saw a silly drawing template being spread around on the internet, which conveniently has 8 people and chaotic energy.

am considering drawing SKZ with this template. give me recs for who gets each spot.

(...btw, I will be using this template once for either SKZ or ATEEZ depending on which fandom gives me the funnier & more fitting arguments for distributing the roles to their group. I'm a multistan who loves both groups a lot, but drawing both groups veers towards being too much work for me.)

So I got bored and decided trying to work out a xikers Pokémon AU was a good idea.

Naturally, this meant me scrolling the Pokédex site to build a full team of 6 for each of the 10 members. ...yes, I lack a life.

Rule #1: They're just normal guys in the Pokémon universe. No legendaries, mythicals, or other super-rare Pokémon that aren't obtainable through standard means.

When it came to how powerful I wanted their teams to be, I wanted it to be similar to the teams NPCs such as Gym Leaders run in the main-line games. Not designed for competitive, carrying a few powerful Pokémon but also a few "mid" Pokémon that are not objectively the strongest. Vibes/lore > competitive meta.

Similarly, I also decided to build type-specialized themes. Partially also just to narrow things down a little bit and make this slightly more do-able.

Rule #2: 5 Pokémon that share one type, 1 "counter" that doesn't. Monotype teams are known for being infamously predictable, but xikers' lore is all about them being tricksters, so there's one surprise Pokémon that doesn't fit the type specialist theme.

General lore for the AU, xikers run a haunted house battle gauntlet, kind of like the Battle Chateau, but it's spooky and challengers will get jumped Lumiose Battle Zone style. The house is full of secret passageways and stuff but it's still a building with narrow corridors and limited space, so they can't have too many giant Pokémon.

Now, everything from here on is my "first draft". I filled out all of the teams, but you guys give suggestions for how to make these better.

Minjae: ghost team. Mismagius, Sableye, Mimikyu, Banette, Falinks, Cerulege

something about Falinks' army/team motif fits him being the leader. And Cerulege is like the perfect Pokémon for xikers' concept as it's a Fire/Ghost type with a blue fire motif.

Junmin: fire team. Armarouge, Arcanine, Ninetails, Leafeon, Chandelure, Flareon

Armarouge being the opposite branch evolution to Cerulege, Chandelure fits the haunted house setting, 2 Eeveelutions because Junmin loves Eevee. Him being the fire specialist is kinda not negotiable since he's confirmed in an interview that Flareon is his favourite Eeveelution, so I made it his ace.

Sumin: dragon team. Kommo-o, Hydrapple, Dragapult, Haxorus, Grafaiai, Noivern

Kommo-o and Noivern are associated with sound, Hydrapple is food-themed and Sumin is one of xikers' team cooks, Grafaiai because he's the artist member.

Jinsik: psychic team. Chimecho, Espeon, Indeedee, Liepard, Gallade, Meowstic

Chimecho is associated with sound, Espeon, Indeedee, Liepard, and Meowstic are all varying degrees of "cat". Also Liepard is a cat that robs people, which is perfectly fitting to anyone who's watched Chase, Snatch, Steal.

Hyunwoo: dark team. Obstagoon, Zoroark, Umbreon, Absol, Drifblim, Thievul

Obstagoon is associated with rockstars, Zoroark and Thievul are foxes, Zoroark is also an illusions-based trickster.

Junghoon: steel team. Corviknight, Perrserker, Scizor, Aegislash, Vaporeon, Metagross

Perrserker is a cat, his ssaknimals mascot is a cat (for some reason). But also... it's really hard to build a steel team that's mostly humanoid-sized or smaller Pokémon capable of fitting in the haunted house's corridors.

Seeun: poison team. Gengar, Crobat, Roserade, Toxitricity, Alolan Raticate, Nidoking

Gengar has the troll/prankster vibes, Roserade fits the haunted house setting, Toxitricity is music-themed, Raticate and Nidoking are rats, and bats are flying rats if you stretch your imagination enough.

Yujun: fairy team. Alcremie, Sylveon, Mawile, Claydol, Tinkaton, Dachsbun

Dachsbun has to be the perfect ace Pokémon for him as it's a cute food-themed dog. Alcremie is also food-themed, and Yujun's known as the group's resident snack hoarder/foodie. Mawile and Tinkaton are classic "cute but also a menace" Pokémon. I also think him being the fairy type specialist is relatively not negotiable because he's the fake maknae whose constantly seen as the cutesy one despite also being a chaotic prankster/menace in his own right, and... come on he's like the IRL representation of Baby Doll Eyes.

Hunter: rock team. Barbaracle, Carbink, Sudowoodo, Scovillain, Tyranitar, Lycanroc

Just based on vibes I want his ace to be Dusk Form Lycanroc. It's also conveniently a wolf. Scovillain is food-themed and Hunter's the other team cook aside from Sumin. Tyranitar is inspired by Godzilla and one of Hunter's dogs is named Godzilla.

Yechan: electric team. Jolteon, Morpeko, Voltorb, Vikavolt, Weavile, Luxray

Luxray and Weavile are cats/cat-like. Morpeko is cute but also an energetic chaos-causer.

Why are there so many Eeveelutions? I think it's funny from a "lore" standpoint that the haunted house happens to be on top of a wild Eevee colony so Junmin's just adopted a slightly ridiculous amount of Eevees and now they have a lot of Eeveelutions out of convenience.

Putting this out into the void now, hope someone cares.

I'm looking to expand my GG stanlist a bit as I've noticed I've leaned hard into BGs over the past few years.

only thing is I'm a carkpop comment section lurker with a heavy preference for rap. now I know K-pop rap is kinda questionable but there are undeniably some groups with talent.

my music taste: mixed, but I genuinely enjoy 4th gen's "noise music" bubble. my current ults are xikers, my previous longtime ults were Stray Kids. the group that got me into K-pop was BLACKPINK.

now, obvious suggestions, which I've checked out to a limited degree:

i-dle: love Soyeon, she's amazing. unfortunately, I find I enjoy K-pop groups that have a rap line- more than one member who usually raps. i-dle is kinda carried by Soyeon in the rap department.

Dreamcatcher: love their concept, love Dami, but once again, they're kinda carried by Dami in the rap aspect. though tbh I've only listened to like 1/2 to 1/3 of their title tracks and a few select b-sides. Insomias with good underrated Dreamcatcher recs, feel free to put them here.

Young Posse: i've heard of them from carkpop but the amount of controversies they get in scare me. I'm okay with a small or quiet fandom, but I really want a chill fandom, not one that makes me have a moral crisis on whether it's right to support these idols.

H//PE PRINCESS: also heard of from carkpop, but then I heard Stolen and was disappointed by the amount of rap in it. for the amount of hype they got for being the next big rapper GG I just was really expecting longer verses. I think their K-pop/J-pop blend concept is cool though. I'm open to K-pop adjacent global groups.

XG: if we still count them. love XG. amazing rapline. unfortunately their songs are hit or miss because half of their title tracks still lean more chill and vocal-focused while I love noise and energy. i literally do not care how good the vocal line is, i only care for the rap line.

past me would say I'm faceblind, but being fr, if the music is good enough and there's entertaining variety to binge with english subtitles, I will commit myself to memorizing a large amount of members (current ult is a 10 member group, all 24 tripleS members memorized).

variety-wise, once again, I love loud and energetic. groups that talk over each other and don't stop getting up to chaos, who compete with all their hearts even at silly games. tripleS Badge War is peak K-pop variety imo. i don't watch vlogs even for my ults, just because there's not as much silly chaos.

it does not have to be a super popular group. if they're so nugu they don't have english subtitles on their content, I'll definitely struggle more to get into them as I don't understand Korean. but like a mid-tier group is totally fine. if the music is good enough I will go promote them with all of my chronically online delusions (source: my account history and my tendency to write essays about xikers or tripleS to randos on reddit).

please recommend active groups though. I love comeback cycle hype and again, it's easier to get into a group if you know they'll be releasing more music.

last note: I'm a '09 liner and I don't feel comfortable stanning idols too close in age to me because it makes me compare myself to them. I prefer idols to be a few years older than me. xikers having a '05 maknae is fine, tripleS '07 line is fine I guess, but like '08 and younger makes me feel old. but then again if the music is good enough, it can bypass this.

go ahead and recommend some groups and some songs to check out. I'll rate the songs once I get to listen to them to narrow down the range.

TL;DR: recommend some active rap-heavy GGs to this noise music fan

I'm bored and lack a life so I'm jumping on this bandwagon.

I became involved in the K-pop community in 2022 (got interested in K-pop in 2020, but that was mainly limited to BLACKPINK). I am quite chronically online so for many groups, I can name a decent amount of the members even if I'm not a fan of their music or other content.

I'd say my knowledge probably starts rapidly falling apart with older gens though, as I only know the most popular groups from gen 2/3.

It’s been a while since one of these “describe a k-pop group in a wild/weird/funny way” posts were done. I know they’re not particularly original, but they’re fun, so let’s do it again.

I know some of you out there follow groups that debuted after the last one of these went out, so we’ll be seeing some new stuff. And for those who follow older groups, try to come up with a new weird joke description for the group!
