How do I check if the plots have been relumed?
I have a 16750 from the 80s which I bought last year from a reputable seller in my country saying it is all original go the wtaxh.
A friend told me it might be relumed. Any experts can comment?

Hello all,
I have a 16233 datejust that came with the factory champagne dial and also this black Arabic dial. I believe the black dial to be aftermarket, and not genuine. How can I be sure though? Is there any chance this may have started as a genuine dial before having the stones set? Not sure what to do with it how to gauge its value.
Walked into a vintage watch store this past weekend and as soon as I saw this watch I knew it was the one for me! I’ve been looking for a quality everyday wear for a while now and this looked to fit the bill. I’m no Rolex expert so I could have paid too much, but I like researching things and being informed, so I’ve kept my “toes in the water” so to speak on pricing.
So what the heck is this thing? Well, I believe it’s a 1976 Rolex Datejust Ref. 1601 with a ‘Tropical’ Blue dial. The watch came with two leather straps, and was priced at $3500.
The 1601 DJ is such a classic Rolex, and that dial is just enough of a subtle flair to make it a unique everyday wear. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I freaking love the dial!
I’ve opened up the case back and it seems to have the correct movement (1570). There is some heavier pitting on the inside edge of the case, and the oscillating wheel looks to have cracked in two spots. Last service was mid-2019, but it’s running smoothly and winds nicely. If anyone has things I should watch out for or maintenance tips please let me know.
So, how did I do?
What do you guys think?
Love it or hate it?
Picked up a vintage Oyster Royal not too long ago for $1200 with the original box. The seller said it belonged to his uncle and that it was from the 50s. Serviced 8 years ago and on a 7205 bracelet. I found the dial too interesting to pass on. How did I do?
I bought this 16030 a few weeks ago and love it so far. But I don’t love the end links fitment, how can I fix it? Is it a wrong spring bar? Or do I need to replace them?
Inherited my grandfathers watch. Got it professionally cleaned and serviced. Believe it’s a tropical dial but not sure exact model, any info on what it is exactly? Think it’s from the 60’s or so.
Also we have no idea of the value?
The crown can't be screwed down and this was my late granddad's
I personally love the patina as it gives the watch a special character, but some say it just looks heavily used.
What do you think?
I just inherited this watch and am curious your thoughts.
They don’t red ones any more … but I not sure about old watches .. but it’s a beauty to me
Enjoying this 18238 lately.
1 watch but different feels depending on the light and angle.

It’s a 26mm 79178
Probably a fake?
I remember seeing the box about 20 years ago. My father threw it away because he didn’t think it mattered, but it had the receipt and stamp of a local jewelry store near us that still sells Rolexes, I believe it was the 80s written on it.
I’m trying to get the watch fixed now does anyone know if the bronze tint on the bezel is normal after being stored for many years?
Thanks for the feedback.
I can share more photos or infos if needed.
I was in my hometown of Carmel-by-the Sea visiting my family this past week, which also happened to be Monterey Car Week and I saw this 1998 Daytona for $400,000 at Fourtané Jewelers.
Fourtané has always specialized in vintage pieces, even before the CPO Program, but I was wondering what makes this particular piece worth so much?
I don't know much about the Daytona in general but definitely not a piece from when I was 18-years old.
Their next most expensive pieces were a 1980 Day-Date @ $250,000 and 1997 Daytona @ $180,000 (both white gold)
SPECS:
~ 1998
~ White Gold
~ 40mm

This is/was my grandfathers patent pending 1665 gifted to me after he passed. At the time I knew nothing about vintage Rolex, but soon learned with the help of the internet watch community. I enjoyed it for a long time but sold it 9 years ago as the down payment on our first house when I turned 30. I miss it every day
