I hate the flanderization of Percy Jackson
Throughout the Percy Jackson series, Percy's character has shifted so greatly that it doesn't even appear to be the same character anymore. At the start of the series, Percy is an intelligent kid, even if his low self-confidence keeps him from seeing that. He's brave and willing to do whatever it takes to help his friends, even if it means rushing into danger. Annabeth was always the "smart character" in the series, but often she and Percy didn't have that far of a gap in intelligence, wit, and strength. Nowadays, in some of the most recent books, Percy is an actual moron who couldn't get his head out of a paper bag if he had a thousand years. He's almost completely reliant on Annabeth instead of having any sort of intelligence or independence. His powers are seemingly diminished, and he's become such a wimp that he goes so far as to literally piss his pants in the face of danger. This angers me because Percy was always such a relatable character, but now Riordan has essentially just turned him into comedic relief.
