One of the most annoying things happened to me yesterday.

I was doing the Weekly mission which included doing the Viewpoint mission. I matchmake and join a group figured it would take >10 minutes. I join and my weapon has no ammo. To my dismay I realize this guy has 6 directives applied to the mission. Including Ammo Hoarders, special ammo, fog of war, pistolero, etc. I was annoyed because it would take much longer but I sigh and take out my pistol. We are at the very beginning.

The group leader immediately sprints forward and goes down. I down a couple of enemies and get some ammo. The leader calls for help and then disconnects. Then another...then the other leaving me alone. We hadn't even gotten out of the starting area...why put on directives if you can't handle them?!

The catalyst ... im disapointed son , and a bit of a rant about perpetuation.

Been a while since i adopted the habit to roughly every half hour go into brooklin praying the right boss would be at the pier spot , today was finaly the day , i prayed to the RNG gods while hosing Charlie down with bullets and the gods smiled, but oh boy what a disapointment of an exotic.

https://preview.redd.it/aevpr7jckgbh1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=ba7e0db75cfe1b8f399d309e35fc2d429591914f

its miles worse than a 3 yellow investor for a status build damage, duration and haste wise even at full stacks , and the worst part is that the buffs only apply after the first time you applied the initial status that makes the buff go up, and just like perpetuation it does not apply at all on status transfer , so its a no no for any eclipse build , leaving the question , what is this mask good for?

and why once again hazard on it? just like the vile , just why ? instead of hazard the vile should have explosive damage and the catalyst should have skill haste, IMO.

and just a small bit about perpetuation , its a talent i like , i do use it every now and then to have a fast stronger start on an encounter , but the fact that it gets consumed on eclipse status transfer while giving a big fat nothing in return never sat well with me , feels like a bug that was never looked at.

PvE no SA and No box keys

Ive been in here for a good while. I’ve been in an alert 1, sometimes 2 for a while now. I’ve cleared 8+ landmarks. No Stabilization Agents and no key for boxes.

I mean I can’t even open a landmark box let alone extract, WTH? They have to provide options for opening boxes. All the little boxes I open are dz resources. How do you get keys to open the LM boxes??

Do I really need to keep at least one of each weapon?

I've returned to Div2 after so many years and already got overwhelmed with storage management (across all four alts!) trying to keep at least one of each piece of gear, but when it comes to weapons, I noticed that there's a few community favs that are used across different builds that mostly are exotic or named. Therefore, do I really need to keep a perfect roll, for example, of your ACRs, Socoms, SIGs, etc. etc. Is there like a widely agreed on must have "normy" weapons so I can get rid of all the rest? And don't get me started on armor hoarding! :p

Revisiting D1

Just wanted to wax poetic on Div1. I was one of the original early adopters—I checked my old Xbox characters I hadn’t played in ten years and had over 700 hours logged, lol.

Came back to the game recently on PS5 to play with a friend. Got the old itch near 30 and pushed into postgame—it’s felt like coming home. Hilariously already have a comparable build after forty hours compared to the 700 on Xbox. Getting a teal drop was like finding an oasis in the desert in those days.

Also, Survival remains peak. “Vandra” is GOATed.

Might also revisit Div2! Played through “Warlords” but never stuck with the postgame—never caught me. But I’d like to give it another shake.

My top 3 most embarrassing moments in The Division 2

1. Dumping a whole magazine into an "enemy" before realizing it was just a Decoy.
2. Trying to deploy my drone but throwing away my Reviver Hive instead.
3. Panic-rolling into cover without noticing a teammate was already there. He got pushed out into the open and took an immediate headshot.
Your turn!

All the Gear and No idea.

Recently came back to division 2 and have amassed a number of meta builds with max rolls (not expertise level 30 though) and got my shd level to 1000.

However I'm still struggling with something as a solo heroic tidal basin.

So my question to you as a community. What tips would you give someone in this situation to enhance their skill and gameplay to allow them to play escalations at higher tiers.

What are the purple gear slots?

Been gone for a hot minute. Looking at some builds to go after, and noticed this guy's load out. Why is his mask and primary purple?

Proto cores - so now what?

Got a ton of proto cores. What’s next? More exotics to build more sets? More end game? What are you guys doing?

Rage Event

Is it just me, or is this event trash? Let's make the enemies a lot harder initially, for a small buff that you get if and when you kill things (so it doesn't really matter at that point), but then also make it annoyingly a pain in the ass when you're with anything other than a well coordinated group. Nevermind this on escal or some of the legendary missions.

Am I missing something here? Any time I group with someone and see this thing on (maybe outside of retals or just heroic open world) I just want to bail.

Prototype Gear / Escalation has way too many RNG layers and the grind is becoming exhausting

I want to give feedback about Prototype Gear and Escalation, because after spending a lot of time with the system, I honestly feel like the grind has too many RNG layers stacked on top of each other.

The idea of Prototype Gear is interesting. Having augments that can change how a build plays is a nice concept. But in practice, the amount of RNG and time investment required makes the system feel extremely punishing.

To build one proper Prototype setup, you need to go through all of this:

  1. Wait for the right Escalation targeted loot rotation For example, if you want Striker Prototype pieces, you need Striker to appear as targeted loot in Escalation. There is no clear predictable schedule, so you might wait weeks without knowing when the set will come back.
  2. Farm high tiers, usually T8-T10 The best rewards are tied to higher tiers, but those tiers are also where enemy damage and scaling feel the most punishing. Sometimes even basic red NPCs can delete you extremely fast, which makes the farming process frustrating rather than challenging.
  3. Hope the right set piece drops Even when Striker is targeted loot, you still need the correct slot to drop.
  4. Hope the stats are usable A lot of drops are rainbow rolls or have bad attributes. Getting the correct brand/set piece is not enough. The piece still needs good stats, otherwise it is not worth investing into.
  5. Hope the augment is the right one Even after finally getting the right piece with decent stats, you still need the correct augment. If not, you have to reroll.
  6. Spend Prototype Cores on rerolls Rerolling augments costs cores, and those are not cheap considering how much you need them for everything else.
  7. Level the augment Even after getting the correct augment, you still need a huge amount of XP to level it up to 10. This takes a very long time.
  8. Risk discovering later that the augment is underwhelming, unclear, or possibly bugged This is probably the most frustrating part. Some augments sound great on paper, but in practice they are hard to notice or do not seem to work as expected.

Examples:

Quantum sounds amazing because it gives a chance to become immune to damage. But after using several maxed Quantum pieces for a long time, the effect is very hard to notice in normal combat. It seems much more visible on fall damage, hazard/status damage, or area damage than against normal NPC gunfire. With only 3 pieces, it feels unreliable, and even with more pieces it is still RNG-based. If enemies can burst you down instantly, Quantum does not feel like a dependable survival tool.

Paradox is also confusing. The tooltip can suggest that it refills the magazine by 100, but in practice it seems to only return one or two bullets when it procs. If that is intended, the tooltip is misleading. If it is not intended, then the augment is bugged. Either way, it makes it very hard to know whether the investment is worth it.

This is the core problem: the system asks for a massive time investment, but the effects are not always clear, reliable, or well explained.

By the time you finally get:

  • the right targeted loot rotation,
  • the right gear set,
  • the right slot,
  • the right stats,
  • the right augment,
  • enough cores,
  • enough XP to level it,

you are already extremely invested. So if the augment ends up being disappointing, bugged, stealth nerfed, or simply not working as expected, it feels terrible.

The system needs fewer layers of RNG or better ways to target what we actually want.

Some possible improvements:

  • Let players select targeted loot for Escalation, like Summit or Countdown.
  • Add a visible schedule for Escalation targeted loot rotations.
  • Let players choose or craft a specific augment after enough investment.
  • Reduce the XP needed to level augments.
  • Improve augment tooltips so they accurately describe what the effect really does.
  • Add clear buff icons or combat log feedback for augments like Quantum and Paradox.
  • Make rerolling less punishing once a piece has already been heavily invested in.
  • Give players a way to transfer an augment level from one Prototype piece to another, even with a cost.

Prototype Gear could be a great system, but right now it feels like RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG.

The grind would be more acceptable if the final result felt reliable and clearly explained. But when the augment itself is uncertain or hard to verify, the whole system becomes frustrating.

I do not mind farming. I do not mind long-term progression. But the current Prototype system feels too punishing for the amount of uncertainty involved.

Is this Turret/Drone build the new meta? Need advice on the best attributes.

Hey everyone, I just stumbled across this build and from what I can tell, it's a turret/drone setup. Can anyone tell me if this is the new meta? If it is, what are the ideal attributes I should look for on the gear pieces?

What does “Tech Efficiency” do for the shield from Artificer Hive?

I can’t find a straight answer to this. When you increase the expertise of “Artificer Hive” that is the name. Not skill efficiency.

I understand I think it doesn’t actually help the shield repair from the hive but does it offer ANYTHING is all I want to know…

Increase shield health? Damage mitigation? Cooldown? ANYTHING? Or is it ENTIRELY USELESS for a shield build?

PvE Dark Zone is really fun after the latest changes and fixes!

The fact that players can't use the hunters to intentionally kill players and steal their contaminated loot made extractions fun but the most important fix, at least in my books, was the damage not registering at first when shooting an enemy.

Last week, I would start shooting, dump over half a mag into an NPC and no damage was registering. By the time the enemy started to lose some armor I would have to reload, this while being targeted by every NPC in the landmark from the first bulet fired. It wasn't fun and it made clearing landmarks way more difficult than it needed to be.

This bug being fixed made landmark clearing and extractions fun, played every night since Tuesday and there were no bad experiences at all whether I was playing solo or with random group.

are the dlc still very important?

I remember wanting to play the division 2 some time ago, and saw some videos saying that the new york dlc was like... the 90% of the game cause it raised the level cap and added the endgame.

Did things change? or is the endgame and the level cap a standard thing now? cause I want to start playing and idk if buy the dlc or not

Things that are bugging me and puzzling me about DZ

They arrive in a team. You call for extraction. They kill all hunters before you get a shot on. It should be same as the boxes. If you are there shooting, you should get the drops from all hunters, regardless if you hit each one. Discourages solo play.

Same with the landmark bosses. If you don’t get a bullet on the boss you don’t get a chance for a Stabilization Agent. BS, especially if you are taking care of business in your area.

Also didn’t the devs say that a visit to the checkpoint would cleanse your toxicity? Well that’s not working.

Additionally, I did hear the devs say that PvP DZ would give 2 exotic components from the landmark crates. Went to both PvP dz today and rank the boxes a few times. Only ever got 1 exotic component at a time. Did I hear that wrong.

What is the point of continuing?

So I recently continued playing Division 2 and killed the general and then Black Tusk took over the map. So I started taking back Control Points, and I thought I was going crazy that once I had taken back like a second Control Point in the same area that that the previous one I did is now back under control of the people who had it before. Only to find out that is what is going to happen to every single one I try to take back.

Edit: I really only want to play these games for the story and not to gain a lot of xp for whatever reason. I have yet to buy that dlc where you go back to New York.
