How common is it for autistic people to be able to override their emotions and think more calmly?

Whenever I feel like my emotions are overwhelmed, I instinctively damper them so I'm able to think more clearly. Most NTs can't do that so they go the DARVO route whenever their feelings are dismissed.

I'm curious to see if other autists are able to override their emotions too.
