i dated someone with the same name as me: AMA

i missed the action on the thread from a couple names ago asking sub members if they’ve ever dated anyone with the same name as them. she and i had the same first name, same spelling, and same last initial (even the same number of characters in our last names). ask me anything!*

*for reddit purposes, i will name us Serena P. :) and no we are no longer together!

gonna be at a water park all day tomorrow and am really fighting the urge to avoid meals

bathing suits have always been my biggest trigger. even the more modest ones hug close to the body. i have a muscular coordination disorder that makes my belly area distend with any meal or beverage regardless of nutritional content, so in the days leading up to being seen in a bathing suit (or a crop top etc) i’ve felt compelled to minimize intake as much as possible. not to lose weight - but to have a flatter look to my tummy.

but now that im in my 30s i have begun to experience the damaging effects of restricting my food. most acutely, i developed reactive hypoglycemia when skipping meals. i was able to go days on barely anything in my youth and feel shitty mentally but functional physically. now? i get dizzy, lightheaded, clammy, and 2 years ago i had seizures from extreme low blood sugar after skipping breakfast and lunch. being that it’s peak summer where i live and there are heat advisory warnings, i literally HAVE to feed myself properly to avoid an emergency room visit tomorrow

i don’t really even know why im writing this. i know the world will keep turning even after belly bloats at the water park tomorrow.

i feel so helpless when stunning women with perfect figures feel the need to edit their photos to this degree

on one hand, it’s comforting to know that the standards we often compare ourselves to are fake… on the other, if someone this close to conventional standards of beauty feels the need to do this, what does that mean for us regular folks? 😓

where are you getting your eyeglasses (in person)?

hi hi! i’m looking for eyeglasses retailers that have narrow or petite frames. youth frames are too small (particularly the lens area itself) but adult frames are comically large and are hard to keep in the correct position on my face

in-person options only please in the US as i need to try them on 🙏🏽 side note im so annoyed that eyeglasses frames are marketed as one size fits all when they are clearly NOT lol

lmao. there’s literally a bisexual woman complaining about “how unfortunate” it is that she is marrying a cishet man because it doesn’t feel “queer enough”. i commented that she should just enjoy the societal benefits of being in a straight relationship and be happy that she doesn’t have to face homophobic discrimination during her wedding planning process. we can guess how that went. i’ll insert the text of the original post in the comments so we can laugh together

i’ll be on the lookout for SAME SEX wedding subs/forums if anyone knows of any since i will be starting the wedding planning process soon. i haven’t been to many weddings and im planning on my own with my fiancée

your natural hair - with the beautiful kinks and glorious curls that come directly out of your scalp - is worthy. worthy without gels and mousses and curl creams and edge controls. worthy without crisp parts and boho knotless. worthy for any trip out the country and any special occasion. worthy because YOU ARE WORTHY 💘

(and yes i’m cheesing so hard that my forehead vein is finna pop out my skull but i am so happy!!!! LET’S GO LESBIANS!!!!)
