PvE Darkzone in new upcoming season for Div 2, thoughts?

Latest PTS news stream announced rotating DZ modifiers where 1 area is the DZ we know today, 1 area with "Normalized" stats meaning SHD watch level bonuses won't be applied nor Gear Expertise bonuses as well, and lastly a PvE only DZ Area for new season related activities. These modifiers rotate between the 3 DZ areas per week so it'll stay fresh.

Personally I'm exciting for it and I know it isn't for everyone but for the folks who mostly enjoy the PvE this is interesting news to say the least! At least until further details and adjustments are made over the matter. Correct me if I'm wrong with the details or missed anything here.

How are y'all playing on Heroic and Legendary?

I can never play on those 2 levels. I play exclusively on Challenging only. Nothing higher nothing lower. It's not that I can't do those 2 levels, but I can't enjoy playing at those levels.

How is the experience on Heroic and Legendary like? Is it always 1 or 2 steps away from death? Always has to be on super high alert? Requires extremely fast and accurate reactions all the time? Always being a glass cannon?

I'm someone who likes healing and tanking much more than dps. That's the role I usually play in RPGs... healers, tanks, etc. So naturally I really dislike glass cannons. But in a game like Division, you ultimately have to kill all enemies to win, and I play solo most of the time so I'm the only one I can depend on to end all enemies.

Usually, I run this loadout...

  • 4p Umbra
  • Memento
  • 1 Belstone
  • 5 blue, 2 yellow, 1 red
  • Mostly crit attributes
  • Bulwark shield max tier
  • Striker drone tier 2
  • Diamondback
  • Lexington (In-sync)
  • KARD-45 (In-sync)

Or, even more defensively...

  • 4p Foundry
  • Memento
  • 1 Belstone
  • 5 blue, 2 yellow, 1 red
  • Mostly crit attributes
  • Bulwark shield max tier
  • Striker drone tier 2
  • Police Mk17 (Lucky shot)
  • Lexington (In-sync)
  • Liberty

As you can see, I have a very comfortable playstyle, but these loadouts aren't suitable to be used on Heroic and Legendary. When I check out other people's builds for Heroic and Legendary and Master, I thought... "Wow, that's pretty darn squishy." That's the issue. The higher the difficulty level, the more narrow your choices of viable builds. I can't enjoy the game playing what and how I like to play on those higher levels.

So, back to my question... How is it like to play on levels above Challenging? Thank you.

Edit:
Wow thanks for all the replies. Rest assured every comment will be read. Thanks.

Edit 2:
I understand the strategies and tricks to push forward aggressively in higher difficulty levels, but as I said, my preference for defensive play in games means I love the feeling of not being able to die no matter how enemies come at me. Lol. Like there's nothing they could do to kill me while I end them. My fun is derived from such a playstyle. But the tips and tricks you all mentioned are very helpful in many ways. I highly appreciate. Thanks to all of you. I play mostly solo, so if there's a need for me to go higher levels (like in order to get that specific exotic or something), then I would. Thank you.

So they are going to fix the token payouts on escalation...

Watching the Content reveal with DEVS

They haven't said what the new payout is, but the host will recieve more tokens, because they are taking all the risk.

And they are going to re-add proto drops to crates!!!

Escalation proto re roll costs are a joke but here is my solution for this week

Now I have your attention some might know and some might not but I came across a good proto farm last night in a team playing DUA basically get to the boss as fast as you can and leave him alone is all I'm saying for those constant spawns and protos 🙏

Is there a viable setup for refractor at higher escalations other than drone?

With how Paradox works with chem launchers, could oxidizer be an option instead of using a drone?

If this was viable, what pieces would you use.

I was thinking of stacking paradox on 4 pieces and maybe an Investor mask but unsure of a backpack or chest. Combined arms only lasts 3s, shooting switching back and forth with a chem launcher and a gun seems clunky. Oxidizer also seems to not be a status effect so that knocks some stuff out too.

Just curious if this is something to look into or just stick with a drone.

Rework loot from projects to reflect new realities in game

With the intro of prototype gear and escalation it seems the only two game modes people are playing is escalation, and some retaliation and that's about it. The rewards for weekly legendary mission (one exotic cache) and the other weekly project (3 exo components) are no longer worth the time invested. No one seems to want to work on their projects for such limited rewards. You can also matchmake for hours to do the incursion.

Say what you want about destiny (I've played it and left along time ago be a use if the grind that never pays off even though I payed for the dlc and season pass etc) but at least they kept the content flowing, there value in doing your dailies, and weeklies each time you got on, and then running the raids on a regular basis.

In the division, it just seems there's no incentive to return to the content, or run your projects on a regular basis any more. Just retaliation and escalation, so if that's the case add projects for these game modes or increase the number of exos from existing projects or add a proto cache or something. The seasonal daily mission should also give exo components. Also escalation should reward a guaranteed proto at the end with increased chances at higher tiers or a core at least with increasing cores at higher tiers especially for the agent risking to tokens. If they don't fix the token issue, but this would encourage more people to host and risk tokens.

My last little but will be unpopular but I think it should be reverted back to non targeted drops, random, it was meant to be a longterm grind for veterans and its turned into a new player can get the best new gear. Or as I've seen mentioned before the proto gear shouldn't drop at lvl 30, and can only be equiped once it is, that way agents would still need to grind to use it which would at least make it somewhat fair to the grind veteran agents have but in to level up their gear in the past.

Exo components..

been farming priority objectives across 4 characters prioritizing exotics for re rolls at SHD 5500 with a full proto striker build lvl 10 echo augments. heroic with 4 directives and event active for extra exo catches.. i’m averaging around 20/25 exotics in 6 hours of focused basically speed running gameplay. this seems so unrewarding and low. average gamer is prob getting half that?!

feels bad man..

anyone else been able to find a better way for components?

Brooklyn Days - no tasks in Brooklyn?

Why Brooklyn days have literally ZERO tasks in Brooklyn? There are no target activities in Brooklyn for this event at all. Only a new hunter who will not serve for mini-season progression. This is how DLCs become dead without further hope. Pity such a great potential is not used again, same as they burried WONY.

The division 2 - Critical hit damage and critical hit chance question

Should I recalibrate critical hit damage for critical hit chance? I made a build by copying Ikia's builds around like a year ago and now with Unit alloys new gear I put this build together but checking the stats I think my critical hit chance is low, what do you think? thank you agents!

Are agents in Division 2 weakest faction now ?

My mean, in Division 1, Agents have top tiers toys and strong like in the lore. Enemies can't detect or even know Agents are coming / sneaking behind, they even scare / scream / can't even see through wall and can't homing grenades.

Then come to Division 2, Agents feel like a joke...only 3 tap then bye bye. Enemies now can jam, wall hack, know where Agents are aiming at, have more armor and feel like real armor, no cool down skills, CBQ can stunt, able to stand while got headshot, minigun have no cooling down and even have unlimited special ammo....

When will Agents have new tech like robot dog, shoulder rockets...or at least able to change special ammo / consumables / grenade types like Division 1 ?

Darpa Research Labs escalation not starting because the group is considered ineligible

Darpa Research Labs/The Pentagon Missions won't start after paying the tokens because a group member hasn't completed the mission at base difficulty, and the mission only starts after said player leaves.

This is yet another reason why we need matchmaking, a refund option or to remove the buy-in token system all together.

Or maybe auto cancel invites as a host to players who are ineligible.

There's simply no excuse for issues like this and the countless amount of disconnects.

Fix your damn game Massive.

Understanding later game progression; help for a noob and casual gamer

Hello, Agents. A very casual gamer + D2 newb question here: this may be obvious, but I'm uncertain as to how to continue levelling my gear / firepower at this point. I'm chiefly playing on Heroic across the map bounties and control points. Exclusively PVE both solo and in teams.

- My library is almost entirely finished, and I am rarely getting gear that borders my current set in drops. Am I just playing the wrong modes?

- To get stronger, Is it simple a matter of keep grinding for better gear set drops with better attributes?

- I've only found one prototype so far, and I've re-rolled the Augment until getting something halfway decent. Should I be playing anything specific to get more proto gear? How is it people are having almost entirely proto-equipped builds?

- Should I be crafting anything? I rarely do, it's unclear to me if it's worth the time. I have a ton of materials, though.

Any advice would be appreciated here.

Brooklyn will get a bit more scarier!

"While you enjoy the celebration, remember that Brooklyn may not be as quiet as it seems.

Starting May 26, new activity has been detected beneath the city. Agents returning to the area may come face to face with the Phoenix Hunter."
