Not removing milk well all of the sudden

So my 4 month old (18 weeks) all of the sudden will be sucking sucking sucking but not effectively removing milk. No letdowns are happening except for maybe the initial one and she isnt actively swallowing most of the time. It doesnt really matter how long shes on the breast, her sucking just isn't doing it. Her latch looks okay to me and we've never had this issue before so Im not sure why this would be happening.

For more context:

She gets bottles at daycare but until this past week was fine going between bottles and nursing when at home.

She just got her first cold, Friday afternoon.

When i hand express milk sprays out, and when I pump milk comes out too.

Its different from a nursing strike where she would suck and pop off frequently. She isnt refusing the breast; shes just sucking and nothing is coming out 😢

Has anyone ever had this happen before? Any tips on how to help her get milk out? Ive been supplementing with bottles of breast milk, but really would love for her to get full feeds from nursing like she used to. If I need to switch to EP I will but I've been breastfeeding her since she was born and never had this happen

AIO That this isnt normal at all?

This is a situation of someone I know, and I think its insane but just wanted to check, because hes acting like its no big deal. My freind (26F) and her husband (33M) live in an apartment together. Both are on the lease and he pays most of the rent.

They've been having some issues in their marriage (she shared this with me) but overall they are in couples therapy and she thought they were working through things and trying to make it better.

One day, she comes home from an outing with their son (young boy) and her husband has a locksmith in their apartment changing all the inner door locks.

How she explained it to me was that they were having arguments over how to use a spare bedroom and that he wanted it as a space just for him and she wanted it for something else. They'd discussed it in therapy but hadn't decided anything concrete or come to a joint decision. So he got the locksmith to change the locks to essentially force her to let him have the room, since he could now lock himself in I guess and she couldn't do anything about it. He also filled the spare room with all sorts of furniture for gaming and an extra bed for him to sleep on.

She said he originally refused to give her keys to the new locks and after she freaked out and essentially packed up her son and herself to move out he begrudgingly agreed.

Not only is it against the terms of their lease to do that, but i think its absolutely insane that he would do that without her permission. I think it sort of borders on abusive. He keeps telling her he just really needed a space for himself where he can go when they fight and that he didnt mean anything by it. And to save her marriage shes sort of starting to warm up to that idea.

I think the whole situation is insane and would love to hear what people think

Mortified by my toddlers behavior

So today my 3.5 year old boy was having a playdate with a friend of his, a newly 4 year old girl. Me and the other mom were chatting on the couch while the kids ran from the playroom to the little girls room upstairs and down again. They were playing some sort of house where they were putting stuffies to sleep and they kept telling us about it so they were in and out.

After a few minutes of quiet the other mom goes to check on them, as I was holding my newborn. She calls to me saying "(my sons name) took off his pants and underwear and wont let me put them back on". I WAS MORTIFIED.

I could tell the mom was super uncomfortable as im sure her daughter has never really been exposed to the male body like that (shes 4 so without brothers why would she be). On our way home I had a serious conversation with my son about how private parts are only for Mommy and daddy to see if he needs help, and we never undress around other people, especially friends.

When I asked why he took off his pants, he said his friend, the girl, was taking off her skirt to "get ready for bed", which is assume was part of the game. The little girl had shorts on though so nothing was showing.

I plan to keep reinforcing privacy and how that helps keep us safe, but like omg I feel like I can never face this mom again 😭

Dropping the swaddle

I posted this on r/newborns and someone said i should post here too.

So my 17 week old rolled over belly to back for the first time today, so now were officially done with the swaddle. Shes been an ok sleeper most of her life, having 2 or 3 wakeups on average the last couple weeks. The last few days have been the first instances where we had 7+ hour stretches.

I know the first few nights without the swaddle will be difficult but looking for any advice on easing the transition.

Some more context: I wasnt interested in sleep training for teaching her to self soothe yet but now im worried it might be the only way we get back to those long stretches without the swaddle. Has anyone ever bridged the transition to not swaddling without sleep training for self soothing?

I think the swaddle helped her transition between sleep cycles without really waking up and im scared to loose that 😳 I dont mind rocking her to sleep or feeding her at night when she needs obviously but if I can avoid waking every sleep cycle Id like to 😅
