taking the photo!
Also one thing I found is standard with look effect -5 seems identical to 709 base, but as you go + on 709 or go to standard -3 or 0 etc standard moves the greens yellow while 709 holds them green but adds punch / saturation.
Interested what others think and have found... I'm really trying to find a "standard" setting where most images come out ok on jpeg, then I edit a few dngs where required... Whereas I've been finding anything with foliage needs a bunch of editing so far (so am planning to try 709 and auto white balance or 709+1 look and daylight as a default).
