I’m not entirely sure if this is the right place for this, but I think it counts as a yumeship (OC x Canon).

Today, I had a college entrance exam, and for the creative writing portion, the prompt was to write about a 'difficult situation' experienced by myself or someone else. Since it could be completely fictional, I went for it!

I ended up writing two A4 pages about a boy living on a farm in Nebraska who is deeply emotionally attached to his animals, specifically his newborn piglets. The difficult situation ? He was forced to auction them off.

Now, I’ve been thinking about it all day.. damn it was such a good story! I’ve decided to turn this boy into an OC.

He was loosely based on my headcanons for Dennis Whitaker from The Pitt, and now I’ve accidentally spiraled into this whole narrative where they grow up on neighboring farms. Both of them are struggling with the pressure of religious, homophobic families, which makes it impossible for them to come out.

Naturally, I’ve started shipping them. My OC is named Hudson (I’m still looking for a good last name, lmk if you have suggestions!)

their ship name is 'Hucklehud' (or hudberry i haven’t decided, if u have any other suggestions also lmk!) since, if you aren't familiar with The Pitt**,** Dennis’ nickname is Huckleberry. I just really wanted to share this because I’ve become weirdly invested in this random, tragic story I wrote in 30 minutes in an english exam.

but like do you get to a certain point in ur relationship when you decide like “yeah now we are engaged” orrr.. is it a thing liek established from the beginning like u start out as married / engaged.. DOES THIS MAKE SENSE IDK.

like if you get to the 1 year mark for example, then you’re like “yeah we’re engaged / married now” ..

very soon it’s my f/o , pope’s , birthday ! (the 27th) i already commissioned some birthday themed art and was thinking of making a few birthday edits and watching the show he’s from! but does anyone else have other suggestions? i unfortunately cant make a cake (i’m too scared to nervous to explain why i wanna make a cake randomly) soo is there anything anyone else does on their f/o’s birthday if they celebrate?^_^

my sona is 16, iam also 16. my f/o’s are (mostly) older. one being 39 in season 1, one being 23, one being 22. the reason i dont age up my sona is because my sona is simply for visual purposes (art, edits etc) it is just me, but looks different so i don’t have to send my face to people i commission.

aging up my sona makes me uncomfortable because it starts feeling less like me and that i’m just doing oc x canon, instead of actually being in a relationship with my f/o. i do not condone the age gap irl, i dont participate in it and i dont read or engage in fiction (other than my yumeship) that has this dynamic.

why is this such a big issue for people? iam a real person, my f/o is fictional, i can consent to the dynamic because, again, i’m a real person. if i was uncomfortable with the dynamic i wouldn’t do it, or just age up my sona. it’s not been a big deal for me, nor did i realise it was a big thing in the community until ive seen people complain about it. it’s not like my sona is purposefully younger than iam or younger than my f/o. i can’t change my age.

i also don’t even mention it to anyone unless they ask. my sona looks older than he is, he has top surgery which to most they’d assume he’s over 18 but i didn’t think abt age logic beforehand. if they are uncomfortable i understand but that’s not really my problem they can just not interact, its on them.

i’m struggling to understand the issue about it though. could someone help me out and tell me why people see it as an issue? TYIA!!
