Don Diego playing with shadow puppetry (Douglas Fairbanks, 1920)
Prior to 1920, Douglas Fairbanks’s film career was largely comedy—which made him perfectly equipped, as Don Diego, to play the bungling foppish dandy so no-one suspects that he is really EL ZORRO!
Long before there were any official Star Wars sets, this was my Darth Vader (recreated here in Studio)
My very first pennywhistle, 32 years later
Bought it at a folk music store after watching Secret of Roan Inish. I don’t play this one much anymore but I do use it to demonstrate the physics of sound to my students a few times a year.
Interesting headline (before I unfolded it)
I might be willing to make a matching offer
I’m putting together a small portable homemade Santorini set (with Lego), and I’m wondering how many blocks and domes I ought to include. In your experience, how many blocks and domes does a typical match actually use? BoardGameArena stats say an average player uses about 10 blocks and 1 dome, presumably meaning a total of 20 blocks and 2 domes… but I’ve read that the original game came with 75(!) blocks and 10 domes. (I think 25 of the blocks were used to form the 5x5 playing surface itself, but still, 50 blocks seems like a lot.) What do you think?
