I am so salty about this I had to make a post. Finally after 180 hours I got to be thief. My target was the nuke. Like steal the fucking nuke. Are you kidding me? I have never been thief before why not something manageable? But no. So I had no idea what to do but luckily my fellow salvs (I was a salv) couldn't find suits I think it was delta station? iirc... Anyway, they decided to steal lockers from all the other departments to pay for suits. They taught me how to use fultons and showed me some backdoor accesses, really helpful thief stuff actually, thanks salvs.
So I decided to use fultons to get the nuke cause what was I gonna do drag it down the hallway? I finally got to emag or whatever into the vault, and that's when i learn you can't move the nuke with fultons without the disk. It was like 10 til evac. So, my objective was to get the nuke yes, but in reality it was to get the nuke disk. How was i gonna know that? Where is the nuke disk? On the Captain, who also hands out a pointer for someone to locate it. The game doesn't tell you you need the disk, and I'm pretty sure that's one of the hardest things to steal and get away with it. My whole plan was stupid because I never stole the disk.
I'm salty because A: I had no idea I needed the disk I've never had to interact with the nuke before, B: Because that was a stupid objective like why not 10 IDs or something, and C: Turns out thieves aren't allowed to be salvs because they can't use weapons. I had to injure myself with a pickax and act real dumb to get outta work which I guess is allowed despite pacifism...
I dunno I will ask the internet, how on earth does one steal the nuke codes and not get caught? That doesn't seem... feasible... but I'm guessing someone out there has an answer. And please don't start your answer with "why didn't you just?" or "you simply had to" or anything like that because SS14 is a cryptic ass game and I'm not dumb for not knowing every mechanic even after 180 hours. Like its a hard game to learn man. Maybe everything is obvious to you but... not to me.
I Found this wierd recepie on Goobstation and cant make it, i have made meat with uncooked animal proteins but never synth meat and im lost
Just noticed this and got a kick out of it
Thanks, space guide guy
Hi guys, I recently joined the Space Station 14 player community and I want to ask the old-timers if the game is really dying. Yes, I've been watching YouTube videos that have been released for a long time, but there are still some amazing players who play daily.

For me it’s probably Spy
Hey!
This post is "inspired" by a post here earlier about Funky's disclaimer. (and has one of the exact examples)
I'd really like some advice on seperating the character and the player.
I feel like even tho I try not to, I end up reflecting myself on to the characters I play and it kinda hinders the roleplay elemet. For example, when my character gets framed of a crime and I am jailed, I lose a good bit of the enjoyment of that round. Even tho the general story ends up being super cool (which is the entire point of the game), I just cant appriciate it as much as I want to.
ss14 is my first actuall rp game and I would still consider myself new since I am still learning new things every few rounds. Idk what I wanna hear so this may be a kind of a rant but still please do tell me how you enjoy these kinds of events etc.
I found a vending machine that was moving, inspecting it showed that it's a mimic.
it seemed harmless but someone came and critted it, then another person gibbed it for no reason.
what do mimics do? i was unable to find any information about them on the internet in relation to SS14
the server was wizard's den lizard
The only way I see to get it online is by emagging a vending machine, but the only way (that I know of) to get an emag is by being a traitor. Is there any way to get around this, or any alternative way to get Nothing?
I think that this content warning is a good thing. It goes over the things that a new player should expect and be prepared for to happen.
Could have used it in my first round of ss13 ever... where I ended up welded in a lokcer floating of the station in less than a minute of arriving.
or the second one where i got gibbed by two seccies for thinking I was a ling.
(I didint even know how to speak)
I also like that it calls the crew incompetent, which is a fun theme for ss14. Like the place where you get stationed at if you messed up. makes it for very interesting interactions.
But what do they mean with "Do not make a stand in for yourself"? Why would that be an incorrect way of playing the game?
A DM at tabletop may notice if you do a stand in for yourself and choose to not accept your character, but like how would an admin know!
Whats the rationale behind this? are they afraid of people having too high of an emotional attachment to their character?
btw I dont play a stand in character. I am not a giant bee.
As NTR I convinced the rest of command on a low pop server to unlock the armory to the rest of the crew and make the first "nanotrasen games". when everyone instead teamed up to kill command (we barricaded ourselves in the bridge) instead of each other, it devolved into more of the purge. after getting ahelped and yelled at by admins I'm banned from all command, centcomm, and security roles for two weeks. 10/10 experience would do again.
