How do you find new routes when you want to try somewhere different?

Curious how people here actually do this. Do you use an app, ask someone, just explore and hope for the best?

Specifically wondering: what information do you wish you had before heading somewhere new - safety of the area, elevation, traffic, continuous paths without stoplights?

Changes to Wandrer in The Netherlands

In an email exchange with Craig Durkin, he asked me to make a case for a change I want to propose, specifically for the Netherlands. Cemeteries (landuse = cemetery) I think should be excluded as I feel culturally, you don’t explore those areas like you might in other countries. They have gates and opening and closing times, which add to the point, but mainly it is the culture. What do you guys think about this?

504 km of new roads in an area on the first of the month?

Like how does that happen? That's an average of 36 kmh for 14 hours (given that we're about 14 hours into the month).

Either someone is driving or there's some feature I'm unaware of. But it's going to make winning Wyoming impossible for a second straight month for me. (But I shouldn't complain too hard. I win the hard months in the winter.)

No new achievements earned during this activity.??

what does this mean...these were done a few days ago and Ive had emails to say "Congrats, you have new achievements" and that email stated I had gained 132.6 km (which is a little odd as the whole 137km ride was new) but it did have those details emailed to me (same for ride the enxt day too) but they dont show any details at all on the web ui

Am I missing something silly here...I tried the reprocess option as well, but nothing has changed

Thanks in advance

Auditing the leaderboard and individual's recent activities

Hello!

For those connected through strava and also private on strava, how can we "audit" / see their recent activity? Some people are jumping 20-40 miles a day everyday split between states that aren't close to each other. While this is definitely possible, I am curious how exactly they manage to do it.

Possible solution for people who get 100% but want to keep playing

I know there has been discussion over the years about what to do with the people who get 100% in an area. Some has wanted to do something, even resorting to wanting to reset their account to start over. I've been thinking on this idea for a while, but just haven't had the energy to sit down and write it out. Maybe this idea has already been suggested, and if so, then I'm sorry I didn't see it.

This is based off my gaming days back when I used to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Black Ops 1 and 2. If you are not familiar with the leveling up system in those games, I will give a quick explanation. If you are familiar with this, skip down to the next paragraph. I have not played any Call of Duty games in about 10 years, so the current system they use may be different, so please feel free to make suggestions if a newer system would fit Wandrer better. So the way the game worked, is that you had levels from 1 to 50. As you progressed through each level, you would unlock some sort of perk, gun, etc. When you reached level 50, you had unlocked everything you could and were basically at 100%. After you reached the max level, you had the option to "Prestige". This would basically start you over back at level 1. You lost all progress with guns, camo, perks, etc. and started completely from scratch. However, when you "Prestige" you would have a new icon instead of the regular rank icon. The "Prestige" icon would let everyone know that you had started over. So while you might play against a player who was at a level 21, if they had the "prestige" icon next to their name, it showed that they had actually already completed to level 50 and started over. So it shows that someone might have been a lower "rank" in the progression system, they were actually a veteran player who had already completed everything once before. Now the game did allow you to "prestige" multiple times.

So my suggestion is that we could have some sort of "prestige" system and icon for people who want to reset a specific area. Obviously details would need to be ironed out, and I don't have ideas for everything. It can be set so you can only "prestige" once. You can "prestige" a specific area (the minimum size of the area can be up for debate: smallest are possible, smallest area that shows on Leaderboards, etc). Not sure what this would look like for points. Maybe you can earn points all over again and this just adds to the previous points you already earned for that area. This can help satisfy the people who got a majority of their miles when no one else was using Wandrer in their area so didn't get much bonus points for getting 1st for that month. Now they have another chance to earn 1st for the month and reap the benefits of more bonus points for more people using Wandrer in their area.

For milage, I'd say that the original miles gained, stay on that person who has them. For example, say I prestige an area for 50 miles. Then when I redo the area, I cannot gain an extra 50 miles for doing that area again. And my total milage on my account kept the original 50 miles. We could reset the miles entirely, so they no longer show up on my total miles for that state, country, etc. but then I think there should be some extra statistic that shows total new miles gained which includes the original 50 miles and the new miles I am obtaining in that area.

I know there are some holes in this idea, but think it could be a good starting point. I am definitely open to critique and suggestions to this idea.

Knew I shouldn't have updated the map this month...

100 points is insignificant to me at this stage of my adventures but it's always a chuckle to see these emails
