Last year my grandfather passed away, and knowing I was interested in watches, my dad passed his old poljot watch down to me to restore. I got it serviced and, apart from the small crack in the crystal, it's looking good as new. Incredibly thin, easy to dress up, and very sentimental, it's quickly become my favourite watch.

What do you guys think? Does a steel bracelet suit it?

I feel like the 120 shape and bezel looks more toned down / friendly to the non-watch enthusiasts than the classic 420, what are your thoughts?

I purchased this Komandirskie on Ebay from a seller in Ukraine. It works and is in great condition, and I love wearing it already. I can't claim to be an expert on Vostoks by any means, so I figured I'd see what light this community could shine on it with regards to dating, originality, message translation, or anything else noteworthy.

It was listed as being from between 1980-1989, though from what I've seen the style of the numbers may point to the 1970s. It does have the CCCP marking at 6. There is also a personalized inscription on the back, which seems to be made out to/in memory of someone named "Andrei," with the message/memorial dated to either Sept 15th of 1979 or 1989. It's a bit hard to tell.

From what I've been able to tell the dial is a rarer variant for the Submarine Commander, as it has a green face (faded to silver on the top half) rather than the typical blue. The color doesn't really shine through well in these photos.

Would love to hear any insights people might have on this. I love the look and feel of it, and hope to preserve it for as long as I preserve myself.

I bought two of these and sold one to cover the costs of both years ago!! Wish I would’ve saved the packaging…

Changed the green nato strap with a black sailcloth from StrapsCo

Used a Vostok amphibia 720073 as a base. Bought a komandirskie (306) dial, ceramic (LU-INS-27) bezel and (PAAR90) Handset paired with the (SEK90) seconds hand. And a non Vostok on the fly adjustable clasp.

Ordered a 6Э4-2 from Russia, got something (imo) way cooler. Seems to be an unissued 6Э4-1 from 2015 with all its accessories intact. Definitely not mad about the turnout!

Hello everyone. I bought a Vostok watch back in 2019 when I learned about the brand and the little hidden gem that it is. While I initially set out to get a scuba dude, my choice led elsewhere and I ended up with the watch in the photos. I’m a bit tired of the look and I keep thinking back to a scuba dude. So option one is to try and sell this which I doubt I have many takes for where I am (and for not a lot of money) or option two is to mod this and get a scuba dude look.

The latter sounds a bit more fun to me and I’d like to try this. I’ve been looking for a scuba dude dial, but haven’t seen a decent one in my searches. Looking for options from the group here. Goal is to get a scuba dude dial while upgrading the lume of the dial and the hands. While I have the watch apart, would also look to replace the bezel with something more fitting of a scuba dude, hands with better lume, and the crystal as it is scratched. Might also consider replacing the back with a scuba dude one, but it’s the back, so might just leave it as is.

Seeing as there are so many who mod here, where do you source parts, how difficult is it to disassemble and reassemble, and do I need special tools for this? This is likely a one and done procedure, so not looking to invest much if any into tools if I can avoid it. But if I need one or two things, I’d be okay. I am in Canada, just outside Toronto if it matters.
