No one seems to have reported on the governor vetoing HB16 to limit campaign contributions

Also there’s another, HJR 31, to amend the state constitution to prohibit corporate contributions and expenditures in local elections. This is part of the bigger “Montana Plan” each state is taking on, which Hawaii successfully enacted. I seem to get conflicting info on whether that one has died, anyone able to clarify?

Trump’s new commission will target quality of life for military spouses

Not sure why Christie Mullin, the wife of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, is on this commission…

I can’t get a photo of them being still but these guys keep flying in and out of a hole in my raised bed. Bee? Wasp?

I thought it would be unusual for bees to be in a raised bed, but there’s so many of them and their general shape seemed to suggest bee. I have been stung twice for watering that raised bed. Would this be unusual for bees, or are they wasps?

Are hearing examiners to make land use decisions something required in all cities? Is it a good or bad thing?

I’m just trying to understand this—I’ve moved around a lot and other states seem to use municipal or county planning divisions to make decisions on where warehousing or mining developments go. Here in WA it seems to be up to a single “unbiased” lawyer with no environmental background. Help me understand why?

Something is going on with the bobbin thread and making biiiiig loops that get stuck? Singer 99 handcrank

Trying to figure out why there’s these huge loops that get stuck and I have to pull out. I’ve checked the threading path , tension, and that the bobbin is wound and inserted correctly. Cleaned the bobbin area of lint and oiled the parts. It’s a machine that’s still new to me but haven’t been able to successfully stitch on it yet.

Hawaii just defanged Citizens United!

SB 2471 SD2 HD2 CD2 RELATING TO THE POWERS OF ARTIFICIAL PERSONS (Corporate Donations)
Act 011 (SB 2471 SD2 HD2 CD2) restricts certain political spending activities by corporations and other “artificial persons” under Hawaiʻi law by redefining and limiting the powers granted to those entities. Political action committees will remain governed by existing campaign finance laws within the state, but they will not be able to spend any money received from corporations as a result of this Act.

This bill is intended to strengthen transparency, reduce the influence of corporate money in elections and help restore public trust in Hawaiʻi’s democratic process. (Act 011 takes effect July 1, 2027.)
