Are there any days/times that are better for finding new items that have been out on the floor? I’ve scanned this sub and have seen one response saying there are 3 trucks per week, and Mon and Wed are good days. I imagine items are put out all through the day, but just curious if there’s a sweet spot.
And I’m not looking for anything specific, just the normal things I waste money on like lamps, soap, candles, towels.
I visit the same Sonic in central Arkansas pretty regularly. I usually go through the drive through and only order a few drinks. I always pay in cash. Recently, the store I visit has a guy in the DT window who keeps my change. He didn’t ask. I certainly didn’t tell him to keep it. But every day he keeps my loose change. He generally closes the window and walks off immediately after and I’ve seen it as not worth the hassle to bring it up. But-The other day, just to test it out, I added an extra item and paid with a larger bill. He kept the loose change, but also the $2 in ones I was due. I was due $7.48 and he handed me a $5 and closed the window.
He finally had to come back over b/c there were cars lining up behind me and when I asked him about it he rolled his eyes, got my $2 (kept the loose change still) and slammed the window. WTF is up? Am I missing something? How do I address this without being an asshole. I go to this store too often to have them mad at me and I go to the DT b/c I DO NOT want to tip a carhop for bringing out my food.
At a nice, local restaurant recently that asked how I wanted pork chops cooked. Chops were bone in and described as “Tomahawk”. I never know how to answer-besides saying “165 degrees while retaining as much moisture as possible,” but I’m sure you can imagine the look on a server’s face if I said that. So I went with Med Well. They brought out a pork chop that was completely raw in the middle. I don’t mean like a little pink juice, I mean like cold, slimy, translucent flesh that had not been heated. If it was a steak I’d say it was a Med Rare, leaning rare.
What’s the right answer to “how would you like your pork chops cooked?”
Here’s about 15 years of collecting (my non GD albums are in another room). I’m thinking of selling my turntable and all my equipment as I just don’t use it anymore and almost all the GD stuff is available online with great quality. Haven’t quite made the decision yet, but who knows. When I lived alone I entertained constantly; always had a record spinning. I haven’t spun a record in ten years. I still buy, because I can’t seem to stop, but I haven’t opened a record in ten years either. Maybe it’s time for a daily disc post to get me back into them.
Note: I posted a pic like this 4 or 5 years ago. Got major grief about all the unopened stuff. Look-I’m gay, have no kids and am financially secure. I have plenty of disposable income and I can’t spend it all on cologne and my chihuahua so I buy records. If someone comes over and wants to listed to one, I’ll open it. But since I can listen to it all online I just buy them and add em to the spreadsheet. So please, I get that you may think I should listen to them all, all the time. But that’s just where I’m at.
I picked this turntable up in 2011 while working at a record store in Denver (Twist and Shout). A guy bought a storage unit and brought in four or five different units to sell. When I saw this one I fell in love. It was priced at $275 by the store owner, and I got an employee discount on top of that. I think I remember paying about $150 otd. I used it for many years when I lived alone and would entertain more, but I probably haven’t listened to a record in ten years. It only has a 33rpm motor, so no 45 listening. I think it’s lucite and it is heavy.
Anybody know anything about this specific model? When it was made? What it’s worth? Included pics of the manual that came with it just in case someone has one and hasn’t seen it.
