The Vaudai conspiracy theory thread—what’s it really doing?

I’ll start. Looking to see what you all think it’s up to. And I make no promises that anything I posit could have an ounce of reality…YMMV!

First off, there is, apparently, maybe, only one of this species, whereas almost all other moeties have entire breeding populations in service. How, why? Could he be the only one of its kind?

Yet Vaudai is smart. Except for ennui, it doesn’t even seem to be particularly bothered by slavery. We know the Carryx only allow species to live that add to their strength, so Vaudai fits the bill.

Maybe he willingly joined them just to see and do some interesting things.

He also has some extremely confident prophecies and pronunciations of Carryx thinking and nature. Vaudai apparently knows, really knows, about the Carryx.

Could he be 10,000 years old? Perhaps this explains why he is so certain that they will never know peace.

My personal conspiracy theory is, Vaudai will be a big crux to the final overthrow of the Carryx. It is a scientist who may have been gathering data about the Carryx for millenium. Maybe he’s not even a slave, he’s a volunteer doing it for the hell of it.

And its specialty is strategy and future thinking. It’s a “gray man” type of creature—Vaudai almost seems like even the Carryx don’t interact with it a lot. He’s just…there…but also absorbing and studying the how and what the Carryx are doing in their war.

And in the end, Vaudai will give the human moeity of Anjin some crucial piece or pieces of information that will allow them to triumph. The question is, does it know what that “triumph” will mean…?

Okay, that’s it…put your theories up here!

Is SoCal Edison actually replacing electricity meters in Torrance?

Got a flyer on my doorknob saying I need to leave the gate open so they can come and replace the meter. Has anyone else had this? SCE and no one on the other end had the slightest clue what I was talking about.

Fighting on Tarawa…Kerr Eby

From James Jones’ (From Here to Eternity, The Big Red One, etc) book WWII with a caption that has haunted me since I first read it decades ago (upper left in pic).

“Fighting on Tarawa left little room to hide for desperate men.”

What is this (possibly) undesignated fuse in engine bay box?

Arrow points at it. Yellow-ish but not quite the same as other yellow. Not shown on diagram. No visible amperage. What is this?

Fascinating tally of reasons for combat losses of P38/P51/P47

Check out this listing! A lot of Mustangs lost to strafing airfields, and Thunderbolts to flak busting.

Cool WW2-era on the sight picture from P47/P51/P38/P40

Saw this and was quite interested in the view over the engine or nose of those four aircraft, especially the P38.
