India is going through the biggest *STUDENT LED* protests since her Independence. Students are fighting against the present dispensation for its lack of accountability and transparency.

The recent continuing leaks in examinations have fractured the education system. The latest medical exam leak led to the suicides of 20 students.

The Gen-Z is protesting against these issues in a peaceful and non-violent fashion, demanding the resignation of the Education Minister.

The police responded to the march on 20 July with absolute brutality, batons with nails, tear gases, shock batons and what not, and yet the movement continues.

The uniqueness of this movement lies in it uniting young Indians, across religious, class, caste, social backgrounds. Most importantly, the women and young girls are an inseparable part of it.

when rapey jokes are made against women, even if they are on a *ROAST* show, the repercussions are immense, as is seen v clearly in this case.

Men do not have to think twice before making sex jokes nor does it matter if they are at the receiving end of them (case in point Madhur Virli and his continued relevance despite hundreds of insinuations about his paedophilic choice in girls).

But when such jokes are made about a woman, they follow her to death. For incels, sex is something that happens to a woman, rather than her being actively involved in the process. So a woman taking charge of her own sexual narrative would automatically give you the right to call her a R**.

The leaching of customers and the insane PR of her company aside, what’s happening to Kusha here is absolutely heartbreaking. To see your life reduced to a comment made by someone else, overlooking literally everything else that you do, trying to move past a traumatic incident and then having to face a manufactured campaign regurgitating all of the shit, again and again and again is a NIGHTMARE I wouldn’t wish on any woman.

I understand that you can’t expect influencers to be the ones spearheading change, but with the state of the world in absolute decay, and global democratic backsliding, it boils my blood to see such emotional idiocy over what? a billionaire getting married?

Why can’t, for once, these people make a good use of their platform and advocate for something substantial that actually matters and affects lives of commoners?
