Garage Mechanics?

Any garage mechanics in here that do work for others? I have a garage full of bike tools and spare time. Trouble is I don’t know how to start getting customers. Has anyone in here been able to start something like this? The shop I learned everything from was started from a garage, but that was 1971. Not sure it’s doable nowadays. Any advice would be appreciated.

Long Beach Pit Exit Etiquette?

I haven’t raced here much and just wanted to ask what is expected of both pit out car and any traffic that happens to be nearby. Does pit out driver need to find a gap in traffic at the 90 degree exit, waiting near the blue cone at exit? Or are the drivers in traffic expected to slow their entry and provide a full lane for pit out car?

I’d think it’s a combination of both but this is such an odd setup I’d just like to hear a few opinions. Thanks.

Virtual spotter not working at start?

I’ve noticed in FIA cross car lately that at the very beginning the yellow lights don’t work. I’ve had a few incidents where I turn into someone having no clue they’re there.

It seems to happen for the first 5-10 seconds and then the virtual spotter works normally. I know the verbal spotter doesn’t say anything at starts so maybe the same thing?

Any potential fixes in the settings for this? I hate being that guy doing door banging when there’s zero need.

Pit strategy for G87 in Production Endurance?

I was under the impression that for this series using the G87 M2, it was best to run your tank nearly dry, and to fill up and take tires. My stop came almost exactly halfway through so I took full fuel and tires.

This lost me several positions or so. I checked lap times and it looked like I lost something like thirty seconds on my stop. Didn’t miss the lolipop and had good pit in and out.

Where did they all find a half minute on me? I only had about three laps more fuel when I crossed the finish line. There wasn’t any damage to repair either.

Edit: Tires and fuel don’t happen simultaneously anymore. Lesson learned.

Which track has the most dangerous pit entry?

Watkins Glen is where I’ve had the most incidents.

Are there others that attract crashes?

Does the Tesla Cab count? Looked like tires were painted.

Saw one parked today and noticed that the tires are painted gold. That on top of the solid hub cap made it look like a shitty modified car.

Who has bought the new laguna?

On the fence here about buying the new version. I’d like to know about the upgrade. Are track limits still the same? Any big changes you’ve noticed?

How to race with pushy drivers?

lately I’ve been encountering low license, low SR drivers that wants to stick their front fender in when I’ve already started turn in on a fast sweeper. think oran first kink into the turn or le mans kink into Indianapolis

in these cases I’ll react to provide space, often pushing myself off track. but by the rules, I am not sure I have to give any space and I just do so to limit the damage to my race.

im wondering if I’m kinda enabling this behavior to an extent? something like each successful pass, no matter how aggressive, builds confidence to keep the same behavior?

or maybe I’m just not being aggressive enough and need to be more brazen to keep my position?

Determine front wing damage mid race?

so in the event that you get front wing damage in a formula car I’m unaware of how to assess the damage. the crew chief calls damaged wing, there may be reduced downforce. but I think they say the exact same phrase if you’ve fully torn off the wing and thats a different ball game.

is there a quick way to determine the extent of damage besides chunking into the next high speed corner? i know rear wings you can have rear view mirrors to show but cant think of a way to see front wing.

Hank not 100% truthful about Tuco shooting

rewatch number who knows but just noticed a small detail. when Hank is getting debriefed on the Tuco shooting he states that when he arrived he identified himself and asked to see Tucos hands.

but in the actual shooting none of that is said. Hank starts the interaction assuming Tuco is Pinkman. upon his realization of the mistaken identity his exact words is “wow, easy buddy”. and then they start shooting no more words.

obviously Hank isnt in the wrong for shooting Tuco. but why tweak the truth when he didn’t need to?

Texas workforce commission is there for employers, not employees

was fired two months ago. turns out all an employer has to do is just say I didn’t say the word fired. that’s it.

my case was denied even though I provided proof that he told me to leave the company. that decision took a month.

now I’ve been waiting to over a month for an appeal. one hasn’t been scheduled and no one will tell me when one might be scheduled. and shockingly I’m running out of money and time

all along this only helps the employer who fired the employee. it’s meant to force us back into the job market instead of carefully searching for the right job. once again, our state cares very little for the individuals that aren’t billionaires.

edit: voted blue my whole life. So proud I can say I never once voted for Mr. Grab ‘em by the pussy.

Resources for building an elevated hill with a train tunnel?

hey folks. it’s that time of year again where I start to consider my village and what improvements should be made. last year I did the important step of moving everything to MILS. this year I want to elevate a significant part of the layout and run some of the train tracks there.

I know the trick of using Duplo (sadly donated some I ended up with a few years ago before I knew). What I’m looking for is how I can build ramps or trails up a mountain slope. What pieces there are that work best for this?

and most importantly how do you go about MILS on higer level? Obviously you can’t directly attach the base plate to a stud. Is it just easier to build the landscape straight onto the elevated tunnel?

Finished my brittle green sopwith camel 10226

had always wanted this because it’s technically a war machine and yet it’s a full blown LEGO set. picked this up on craigslist for $50.

was surprised to find that the brittle brown from that era is stronger than the dark green. lego doesn’t make some of what I needed but a quick bricklink order fixed that. Was able to use one broken piece to make a bullet hole in the top right wing

was an interesting and very unique build. really cool how the controls operate and wings are held together partially by tension on the black ties.

Advanced Miata at COTA is great!

those that like the miata should really consider COTA this weekend. Done several this week and because the track is as wide as a football field (not really but close haha) side by side racing is easy. corners have wide entry’s that invite but punish dive bombs. the tracks elevation provides fun even if you’re running solo. about the only bad thing is track limits are tight but once you learn them it’s very fun.

as of now, an employer can verbally abuse an employee, curse them out daily, push their religious beliefs upon you, ask you to do unethical and borderline illegal things; and all of that is okay in the eyes of Texas.

so what exactly is illegal for an employer to do to an employee? can they do basically anything they want to their employees up to physically hurting them?

this state seems to give employers all the protections while workers are expected to deal with it or be unemployed.
