Obtaining License Plate for a New Car

Hi,

I am buying a car for the first time in Tuscaloosa, AL. To register the vehicle and get the license plate, do I go to the Tuscaloosa County License Commission?

I saw that there is a Tuscaloosa County Online Tag Portal. Does this mean I apply for the tag online without going to the license commission?

I appreciate your advice.

Looking to spread elderberry trees, need landowner blessings

This is a longshot but, hey I'm your local elderberry nut job! I love them, the flowers, the berries, the fact they're native to the area and that birds and other native animals need them to thrive. They're great in almost every yard, field, treeline, and will quickly reseed and take over an ugly area and give you a functioning food forest in a fairly short amount of time, think 3-5 years. So, I will be taking about 100 cuttings and planting them next year, but want to get ahead of that and just ask if anyone wants them. It's free, seriously, I just need a place to plant them. Preferably in West Alabama, near the Tuscaloosa - Birmingham area would be best but I don't mind a short drive.

EDIT: everyone has been added to the list. Come back next February and we'll work the logistics out

Got a great apartment recommendation here and have been in it a little over a year now. Looking to upsize. Any recommendations for a 2 bed 2 bath apartment?

I would love to stay where I am but this complex only offers a 2 bedroom 1 bath at most.

I’m currently in Northport and I do like being here but I’m not closed off to Tuscaloosa. Just looking for something nice that doesn’t come with loads of issues.

Best trivia nights in Tuscaloosa for showing up solo?

Hello y’all! I’m from Tuscaloosa/Northport but I’m trying to get out more this summer and actually do things instead of just saying I should do things!

Does anyone have any recommendations for good trivia nights around town? I’m a PhD student and I’m not taking classes this summer, so I’d love to meet more people while my schedule is a little less chaotic. I’d especially love places where it would be normal to show up solo, or trivia groups that might be open to a new person joining.

Small note: I’m sober, but I’m fine being around alcohol, so bars/breweries are okay. I’d just like somewhere that still feels fun and welcoming if I’m not drinking (California sober).

Summer recs would be great, and fall recs are welcome too, especially nights other than Wednesday.

I am friendly, moderately funny, and really useful in trivia! Thank you!

Skeet Shooting

Is there anywhere near Tuscaloosa that one can go skeet shooting with their own gun / ammo? I know about South Sandy but its quite out of the way still and accessing it with a car is somewhat unpleasant (but doable if you go the main direction).

Optionally, I would accept if someone simply has a property they dont care if someone goes into and shoots. I would pick everything up of course, but I don't want to sign up for any of the clubs etc around here since I will leave late summer.

Reputable towing- not a shake down

Anyone else find Jeff’s Towing to be a sham? They tried to tow a car in a spot with a sign CLEARLY blocked by bushes and not visible to the driver. There were a lot of empty spots- just my car and maybe 6 others. Then the tower shook the driver down for $100 cash and wouldn’t provide a receipt. Anyone know of other towing companies in town that are more reputable? I see this one in town but I’m thinking I should avoid them in the future.
