Highlights from todays WAFCON matches: goals for Barbra Banda, Prisca Chilufya, and Gift Monday!

I'm so happy for all of these goals, but so upset that despite all of these goals, Zambia will not be moving on and will not be in the world cup. Group of death man..... Banda, Chilufya, and Kundananji deserve so badly to be on the world stage with Zambia! Tearing up at my desk at work currently 😭

Final match of the season to be held at Dignity Health Sports Park in November 1st

I actually noticed the other week that LAFC also has a game around the same time at BMO on November 1st and that our schedule said TBA… surprised no one caught this earlier or maybe I missed it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Can someone please help me figure out what overcast stitch I accidentally did?

Hello fellow sewers! I’ve been testing out some overcast stitches on some bandanas I am making an outfit out of as shown in the photos above.

#1 is an overcast stitch number 6 on my Brother CE4400 machine. I didn’t like how it was pulling the threads in the innermost line in the fabric so I decided to just try a normal zig-zag stitch…this is where the mystery deepens.

I could have sworn at the time I did #2 last week I set my machine to stitch number 4 for zig-zag. I should have known something was off because as I was sewing it wasn’t coming out like a zig-zag (like #3 I did yesterday), but I didn’t question it because it was coming out perfectly.

Now yesterday I sewed #3 which is the real zig-zag and it pulls the edges of the fabric so terribly, but I can’t figure out what I accidentally set my machine to to achieve #2.

You can see on the back that #2 comes out somewhat zig-zag like. I tested so many different stitches on my machine yesterday and I couldn’t replicate what I did.

Could anyone taking a look at this figure it out?? I’m going crazy!

Full video and transcript from Parsons regarding ACFC letting Straus go

"The Dangerous thing is when there is change. There's a big hole where information is missing and the opportunity to come and share a talk. You may like, you may not like, you may agreement, you may disagree, but the one thing I want to make really clear on, our leadership team is focused on putting this team first and keeping the players in the center of everything that we're doing.

And what that means is this is a roster and a team that could be in the playoffs. This is a roster of a team that can absolutely cause some big problems this year. And while while I wish I wasn't touching on this subject, I think it's important to kind of take it head on and give you as much clarity as we can right now, but also, most importantly, talk about who is in charge of this team right now on the field, how does the structure work off the field, and how do you welcome a player like Ally Sentnor into this really exciting, dynamic team that is ready to come flying out of the break.

First off topic, of course, I'm sorry that we had two bits of bad news this week. Alex moving on. It's an incredibly difficult decision to be able to have to come to. We've been really clear over the last 12 months when we made the hire that this is a team heading in the direction to be able to make layoffs, be able to compete, continue to put our players in place of development and improving our players.

The first four games of our season I thought we looked like Angel City. We were attacking in the opponent's half, we were pressing and winning the ball back, we were scoring goals and not conceding goals. It's been tough since. We review. We reflect. We have to be brave in half moments to make sure that we put our players and their future, most importantly, our fans and their team's future right in the center.

After 12 months, we were absolutely convinced this was the time to make a change, but also that we've got 19 games to go this year and the players that have arrived and joined. The potential of these players. We've also having a new special player join that could not delay what we felt was right in making a big step forward.

Tonight, I know, I've been through some of this stuff before, the last 14 years of NWSL. That's hard, we feel that, you feel that, our players feel that, and then the hardest thing over the last few weeks is when you know something is right, do you not do the right thing and be safe and protect yourself for a screaming group of people for a few days, or are we brave and go out and about, where they deserve to be first on our minds.

We are extremely grateful for Alex. The energy in the world. He's going to go on and do good things. He's done a great job in introducing our young players to to a new environment and a new take on a new club over the last 12 months. At the same time, we're very we're very ready and looking forward to coming out of this break, flying against Orlando Pride.

Excited at these first six games, are not just opponents that we feel we have a great opportunity against, because of the training times we have to put the work in. And I think I heard someone ask, who's coaching, Leif, who's been with our club for two months, Is the interim head coach to start the process for a permanent head coach immediately.

Leif’s impact, in the last 3 or 4 days has pushed our training environment, our preparation, our dedication to our DNA of the way that Angel city wants to play football to another level. The players have felt it, the staff have felt it, and you’ll feel that today there was a commitment and an energy to make sure we come out and with the performances and the results that everyone could be, can be proud of."

Season Ticket Member Event Coaching Panel (recap space)

After the events of this week and the STM coming up this afternoon, a lot of people who aren’t able to attend have been asking those of us who are able to attend to keep them posted on what is said at the coaching panel today.

Figured I’d create this space for anyone who wants to chime in about what is said, or just talk about the event in general. I’ll do my best to take notes and provide any updates.

Ironically the above photo of Straus and Parsons from last year’s panel was included in the LAST REMINDER email that the club sent out on Tuesday… which was the day before Straus’s exit was announced 🤔

Update 1: Thought it was really weird they sent out no info with event parking and information, but according to my friend they did send out this email yesterday. Checked all of my inboxes, including spam, and despite having RSVPed and having tickets in my ACFC app, I did not get this email. Did this happen to anyone else?

Update 2: Event seems super low attended compared to previous years. I still don’t know how other people know about the schedule for today’s happenings. Seems like some supporter group people know. One of the ACFC videographers told me that they were bringing Ally Sentnor out to the panel stage at 3pm to interview her before player signatures at 3:30pm. However it’s now 3:18pm and she still hasn’t come out. I do not believe this is the coaching panel yet!

Update 3: The videographer led me astray! Parsons did come out to be interviews by Sibley, thank you to those below live-sharing what’s happening! I took a video of Parsons answer about Straus, so maybe I’ll just post that in full in another post!

Final update for the evening: I tried taking notes, but it was hot in the greenhouses they had us waiting in and honestly I could barely hear anything.

I want to shoutout u/nowhereaddie for live posting as the "panel" happened! They pretty much covered everything I had in my notes anyways.

I decided it would be better to just film Parson's answer to the main question we were all wondering about: the firing of Alex Straus. That way everyone who wasn't there could just hear for themselves. You can find that video here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AngelCityFC/comments/1ubemfn/full_video_and_transcript_from_parsons_regarding/

After he briefly touched on Kennedy Fuller leaving, I couldn't really hear or understand anything he was saying because no one in the room seemed to really care and everyone was just chatting amongst themselves. I touched on this in a comment, but it was a rather awkward setup, it was HOT af in those warehouses and we had already been standing in a line for a long time just waiting since they told us the panel was starting at 3pm and then didn't start til like 3:25? Very different than last year at the aquarium where it was indoors and air-conditioned and the panel was in a theater style room with seating for everyone to stay quiet and listen.

Thanks everyone else for sharing their impressions too! Until next time...

Ally Sentor Officially Announced

Well I know this was already leaked and posted to the sub Wednesday, but it was officially announced by the club this morning.

I’m surprised no one has posted it yet, too early here on the west coast and it’s a holiday weekend maybe?

I have to imagine it’s the last signing now for a while, so I guess we better enjoy it while we can. Prior to this week I was excited for some exciting summer and international signings to be announced (maybe just a pipe dream?), but I can’t imagine anyone is going to want to sign with us now with ACFC as a franchise being in such disarray and having no coach or plan at all 🫠

JP Dellacamera and Lori Lindsey currently commentating the Ecuador vs Ivory Coast Game at the FWC

Don‘t know if they actually showed them, but I heard my husband yell from the other room “NWSL!”

Comforting to hear their voices during this long break. Feels like home 🥹

Sveindis not joining Icelandic National Team this break

I haven’t seen this posted anywhere yet, but just came across this soccerdonna post from yesterday and Sveindis is listed as one of the players whose call-up was withdrawn due to injury.

I don’t know about y’all, but I thought it was a good sign regarding her foot injury that she was still called into the national team, but now…

Ugh I’m worried 😥

Rajanah Reed’s Short Term Contract Comes to an End

I feel bad that she never even played any minutes, but she was only ever supposed to be a short term contact. I have to imagine its because we have bigger signings coming this summer? Who are we speculating?
