failures of spring 2026 garden

I’ve posted a couple times looking for advice on a few different crops of mine. Well, I’ve lost 2 tomato plants, 2 squash plants but had a wildly successful fall ‘25 harvest on my cherry tomatoes. The difference? I had no idea I should be treating the bulk of my garden as a container garden. I have several raised beds that are the ones on wheels vs the galvanized steel beds on the ground. I also learned the difference between determinate and indeterminate yesterday…. After spending several hours researching, looks like I’ve learned my lesson of not ordering seeds from Amazon & assuming it will all go well. I had 4 indeterminate tomato varieties in 2.5 gallon pots & I couldn’t figure out for the life of me why they were dying & not producing! Well… the answer was in the variety 🤦‍♀️ anyway - here’s my plan for fall. All of the top circles are in ground raised beds besides the highlighted one, which is a 5 gallon pot. There are already beefsteak tomatoes in there going crazy. I’m looking for recommendations on varieties that you swear by for squash, carrots and cherry tomatoes. I’m also wondering when I can start this so I can quit mourning the loss of my spring harvest. I’ve seen late May-late July but don’t want to mess up again.

I need something good to read.. stat!

I have dnf’ed three of the last books I tried. The doctor’s wife, his & hers and rock, paper, scissors. I feel like I’ve melted my brain by reading too much Freida. What can I read that will get me back into reading daily and is a quick(ish) read?

Best zoo in Texas?

We really want to take our 16 month old to a zoo before it gets too hot. We are going to take her to the corpus aquarium in June but want to plan a trip to one before. Where is the most ethical & best zoo in Texas?

Too late to repot?

I didn’t care about this San marzano tomato plant at first since it was an expirement to see if the seeds would even germinate. Now, one of my other tomato plants died so I want this guy to survive and produce well. The bucket is 5 gallons. Should I just cut my losses or leave it? Or do you think that it will still produce well in this 5 gal?
