Catching up to Rahen, and man, I love Doppo glaze the most. Not only is it by proxy, Karate glaze, but holy is this man just cool as shit.

ITAGAKI, GIVE ME MORE KARATE GLAZE, AND MY LIFE, IS YOURS!!!!!

Would be cool if he touched on Okinawan Karate styles too.

(Loved Trope) Afro, Martial Arts Masters

Now here's a trope I KNOW, you never thought of. The Black Martial Arts Master with an Afro. Truly a classic, but unfortunately, slow forgotten design. Really had had it rolling in the 80s, with Blaxsplotation movies, and then in games and eventually other media. A truly simple a great design, that I miss in modern times.

  1. Jim Kelly - irl. Jim is a legendary Karate master, and probably the origin of the trope in other media. He worked in many movies, was a character in Bruce Lee's, Enter the Dragon. And Starred in his own movies like Black Belt Jones. The OG of looking Cool and Clean ASF.

  2. Black Dynamite - Black Dynamite. The great Black Dynamite, who is a master of multiple Martial Arts, but you better not come interrupting his Kung Fu training. Is actually written as a grand parody and homage, to the then dead Blaxsplotation era of movies, but truly carries what their spirit was.

  3. The Legendary Bushido Brown - the Boondocks. Legendary Karate master, bodyguard to Opera and survivor of the deadly Kumite tournament. Bushido Brown is probably the more popular of characters inspired by Jim Kelly. But truly shown his greatness, in the little time he had.

  4. Afro Samurai - Afro Samurai. Mastered of the Katana and became a true demon that sought revenge. Afro is probably the only non Jim Kelly character here, and truly stands as a representation of the desire to be a Samurai, while also asking you, what does it mean to weild a Blade?

All in All, this trope is specifically about Black master martial artists with Afro's, but I know people post Mr Satan or someone Count Dante adjacent(btw its not an Afro, if you're not African, its a Fro/Puffy Hair). But yeah, hope you enjoyed

"BlaDe IsN't poPulaR AnymorE"

He will always be, and remain to be, the GOAT of Marvel.

This is kinda just kind of a Jab at the fact that alot of Blade content is killed off recently. From the Movie, to the Game, to his comics, to even damn Marvel Rivals and its community.

I just want my goat to get the spotlight he DESERVES.

Rate my writing of the Goat

Even though it means nothing now, this how it first felt

Y'all don't study history

Modern Kickboxing owes almost everything it is to Karate. And for the record I'm counting styles like Muay Thai, Savate and the like as their own arts. Hell American Kickboxing is straight up the descendant of American Karate.

Though the hate luckily decreases as more Karatekas shine today, I hope this history lesson finds y'all well.

For we ALL know we do Karate, at heart.

Edit: I've actually been reminded that Karate comes from Kung Fu, so screw it, I'm doubling down. EVERYBODY WAS ACTUALLY KUNG FU FIGHTING.

(Also fixed some spelling errors that clear things up)

Cabbage, Onion and potato stew.

Howdy, me again. Tasted way better than what I was expecting, even though it looks horrendous, but then again, I'll eat anything at this point ngl.

I've been enlightened to Canned beans, sausage and rice

First time post here and related to almost everything I see. Broke Uni student with only funding from my parents, am in my 2nd year of 4 and have only just recently solidified the concept of proper cooking.

Canned Baked beans are always my go to, and this is the first time I've added sausage(Its cut really small and is basically mince now) into it. Goddamn it adds alot.

I'm greatful to my parents for the cash they can send me, but DAMN does anyone know if it gets easier?

Want to try fish and cabbage next. Also random shout to tomato and onion being the base of literally EVERY dinner I make.

Y'all ever effectively used Toe stepping before?

I feel like this is one of those moves that can get you way better positions than you can imagine, in any combat sport. I mean the fact that it's "Illegal" speaks volumes to what it can do, right?

Being a martial arts media fan SUCKS!!!

MY DAYS its sucks to be a consumer of fictional matial arts media. Don't get me wrong, there's many great Manga/Manhwa and the like out there, but after 6 years of being an dedicated reader, I can effectively say, I've run out.

Yes I've read/am reading all the big ones; the Baki series, KENGAN ASHURA and the rest of the Sandroverse, Garouden, Tough, Hajime no Ippo, All Rounder Meguru, RedBlue, Little Karate Prince, Lookism and the Rest of the PTJ verse, Study Group, How to Fight, King of the Octagon, God of Highschool and so much more...

I've come to read the more obscure but amazing manga/manhwa like; Bataque, RRR, Rikudou, Taekwondo Kid and the Breakers to name a few.

And that's where the real martial arts series end. I've become a big fan of **some** Isekai and Murim(a type of martial arts hero story) manhwa, bit good Lord to they Oversaturate what the genre of "Martial Arts" is, mind you Isekai and Murim manhwa don't even have proper displays of martial arts in the first place, it'll be some mf using the "18 methods destroying Sword" and all they do is throw energy beams everywhere. So the genre is, to say the least, lost.

Its come to the point where I've finally read stories with only like 30 chapters, The manga in the picture provide, is a Shotokan Karate story called Hanza Sky, in the 30ish chapters translated, its shown beautiful displays of Karate and the people that follow it. BUT IT ONLY HAS 30 CHAPTERS TRANSLATED, **MIND YOU** the story is apparently fully complete like 6 years ago and no ones picked it up since.

All in all, the genre right now isn't in a good state, there are new and good stories coming out like Invincible Meguru and Mumumu. But I don't know man, I'm just tired of seeing the genre taken over by the equivalent of action movies like Fast and Furious in the same category as Best of the Best, I just hope for actual martial arts series.

Thank you for reading.

What are your thoughts on hand-to-hand striking techniques? There are so many different types, and people only think of fists. Which martial arts excel at these hand-to-hand techniques?

Fucking Magnificent

Bravo Pinakataka,

If you see this, thank you

You made one of the best stories I've read in my recent life. No words can describe the joy and other emotions I felt reading this story. Comparing CONVICT COLLOSEUM to KENGAN ASHURA doesn't do it the justice it Deserves.

CC is truly an Original experience like no other and stands as a truly great display of Story and Martial Arts.

I truly hope you can continue to make the art you desire and look forward to that Greatness.

Greet experience

Osu, me again, I'm back training and had a truly great experience.

I was the only one training in the dojo today, because everyone else is busy with exams and other University work.

Its was truly a unique experience doing solo training like that. My dojo is in my Uni's gym and can be looked into from the second floor.

I did exercises and Kata with some cardio and shadow boxing to end. And as I worked I felt more in-tune with my training than before, even with passersby looking in here and there, with more eyes looking in as I refined my Kata and worked on my Kiai, which truly felt great as a refined and tweaked it by my lonesome.

The highlight of my day was meeting another Karateka who came in to practice 1 Kata of his own. He said he was from a Shorinji style (can't remember the fullname) and it was truly amazing seeing these new form and how different they where from mine.

His Kata was more fluid, but firm, and had many flowing motions. Truly amazing. He even said he might join us to train next time.

This solitary training truly helped me understand how much I actually care for and look forward to my future in Kyokushin Karate. I truly hope for grand things along the way. OSU
