As a lifelong rhythm game addict Stage Tour doesn't feel different.

Is it different sure, you can argue it's different. But it's different mainly because Rock Band 4 and Guitar Hero Live didn't sell well and ultimately flopped hard basically killing the genre. Rock Band 4 and Guitar Hero Live existed and wasn't successful even though they were official games. They say "it's not just another rhythm game". But when I see it I see well yet another rhythm game (pun intended). Fortnite Festival also exists so Stage Tour needs to do more than simply exist as a new thing to win people over.

It has to be more compelling than what's already out there. Stage Tour only exists because Clone Hero and YARG kept the fire alive after RB4 and Guitar Hero Live had snuffed it out. They scratched that rhythm game itch fans had been missing, preserving the spirit of the originals and giving people real reasons to stay passionate about this style of game. And the best part is those games are free!! And you're able to include every single track ever released in any RB or GH game. Not to mention it let's you create your own custom charts.

I need to see what Stage Tour actually brings that those don't. And if the answer is just pre-made characters, stages, and a bunch of paid content. Well that's effectively Rock Band 4 pre-made characters, x amount of stages, and a fuck ton of DLC. They talk about this "campaign mode" but is that different? You want different different is Guitar Hero Live. Now that was different it had a new 6 fret guitar. Instead of an animated band it had this cool POV of you essentially playing in front of a live crowd. It also had "power-ups" in the form of various different star power. The crowd reacted to how you played. These cool MTV Style music channels. Even though they didn't have standard DLC that you could buy like with rock band 4. And instead of having this live service online on demand system etc you get the point. It was still different.

I love rhythm games and have been playing them practically all my life. I play Rock Band 4 all the time. I bought and have every piece of DLC content that was ever released within Rock Band 4. All the different export packs that were available for Rock Band 4 to import the songs from previous Rock Band games I have all of that. I even own and still play to this day Rock Band VR. I have 10,000 plus songs in Clone Hero. I play that religiously. Guitar Hero live is one of my favorite games of the franchise. I love the secret guitar that is one of my favorite guitars I love the whole secret charts those are my favorites. I say all that to say I'm going to buy this game day one.

Also don't get me wrong I'm very excited that rhythm games are making a comeback and everything. I never thought I would see the day where a new guitar, drum set, and microphone is made and released in the year 2026. Also just to clarify I'm saying this all from the point of view of if I wasn't the huge rhythm game fan that I am. "This isn't just another rhythm game, it's Stage Tour" looking at it from point of view of if I wasn't a huge rhythm game fan that doesn’t sell me on the game.

I want to know why I should be excited for this. So far the high points seem to be new peripherals guitar, drumkit, this new "campaign mode", etc. Their elevator pitch seems to be this new campaign mode. This new campaign mode is seemingly what is going to be used to put asses in the seats.

Now that I think about it didn't RB4's career Tour mode or whatever it was called have essentially the same thing in terms of different setlists per venue/city as you progressed. Branching paths based on bandmate decisions ultimately affecting rewards, story/dialogue, and some opportunities. It's so amazing that Mimi's Delivery Service by Good Kid is in the game. I love that song so much!! But then again I alredy have that song in Rock Band 4 and I play it a lot.

Opinions On New Announcements for Stage Tour

Okay, I can admit that Avril Lavigne and Paramore aren't my favourites but the songs and Airhead are very catchy. I'm really glad they're going broad but focused. They're not doing a GH5 and including tracks you won't remember afterwards.

Here are some opinions about where I'd like it go next but I'm very open minded and confident with what comes next:

I'd like another song from Brand New. GH5 did set the bar low with Sowing Season (Yeah) as it's very slow but the band does have some more heavier and catchier stuff. My pick would be The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows.

Bon Jovi deserves a deep cut. In These Arms would be a good shout or maybe one from the These Days album like the title track.

If they're going to include Green Day, either include a song from a much earlier album or their latest album because a huge part of their catalogue is based around their biggest hits from Rock Band. Nuclear Family being an exception.

There are a lot of classic rock staples eager for an on disc moment such as Mötley Crue - Kickstart My Heart and Quiet Riot - Cum On Feel The Noize.

But for the heavier prog and Metal stuff, stuff with energy is what's going to come out so:

- Slayer, Pantera and maybe Sepultura should make a debut

- Obviously Avenged Sevenfold

- People are going to fight for GOAT - Polyphia lol

- Eclipse and Dynazty are deep cut bands I think should include

- A Marc Hudson era DragonForce song

- I'd like more Strung Out, maybe a song from Transmission Alpha Delta like Rats In The Walls

A lot of bands still to make their debut in an on disc:

- Three Days Grace

- Periphery

- Sevendust

- Between The Buried And Me (another song from colors would be awesome)

- The Amity Affliction

- As I Lay Dying

I think this setlist will be a banger but these are more just suggestions than anything else!

Muse new album

Muse just released a new album today!

If you had to pick a song from Muse for the game, what would it be?

My choices : Cryogen (from the new album) or Unnatural Selection (from The Resistance)
