How do you deal with hot feet?

My feet run very hot, but in an effort to find a shoe that fits my needs, I picked up a pair of Norda 001a. I love everything about them when it comes to fit and feel covering the terrain I run in, but they feel like ovens for my feet. How do you mitigate heat in a shoe like this? Or do you just suck it up?

Looking for my Goldilocks shoe

For years now, I’ve been looking for a trail running shoe that is reasonably breathable and can tackle a Gannet Peak or Granite Peak day in good fashion: 40 ish miles total, 9k of vertical gain and everything from easy rolling miles to technical running to 5th class scrambling. Recently, the North Face Offtrail Ultra came out and I thought my dreams had come true. Literally everything I ever wanted, they had a medium stack midsole that could hang for miles and miles, 5mm lugs for proper technical running, a climbing zone in the toe for better grip on steeper scrambling, a super breathable upper, and even a sock gaiter. I instantly got a pair, but after a few weeks of testing with different insoles and even different shims I designed, they’re just too high volume for my low volume feet and I can’t get a good lockdown in them without hurting my feet because I have to tie them so tight. So that leads me here: does anyone have any recommendations for a shoe that fits what I’m looking for?

Has anyone used the Durston X-Mid 2 with Leki Ultratrail Fx One poles?

Looking at a Durston x mid but I use the Leki Ultratrail poles, which are not adjustable. I have 125cm poles which seem to be right in the sweet spot length, but curious if anyone else has tried this combo?

Has Anyone tried the North Face Offtrail Ultra yet?

I read that the TNF Offtrail Ultra was being released in August, but I've seen them available on Running Warehouse and a few other sites. Super attractive looking shoe that has pretty much every feature I've wanted in a big day mountain running shoe and nothing I don't want. Has anyone gotten their hands on them yet and given them a try?

ULPT Request: HOA keeps towing my vehicle out of the front of my house

My HOA has a rule that vehicles are not allowed to be parked outside between the hours of 11pm and 8am, and I've had my vehicles towed numerous times over the few years of ownership in this neighborhood. When purchasing the home, I was told I could park anywhere, and one of my vehicles was towed a mere 2 days after moving in while I was away on an international work trip. Starting this year, they hired a towing company to patrol our neighborhood and gave them carte blanche to tow any vehicles parked outside as many times as they want between 11pm and 8am. I move my vehicles to a public road nearly every night, but every few months, I forget and am hit with a $450+ tow. Every neighbor I've spoken to other than the HOA board members despises this policy, and some of us have vehicles we can't fit in our garages. I've asked the HOA countless times if there is any way we can start a parking pass system to ensure it's only residents, and I've even offered to pay hundreds of dollars per month in parking permit fees to be allowed to park outside my own house, but they always just say no. At this point, I'm stumped on what to do and am looking for some creative suggestions, which is why I'm here. Yes, I know the easy solution is to not forget, but I own a house in the community and pay HOA dues, and in return I get my cars towed.

If you had to pick between bringing a soft shell or hard shell on a Denali expedition, which would you pick?

I’m trying to shave down my gear as much as possible for an upcoming Denali expedition and am curious what people’s thoughts are on hard shell vs soft shell. I was firmly on team hard shell, because it will protect from rougher winds and precipitation, but a friend mentioned that anytime it’s really that cold and/or windy, you’d have your parka as your outer layer anyway which would negate the use of a hard shell or render it only useful on the lower mountain if it’s raining and not snowing. I always looked at a soft shell as more of a comfort item and a hard shell as a safety item, but that take on shells was interesting to me. Would love to hear thoughts from this community!

How long do your Showas usually last?

I’ve gone through 2 pairs in about a year, they both tore between the thumb and index finger, probably from a combination of rope work, using poles, and using ice tools. Curious how long most people are getting out of a pair
