Considering switch to road biking

6am, early morning ride. Great start to the day. Convince myself I don’t need a headlamp, sun will be coming up. First 500 feet of trail, inhale a big juicy spider. Manage to spit it out pretty quick (must’ve been fun to hear for the guy walking the paved path nearby). Luckily it was so discombobulated it didn’t manage to bite me in the mouth. Guess who also forgot to throw his water bottle in the cage? This guy.

Anywho, continued on because what are the odds of that happening twice? 😆 this would never happen if I was road biking… who else has consumed unwanted trail snacks in your travels?

Edit: to clarify, the road biking comment was really meant as a joke, not deterred from MTB morning/day/night. Had a funny experience and wanted to commiserate here

Confession

I’ve put 750 miles on my newer mountain bikes and just realized I can upshift by pushing the lever away from you with your thumb (and two gears at a time mind you on the deore XT), rather than pulling it towards you using your index finger. I feel like such an idiot.

That’s all. Wow.

Aldi Gringas

Best tacos I think we’ve ever made at home! Mostly Aldi ingredients. Shredded cheddar jack melted in pan on white corn tortillas. Ready made pork carnitas from Aldi, topped with cilantro, (frozen but thawed) pineapple, pickled onions (Costco but easy to DIY), and homemade cilantro/jalapeño green sauce. Squeeze of lime.

Yum.

Edit: I should give credit to Los Gauchos in Columbus OH for the inspiration of this recipe.

Night rides

Trails are wet so having fun on concrete for a bit. Recent storms brought this tree down yesterday.

Have had fun upgrading the 2019 Roscoe 7. New front shock, headset and rear hub (my first wheel rebuild), awesome ride now. Red accent contact points just for fun. Kids ride shotgun makes for great family adventures.

Tekton brakes the only thing left on the list (maybe I’ll try out some new pads first).

Happy riding!
