Ignored minor roof damage after a storm… now I’m paying for it
Last year during a pretty bad storm, part of my roof got damaged. At the time it didn’t seem so bad and I patched what I could and figured I’d deal with it properly later. Big mistake apparently, because the situation’s been slowly snowballing ever since.
It’s not like there’s a giant hole where I can lie in bed and look at the stars, but you can feel the house changes. There’s this constant damp smell now, mold has started to grow in a couple of corners, and the temperature inside makes no sense anymore like freezing at night, hot during the day. Feels like the roof insulation just gave up and clocked out.
I thought about hiring our local roofing company to actually inspect and fix the whole thing before it gets even worse, but now I’m wondering how long it can take and how much I’ll eventually pay for this?
Has anyone here dealt with storm roof damage that got progressively worse over time?
Mostly curious how long repairs realistically took and whether they ended up finding way more damage underneath once they opened everything up
