So wet specimens, how should I go about it?

So recently I found this chipmunk,
And had the intention of burying it then maceration
To preserve the bones. But looking at her little face made me change my mind so it’s frozen currently. I only have experience with dealing bones of animals have been buried and decomposed.
, so…

Steps: what do I do
Materials: what do I need and where can I get them
Formalin: people say this is the only correct option but everyone else says how dangerous it is are there other options?

How would I preserve a slug egg from a snake?

Hi all! I have a slug partho egg from a class snake, and I was wondering how I could preserve it! I was assuming alcohol or formalin and having to inject it with something to keep it from rotting but would like some extra insight! Any help appreciated:)

Advice for wet pet preservation (Newbie)

I had a pet snake die recently, unfortunately by the time I noticed it was bloated (I didn’t have a/c till today as the weather has been cool until today) and then when I tried picking it up… the liquid and the bloating came out. I double Ziploc bagged it tried to squeeze out most of the air out of the bag without squeezing her put it in the freezer. It’s about 8 PM where I’m at so a lot of taxidermy places are closed, but I’m not sure if they do wet specimens looks like they mostly just do like dry(?) taxidermy. Should I try and save it through mummification or would wet specimen be an option still? I’ve never owned a wet specimen, nor do I have any knowledge on it. All advice are welcome.

How can I make this more aesthetically pleasing.

Hi, I am fairly new to wet specimens and don’t know anyone who doesn’t think it is weird to some degree. So I was hoping I could get help decorating this shelf. I love the scientific/animal science aspect of animal wet specimens. So if possible I would appreciate suggestions along those lines. Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Preserving fetal pig heart and kidney

Today, I dissected a fetal pig and brought home the heart and kidney. The fetal pig had been professionally prepared by a lab that sold specimens for dissection and had some sort of solution keeping it fresh.

I'm keeping the organs in the freezer right now. I ordered a solution of 37% formaldehyde with 15% methanol but it doesn't get here for a while. Is the freezer the best choice until then? Also, what concentration should I dilute the solution to?

Preserving dog testicle (newbie)

Hey all,
My dog's getting neutered and I'm allowed to take home his testicles, yay lol. However, I'll be receiving it in a saline solution. I've researched on this subreddit (albeit not extensively) to know what to do if they provide it in formaldehyde, formalin, or even isopropyl alcohol, but I'm unsure of what to do when it's given in a saline solution. I have 70% alcohol and ethanol laying around at home, so I'm wondering if there's a way to utilize those without having to purchase a big thing of formaldehyde or formalin through the internet. This is a hobby/diy project for me but I do want to preserve it for as long as I can.

Thanks so much in advance!

Baby Bird

Hi guys, new here and looking for advice. I've literally just come in the door from work and found a tiny baby bird on the front step. It seems pretty fresh from the egg but has wounds on it's head and belly (hence the NSFW)
I'm wondering if it can still be preserved? I'd love to keep it as is, poor thing. I've also never tried making a wet specimen before, I usually play around with skulls/bones 😂
Thanks!

umbilical cord wet specimen

i’m currently 34 weeks pregnant and decided that i want to cut the umbilical cord off my placenta and make it into a wet specimen in this pretty whiskey bottle my dad gave me. i have a question though. i was wondering if i would have to use formalin injections and soaking to fix and preserve it or if alcohol would be enough? i’m sorry if this comes off as uneducated but i’ve tried doing research on this and i feel like nobody has done it. my worry with the formalin is idk how it will affect the gelatinous tissue. thank you in advance
