PLEASE DONT MAKE ME PAY FOR 3 DIFFERENT COSTUMES

With the leak going around about nightcrawler releasing, this guy might be one of the last characters that could fit into dive. Before i get flamed , Im getting into the comics slowly. But Nightcrawler is such a true Brawl/Flank/Diving character.

I personally would like for him to be DPS, I don’t really care about the role distribution (not saying it’s NOT bad) but i don’t think it matters when you can’t even solo dive anymore, and fliers are food in most games, so it narrows down the DPS that you can play anyway. And before people call me a “Instalock” DPS player as if it’s some type of racial slur.. (tribalism am i right?) I play literally whatever role is needed. I’d just like Nightcrawler to stay true to his fantasy in 1v1ing opponents and getting out if needed. But what are you guys opinion ?

To the REAL cyclops mains in a subreddit filled with Vanguards, Strategist complaining that he isn’t balanced. We know he’s balanced right? Clearly griefing over him being a DPS but balanced. No way he isn’t.

Phoenix still has a CC ability that does more AOE damage when it explodes. Hela still 2 taps 250 and 3 taps 275. Namor 2 taps with spear and No aim squids.

Scott is free eats to Magik, Spider-man, Daredevil, Hulk, Rogue, Bucky, Fantastic, Panther, Squirrel girl, Star lord, Punisher, and only has practically 1 evasive option which is move back because the other is just a big jump that hulk loves to see you do.

Majority of players can’t aim so he isn’t crazy good but in the right hands you can hit the skill ceiling pretty quickly.

Nothing compared to prime elsa, blackcat, daredevil, phoenix or bucky, hela, hawkeye era. But again , I doubt he’ll be nerfed. It’s just griefers if i’m being honest.

Still wanna get Slipstream, Havok, Vulcan, Mr. Sinister, Forge, Angel, Sunspot, Bishop, Cable, Kitty Pryde and Morph… what’s wrong with adding them every other season??? 😅 It’s honestly a lot of fun choices

I’m excited for his kit to be revealed, and this is not a role discussion ( mods i’m looking at you ).

Things i do want to say though, if Cyclops isn’t what you expected don’t start the “I’m quitting” , “The games gonna die” etc etc... Game isn’t going to die because of 1 character, however I do hope they do some heavy balancing changes and possibly nerfing the correct characters.

I’m pretty sure I know what he’s gonna be, but if he isn’t, i’m not quitting because of it not being what i anticipated.

Marvel Games supervises and approves of what characters come out to be, net ease just develops it. So i’m sure they knew what they wanted for the character, so if he’s a strategist then so be it.

But if you’re gonna quit over him being a Duelist then just quit..
Him being a vanguard or Strategist wouldn’t fix the game despite if he fits them or not. I truly think balancing is the biggest problem and is whats gonna POSSIBLY determine if the majority quit, and even then i’d just wait for season 9, I don’t truly see myself quitting.

been seeing all the debate around this guy cyclops role and what he fits best. This man is the epitome of a duelist, like or not.

Was reading an article interviewing Danny Koo during launch and he said this

“A lot of online games tend to feature a Prime or powered-up version of a particular character. Would Marvel Rivals experiment with stuff like Ultimate Spider-Man? ”

Danny Koo: I know there are a bunch of opinions among friends that this Spider-Man or that Spider-Man is the best. There are so many opportunities for us to do stuff like a different costume or maybe introduce a different voice line. But we haven't announced all this detail in terms of costumes and variance yet. We want each main playable character to have a different playstyle.

What does this mean?
It’s PR talk, but he did not say no to character variants.

This interview was in 2024, and since then we’ve already seen Lady Loki as a Loki skin, so variants clearly aren’t off the table cosmetically.

The key line is:
“We want each main playable character to have a different playstyle.”

To me, that means variants can exist, but if they’re more than a skin, they probably need a real gameplay difference.

So something like Spider-Man 2099 could go either way. He could be a skin, or he could be a playable Spider-variant with a different kit entirely.

Personally, I’d want Miguel as a Vanguard/tank, but that’s just my preference.

Also, Miles Morales reportedly wouldn’t just be a Peter skin, he’d be his own character. So when I say “variants,” I’m thinking more like:

Iron Fist: Danny Rand = Lin Lie
Ghost Rider: Johnny Blaze = Robbie Reyes
Spider-Man: Peter Parker = Supreme Spiderman Or Symbiote Spiderman

Not guaranteed, but definitely not ruled out.

**Edit, For clarification, I’m assuming variants would be powered up versions of the character by skin and not individual characters like Miles
morales, so if they were selected they’d lock you out from playing the original.

Miguel SHOULD be his own character. If you’re actually a Spider-Man fan, you should WANT Miguel as a Vanguard than a Peter skin.

Dumbest statement of all time, and translates to “I don’t know anything about the character aside from into the spiderverse”.

They are confirmed miles and “GWEN” to both be their own characters back in December 2024, around the same time the discord launched i believe. Even if this wasn’t confirmed, This is an agenda we should be pushing. NOT a peter skin with voice lines.

Miguel isn’t Peter. He’s more brutal, more aggressive, physically overwhelming, and built around hunting people down.

A Vanguard Miguel would actually feel UNIQUE instead of just being ‘Spider-Man but edgier.’ Push for creativity, not another skin.

not sure if anyone seen his moves but He’s an amazing combo oriented character,

he can shoot a quick optic beam

he can charge optic blast that launches enemies

he can charge a forward optic blast that pushes enemies back which he can also do in the air

He has a dodge that attacks the ground and slides him around

He also has a slide that he uses Optic beam to displace him similar to the dodge

he has a dive kick

4 chain combo that starts and ends with a beam
he can constantly shoot with no cooldown

I think this was a well executed presentation of cyclops !

While YES, he won’t be like this because that’s a side scroll beat em up 2D game. HOWEVER, I think the combos on him are creative and fit his character being able to punch and shoot beam, but well executed.

I said the same thing about the DPS part, they definitely can keep adding more DPS every other season and it wouldn’t affect numbers in the slightest. IMO when we get up too 20 tanks, 20 strategist, even if we had 40 DPS ( still double the numbers of any other role) I don’t think it would matter, while i don’t think they should either, it doesn’t mean they can’t. I still like the direction they’re going with adding a duelist every other season, and i think season 9 they’ll skip and do a tank,strat— still like the fact we’re still getting other roles added in , along side DPS. I only say that because they don’t play the same and select few DPS are only liked by select few players, like black cat. She’s pure dive so a lot of panther mains like her but i don’t like pure dive and i don’t play it so i never play her and i’m sure a handful of people don’t. Super high skill ceiling with medium high skill floor, i’d just rather not. But again, every DPS suits different players with preferred playstyles just like every role does too.

Devil Dinosaur was an amazing addition to the game, and definitely the right step in the right direction. I don’t feel he’s too overtuned and hot take but i feel he’s balanced. Yes he is a huge walking target but he’s also a massive threat that just forces space. He’s Brawl with a Beam that bleeds and grounds fliers, Gains over shield on top of his large health pool and has a shield. Tanks still lack any real hitscan additions, but at the rate they’re going with the kit designs of character’s, We’re bound for them. That aside, This character brought something I haven’t seen before and a new bleed element to the game.

Overall, I like the direction Netease is going with the character development and should continue ! This definitely brought back 2,2,2 comps into common rotation.

also, i still pray for reworks for older heroes😭 If Hulk came out today, he’d be amazing.

LARPERS TRIED , VANGUARDS CRIED, DUELIST IN 5!!!

I don’t care what anyone else says, I wanted him to be a duelist since season 0. And I am NOT a Main of any role, I play everything.

I know duelist get added everyday, but if i’m being honest, just because they add a new duelist doesn’t mean i’ll play it ? I don’t play black cat, Didn’t play elsa, pretty sure nobody plays DPS Pool probably until recent with the buff. But Cyclops ?! I’d love to play cyclops !

Only a select few DPS I look forward to
Cyclops, Miles Morales, Quicksilver and Prowler. I don’t care who gets added afterwards, Hell i’m also excited to play any tank that gets added and I’ve heard rumors of professor X being a mind controlling strategist ?

While i feel as though , I may or may not get Miles as a DPS or Quicksilver, If Cyclops is a DPS i’m happy with that? If he’s not? which i doubt, I’m fine with that too!

These are all i know that have been rumored but we all the hood is coming. With that being said , If Cyclops is duelist, I really don’t think it’s the end of the world as people make it seem. I didn’t expect the hood to be a Vanguard, kinda would’ve thought him to be a strategist? but he’s a shield and possibly hitscan. I feel like tanks needs more shields than anything, I always wanted cyclops dps but if isn’t i’ll still play him. I don’t understand the cry baby behavior a lot of these adults are doing on reddit or twitter.
