Dubuque Teacher Charged With Possession of CSA Materials
A teacher at Hempstead High School in Dubuque was charged with creating and possessing CSA materials.
>Andrew Robert Roos, 35, was charged with six counts in an indictment unsealed in United States District Court in Cedar Rapids. The indictment alleges that over several years, Roos tried to persuade and entice minors to engage in sexually explicit conduct to produce visual depictions of that conduct.
>The charges also allege he distributed, transported, received and possessed child pornography. If convicted on all charges, Roos faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison.
>He could face up to 120 years in prison and supervised release for life following any imprisonment. Roos is set to appear in federal court in Cedar Rapids for an arraignment Friday.
His dad also taught at the school for over 20 years and was still teaching up until he passed from cancer in 2004. His dad was a very popular teacher and I had him as one of my teachers. Andrew deserves to be punished but at the same time I feel bad for his parents because of the shadow he cast on their legacies.
