Decided to update the livearea page to make it more lively (get it!!?? im sooo funn ok ill stop)

This was actually the original idea i had for the original one but ended up scrapping the big text, ended up restoring it cuz why not lol its cute

Instructions

If you already have E4V++ installed, copy the contents inside the sce_sys folder to:

ur0:appmeta/EMU4VPLUS

If you dont, you can copy the sce_sys folder to the .vpk (turn it into a .zip by renaming the file), merge and overwrite if it asks you to

(if you unpacked the .zip file you can use the option to install the folder in VitaShell)

if you installed the previous one, the old text might still be there, it should be gone if you reinstall the .vpk with the new files :p

(you wont lose any data because the important stuff is stored on ux0:/data/EMU4VITAPLUS, you can back it up if you want to anyways)

Vita NS Controller: Use your PS Vita as a Bluetooth controller for Nintendo Switch

I’ve been working on Vita NS Controller, a homebrew that lets a hacked PS Vita connect directly to a Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 as a Bluetooth controller. No relay device or modded Switch needed.

VitaBtFix 1.0 - Fix silent audio with newer Bluetooth headphones on PS Vita (AirPods Pro 2)

Recently got a Vita and was disappointed my AirPods Pro 2 paired normally but wouldn’t play any sound. After a lot of reverse engineering on Sony’s Bluetooth stack, I got them working.

The issue turned out to be in the Vita’s A2DP implementation: it increments the audio timestamp incorrectly. Some newer headsets appear to reject the resulting stream, while many older Bluetooth headphones tolerate it.

VitaBtFix patches the incorrect timestamp increment. After that, AirPods play game and system audio normally.

  • This should work with all AirPods. Models that have been confirmed include AirPods Pro 2, Pro 3, and Airpods 4 on Vita firmware 3.65
  • Other newer SBC headphones with the same silent-audio issue may work too
  • Does not add AAC or LE Audio support
  • Experimental kernel plugin
  • Hold L at boot if you ever need to skip kernel plugins

Download: https://github.com/gabew100/VitaBtFix

Install: copy vitabtfix.skprx to ur0:tai/, add ur0:tai/vitabtfix.skprx under *KERNEL in ur0:tai/config.txt, then reboot.

If you try headphones that were silent before, tell me what model they are and whether they work so I can add them to the compatibility list.

Disclaimer: AI was used to assist with SceBt reverse engineering.

Edit: Update 1.1 released! Fixes a black screen some people got right after the headphones connected.

I’m building an open-source PS Vita homebrew client for RomM.

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a small PS Vita homebrew app called **Vita RomM**.

The idea is simple: it is a client for a self-hosted RomM server. It lets a user browse their own library from a modded PS Vita, view cover art, download files from their own server, and install supported content locally on the Vita.

Current supported platforms:

  • PlayStation Vita
  • PSP / Adrenaline

Current features:

  • Connects to a user-configured RomM server via URL + API token
  • Shows PS Vita and PSP libraries
  • Displays game covers from RomM
  • Downloads selected files from the user’s own RomM instance
  • Installs PS Vita ZIP layouts into `ux0:app`, `ux0:patch`, `ux0:rePatch`, etc.
  • Installs PSP ISO/CSO/PBP files into Adrenaline paths
  • Has a manual LiveArea refresh option
  • Does not include any games, keys, licenses, tickets, firmware, decryption code, or Sony assets

I want to publish the source code on GitHub, but I’m trying to be careful before doing that.

I’d be happy to hear feedback from people who have published Vita homebrew before, especially around project structure, README wording, and what should or should not be included in a public repository.

Thanks!

Just got my Vita back out

Hi everyone,

So I just got my Vita back out (1000 OLED). It's probably my second favourite console after my psp that died a far too early death. I've managed to get it to turn on after some worrying hours of flashing orange light. You can see the screen isn't in the best condition, tropical climates maybe taking their toll, even though it has been stored properly, but I'm hopeful it will be ok for what I want it to do!

Anyway, long story short... I definitely want to jailbreak it and get the most out of it. I've got a Vita2SD coming in the next couple of days but also need to get a decent MicroSD card, if there are any recommendations or tips with speed etc, I'd appreciate them!

Also, I've got some games saved on it that I fancy a replay of, MGS3 and for my sins, Driver 76 (I actually really enjoyed it!) I also have some PS1 games but assume these will be easy to replay once I've some the jailbreak (an FF7 replay for the 10th time might be on the cards but it takes soooo long!)

I'm thinking of replaying and then jailbreak, unless doing so will not affect those downloads. I'm a bit of a rookie but feel there is nothing much to lose!

Anyway, looking forward to getting back into the Vita and utilising this community so thanks in advance for all the posts that I will inevitably use!

PS2 Ports

Hey guys. There are a decent number of PS2 ports on the Vita, like the Sly games, R&C games, MGS2+3, etc. So how come we don’t get many fan-made PS2 ports on the Vita?

Is it just that difficult to recomp (is that the right term?) PS2 era games, or is it technically impossible for some reason. What are the roadblocks?

I know nothing about developing software for the Vita or development in general, so I’m sorry for the stupid question.

I hope you enjoy a beautiful game on a fantastic platform as Ps Vita.

Cheers!

*AI has been used with meticulousness attention! Tested several (and endless) time in the gameplay and controllers.

As engineer, I dedicated hours in the process (yes.. using AI) but a very meticulous process has been carried out for delivering something playable. However, crashes might happen. And I highly appreciate people feedback to improve the product - my process - and Vita community that I just discovered.

BrewStation: new homebrew store for the PS Vita, PSP & PS3

BrewStation is a homebrew store, similar to VitaDB, but has support for the PS Vita, PSP & PS3. We have merged with Homebrew Avenue a few weeks ago and we are making some progress! Right now, I've set up a new site containing homebrews, and you can submit your own homebrews here. There will soon be a client too and you can also make your own store based on BrewStation, since the goal of the project is to make it decentralized, and the client will also support other stores than the BrewStation store. There will also be support for plugins soon. And VitaHomebrewDB (formerly VitaDB-too) will be integrated into BrewStation too.

We also have a discord server, if you want to see discussions and/or give suggestions: https://discord.gg/cAVM5wCyyg

Enforcement of the filtering of the 1 August toxic comments

We have first warned here that we would moderate this sub against comments about the 1 August events Going forward with r/vitahacks and new rules : r/vitahacks

I've allowed on a special occasion a thread yesterday for everyone to empty their bag directly to the concerned person. While not breaking rule 4.

On the VitaDB revival post it seems that many didn't understand what "enforcing" means, and we removed many comments and 1 month banned 7 users to allow them to cool down their heads.

I will reiterate as a final warning. You can always comment that you dislike the dev, won't use his tools and name alternatives. And other comments that does not break rule 4. But if you come here just to fuel the drama again, there will be consequences.

From now on, if we have to remove your comment, we will ban you for 1 month. We have been quiet lenient allowing as much as possible people to express their anger because the sub isn't a totalitarian regime protecting the dev, but this isn't r/vitadrama.

If you cannot contain the urge of making toxic/political comments, there are many other vita subreddit to do that. Do not ruin the subreddit experience of other users for your vendetta.

Flutter + PS Vita = PoC is alive

In this video you can see that Flutter Example project has been successfully run on PS Vita. Its insane that 14 years old device has only 388 MB of free RAM and old ARM processor can run such powerful tools as Flutter. There are no words to describe how exited I am.

THE GOAL - To add opportunity for Flutter Developers share their apps to PS Vita with minimum obstacles or in other words - To Add support PS Vita to Flutter.

Done:
+ Dart AOT code runtime (async, threads, timers ...)
+ Flutter Engine (event handling, fonts, assets ...)

Whats next:
- Add missing support of Flutter API (cameras, buttons, rear touch screen and more)
- Build Toolchain for Flutter Apps
- Publish some existed app/game in VitaDB (or Neo VitaDB) as a showcase app. (Tell me please which app should I start first to port to PS Vita in comments below ⬇️ )
- Share working toolchain to GitHub
- Article, YouTube video about process to achieving this goal :D
- mm what else? 🤔

My side of the story related to the recent events

First thing first, I want to thanks the moderators for allowing this posts to even exist since the new subreddit rules would prevent it to be opened starting with.

So, I'm making this post mostly cause I got asked to make it from a few people nearby me rather than because I genuinely think people would start at least consider my side of the story. I expect this whole post to get downvoted to hell and be used as a vector to reiterate all the hateful comments I received in the last week, but maybe I'll be postively proven wrong, we'll see.

I spent the last 10 years working on Vita stuffs without ever asking anything in return, so I hope that you can spend at least 10 minutes of your time reading what I have to say. After that, you're free to keep insulting me if you wish.

A lot of people already know what's the fuss of the whole situation but if you don't, let me summary it in short (I'm sure if you want to get deeper in the situation there are plenty of other posts you can look at): Recently several posts I made on my personal Discord server (which now is private but used to be public at the time the incident occurred) got mass reported and I received several sanctions (most of them reverted after appealing) that caused my account to be unable to even write messages for several days (around 5 days). The account in question was also used for work (cause I'm stupid... should've definitely used a brand new account for work related stuffs but it is what it is) causing me also issues to interact with co-workers during these days for obvious reasons. The messages that got reported (at least a part) were rightfully sanctioned cause I definitely went overboard with words and I totally agree that the sanction received was fair, but some others were palesely made in bad faith just to get my account potentially terminated and the whole server shutted down (I received reports even for a message just saying "true" for instance). The messages in question that got screenshoted and posted in this subreddit and on VitaPiracy subreddit were extrapolated from way longer conversations with other users related to some media news covering violent crimes perpetrated in recent years in Europe (for some screenshots) and the recent Ceuta events in which the Spanish border got assaulted in a single moment by over 60.000 moroccan individuals (for another one).

I've made a full statement where I explained my side of things and I apologized for when I generalized/went overboard with words on Twitter that can be found here (I changed the . with , in the link cause reddit is quite angry with twitter links these days): https://x,com/Rinnegatamante/status/2083880189809823800

You can check the statement and the chain of comments that generated from that post on Twitter, and you can also check the subsequent posts I made were I also tried to explain more my side of the story to people that genuinely criticized my words while still keeping the tones civil. I also furtherly apologized in that chain of posts for having generalized some statement where I absolutely shouldn't have.

A lot of people on reddit are still using harsh words in my regards which make me believe that they never had the chance to at least read my side of things, so I'm making this posts mostly for this exact reason, so that you can form their own opinion.

A lot of people will say that I'm making these statements just to cover up and that they're not genuine cause I'm making them after I got exposed, which is a fair way of thinking, but the point is that no one ever tried to reach me out and criticize my word BEFORE mass reporting and sharing screenshots on reddit, so it's not like I can address something before someone raises it as a problem... I guess for this one you have to believe what I say, but people that were in my Discord server for years or developers that worked in strict contact with me for years do know that those statements I made aren't even remotely what I trully believe and when I apologized for having went overboard they were sincere statements.

A lot of people also started raising up other side accusations: saying that all I did for the Vita was for money of my Patreon. Well, I have a full time job which in a single month salary gives me more money than the lifetime earnings I got from Patreon since I started it. It's ridicolous to think that my Patreon and the "fear of it becoming smaller cause of AI" made me crash out. The Patreon money I received in these years had always been used for 90% in covering webhost and domain costs of VitaDB, acquiring hw for working on more contents for the scene (namingly a devkit that I own) and for covering keys and licenses to port new stuffs (for example when i ported RTCW, i actually used Patreon money to buy the game on Steam).

Some people also said that the whole accusation to vibecoders mass reporting me was just a charade to divert from the political messages: well, the vast majority of the screenshots that got posted recently are from conversations that are 4 months old. If the reports were genuinely made for the political messages and that only, I would've got reported and sanctioned 4 months ago, not exactly right after I make a public statement where I say that VitaDB was going to take harsher countermeasures to reduce the advertisement and recognition that vibecoders would've got on the platform. Does it mean that I have tangible indisputable evidences that vibecoders were behind the mass reports? Of coruse not, but I don't believe in cohincidences.

Also for what is worth about VitaDB and its centralized approach: VitaDB was never meant to be centralized starting with. Probably a lot of people here weren't already following the scene when VitaDB started but VitaDB originally was not only opensource (you can find an archive of the last opensource version here: https://github.com/Rinnegatamante/VitaDB ) but the whole content database was public. Originally VitaDB used the Bintray OSS program that allowed opensource projects to receive unlimited storage and 10 TB of bandwidth per month for the used storage. I had to shift to a centralized closed source approach due to the attacks I kept receiving from CBPS. First the bintray storage had to go cause those gentlemen started DDoSing the bintray links. In 30 hours from the Bintray monthly bandwidth reset they managed to consume 30TB of bandwidth making the whole website literally unoperative. From that I moved to a personal webhost to prevent any disruption of services due to targeted attacks. After few months also the opensource aspect had to go cause the sourcecode uploaded on GitHub was getting used to find new vectors for malicious attacks to the website. And that lead to what VitaDB is even nowadays: a full centralized closed source database.

So to conclude, long story short:

I renew my apologizes for everytime I went overboard or generalized like a stupid dumb in those conversations that got screenshoted. My Twitter statement covers what my political stance related to migration is but in short is: I make a distinction between migrants that comes to start a new life and work hard everyday to build up to it and the ones that comes whose only project is to commit heinous (often violent) crimes. The second ones are the ones I want out of my country.

If you want to keep hating me, go for it. I don't pretend to be liked by everyone, since that's impossible. If you have any questions related to VitaDB, any statement you've seen in those screenshots that you want to know more cause it sounds awful, Vita Nuova server, etc, leave a comment and I'll reply to as many as possible, as far as the conversation is kept civil. If you have to just scream the usual words we've all seen repeated non stop for the last week, i'll just ghost your comments cause it's pointless for me to even try to address these.

EDIT: It already spiraled down to what I said it would've happened at the start of this post. Thanks again to the moderators for at least making this post exist. I'll be unsubscribing from the post since it's pointless to keep replying to hateful posts just to get downvoted on any comment from the cancel mobbing machine.

VitaTube - Project direction update

It was only a matter of time before the unauthenticated requests used by VitaTube stopped being reliable. Unfortunately, that point has now arrived.

I investigated whether VitaTube could keep supporting YouTube by running the required client-side challenge directly on the PS Vita. We experimented with a lightweight browser-compatible environment, including JavaScript execution and the browser components needed by the challenge, but we were unable to produce a reliable solution on the console.

Continuing to chase private provider internals, remote challenge-solving services, or other fragile workarounds is outside the scope of this project. I do not want VitaTube to depend on undocumented systems that can change at any moment.

With some regret, I have therefore decided to change VitaTube’s direction. It will become a polished local video and music player for the PS Vita.

The hardware-accelerated playback pipeline will remain. In particular, 720p at 60 fps—one of the project’s main technical achievements and core features—will continue to be supported.

The new direction currently includes:
- Local video and music playback.
- Hardware-accelerated H.264 decoding.
- Continued 720p60 support.
- Authenticated streaming from personal servers through SFTP, WebDAV and SMB.
- A reusable version of the hardware playback pipeline, with a documented stream interface and integration example.

SFTP, WebDAV and SMB support currently works in theory and compiles, but it still needs extensive testing on real PS Vita hardware and different server configurations before its feasibility and reliability can be confirmed.

Future video-provider integrations are still possible, but only where a service offers a suitable public API and permits this kind of streaming client. Any future integration will be implemented according to that provider’s documented API, authorization requirements and platform policies.

This is not the outcome I originally hoped for, but the work behind VitaTube—especially its hardware-accelerated 720p60 player—will not be abandoned.

It will instead become the foundation of a more independent, stable and sustainable media player for the PS Vita.

Thank you to everyone who tested VitaTube, reported issues and supported the first release.

[Oficial Release] Port - Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus v1.0 (by MeninoSung)

Hey everyone,

https://preview.redd.it/lrmp0y1o3uih1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=502cce8aa86af61dc362d05101a74837c58df5fc

A few days ago, my friend Sung ported (vibecoded) Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus, so we had the game in internal testing. Recently, MeninoSung made a more polished version available for testing; we played and tested it, though some issues, the ones listed in the repository, persisted.

Anyway, since some people were decided to release this test version to the public. (not cool, guys). Since that happened, Sung and I decided to release v1.0, paying attention to LiveArea features.

Enjoy, and have a good game!
