My Work Here Is Done

Project wifey-mobile got its last significant mod yesterday; wheels!

4x OEM Audi R8 gen 2 wheels (fully forged), individually sourced then refurbished in satin black to make a matching set. Finished with some custom centre caps in the same colours as the car.

Wife is happy, and I’m happy to be done!

List of modifications to our Born VZ First Edition:

- Lowered suspension (Racingline springs)
- CSR splitter
- Front windows tinted (lightest shade)
- Vinyl wrap
- R8 front wheels, in satin black all round.
- 10mm rear spacers
- Gtechniq ceramic coating to wrap and wheels
- Blackvue dashcams (front and rear) with battery
- Aftermarket mount for MagSafe charger
- Painted the rear badge in gloss black. Front badge wrapped.

Lap of Donington in my Audi TTRS

Main modifications;

- Tuned to 425bhp
- Custom coilover suspension
- AP9660 front brakes on BTCC discs
- Semi-slick tyres (AD09)

I have a DJI Osmo camera in the car, but I think the POV from the meta glasses I shot this vid on looks better! Shame you’re restricted to 3min recording though.

And yes - that’s a Cappuccino!

Project Wifey-Mobile

Just got a Born VZ First Edition a month ago - and making it our own.

So far;

- Wrapped 3M Satin Dark Grey and gloss black
- Gtechniq halo coating
- Light tint to front windows
- Lowered on Racingline springs

Plans;
- BBS CI-R wheels
- CSR splitter
- Assign private plate
- Blackvue dashcams

N.B. had an odd issue with my first attempt at lowering - the H&R springs didn’t lower the car at all! (Yes - definitely the right part number). Autodoc have said they’ll process a warranty claim and cover the labour to swap them so let’s see. I’ve attached a pic. Be warned!

Back in November, a BMW 5-series ran into the back of my S8+ slightly damaging the rear bumper and (more significantly) cracking the carbon trim at the bottom.

The repair was delayed because the driver was visiting from Germany and as soon as there was some question whether he was insured or not, the claim’s handling company for my insurer (Admiral) wouldn’t touch it.

It was further delayed because that carbon part was hard to get hold of - took weeks to arrive and then the first one arrived damaged!

Finally got it fixed at my bodyshop of choice, on the other driver’s insurance. Very happy with the work done by SL Restorations in Crawley - as ever. As well as the paintwork, they re-coated the rear bumper (gtechniq ceramic coating) and applied a PPF luggage strip.
