Day 11

What a ride. Being sober has caused a lot of repressed emotions to come to the surface. So much so that yesterday I spoke to a therapist for the first time in my life. I’m sixty and have used cannabis, off and on, mostly on, since I was twelve. All I can say is that I wish I had done it, therapy, sooner. I’m feeling much better today, albeit exhausted. Excited to see what evolves out of this new chapter in life. Onward!

Day 7

I’m feeling very anxious, emotionally vulnerable and am experiencing insomnia. I’m going to stick with it, because I don’t want to go through this again. Hopefully my body’s chemistry will level out soon.

Day 3

I’m feeling more present but am being hit with some intense emotions. Anyone else experience this in the first few days?

Packing for the high country.

I’m heading up towards Vogelsang Lake early next week and am packing long underwear, a light Patagonia jacket, a fleece zip up, light pants, a beanie and a 30° down sleeping bag for the evening chill. Is that overkill? Can I dispense with one of the jackets?

Lyell Canyon Loop

I have a Lyell Canyon permit reserved next week for myself and my two teenage sons. We’re planning on taking 3-4 nights. Any suggestions as to the best route, clockwise or counter clockwise, and/or best places to camp?

Backpacking loops in Kings Canyon.

My 14 y/o son and I are going to Kings Canyon next week. We are looking for a good backpacking loop, 2-3 nights. We have a permit starting at Timber Gap. Any information on best routes to take would be appreciated.
