Best starting exposure and bracket

Just wondering how you guys establish the mid-point for your brackets. If you have a high contrast scene should you look at histogram and find the exposure that is just before you clip highlights? I've just been eyeballing it to what I'd consider an average if I was taking one shot only. But an ETTR middle point just before clipping would in theory be best?

Then I've been unsure of number of frames and stops. I sometimes feel if I allow 2 stop gaps which everyone seems to suggest then my midpoint seems off. I favour 1⅓ gaps and 5 brackets.

What would you recommend?

Dynamic range question using Fuji X

I use Fuji X system. Has anyone done any tests or have any suggestions using DR settings for real estate photography. I bracket using 5 frames of 2 stops usually and combine in LR. I was wondering whether using DR200 or DR400 for each of the exposures would enhance the dynamic range of the combined files. Or perhaps they'd just be overwritten by the HDR processing?

Rehydration salts - sugar?

I'm in my worst flare up ever. Nothing Inc water and broth stays inside and I've had so much diarrhoea. Is sugar in rehydration salts to be avoided? I've been making my own with sugar, salt and water as per NHS guidelines for diarrhoea. But I struggled with night sweats last night and wondered if I had too much sugar. The only pre made one the pharmacy had without sugar has aspartame and rice powder. Would either of these be typical triggers?

I'm so tired and headaches 😞

How do feel about buying from Cinch?

They never seem to publish much in the way of details like number of owners, battery health or service history. Though I suspect you can ask for more 🤷🏼.

If the car is not as expected apparently there's 14 day return. Has anyone bought and regretted?

I'm not near to a Cinch base but they will deliver. But I wonder whether the would wriggle out of any complaint I might have...

No car or charger... Yet...!

I'v3 been wanting an EV for about 8 years since my ex bought her Leaf. In a couple of months I hope to have my own home after renting since our divorce. The house I'm buying has a drive 👍🏼 but doesn't have a smart meter. An electrician looked at the property and has established it's got a 100amp fuse and although it's old wiring he says it should be ok, once a new consumer unit is fitted.

Question. If I find a 2nd hand car I like before move date should I go for it? I'd need to charge at local charge point in my rental town at 60p pkwh

Just seeing prices of 2nd hand EVs going up and don't want them to go up even more. Maybe we've reached a peak now anyway...

I'm in West Somerset, where there's a fair few hills and winding roads.

You hear people talking about motorway driving being less kind to range than urban but I don't seem to hear what the range is like for rural drivers.

Anyone enlighten me? Looking to get an E-Niro.

I should mention that I haven't got an EV yet or the house with a drive! But that will change soon.

When I do move and have the ability to charge at home I'll be looking for a charger to run on Octopus tarif I expect.

  1. I want to spend as little as possible.

  2. I probably won't have the money to get solar panels, but if I do does this change the options.

  3. Should I go for tethered for ease of use? Likely to get a Kia

  4. Could there be an issue with a 1930s house not having correct wiring or fuse for a charger?

  5. I might even get the car before the house which is due in 3 months. Is this stupid? There's a public charge point at 60p kWh nearby that's rarely used. Just thinking ev prices might be going up even more of this war goes on longer. I've noticed 2nd hand prices up by nearly £2k on similar models.

UPDATE, I already have a charger (Ohme intelligent Commando to type 2) which I thought didn't work but I can't test as in storage. But apparently Ohme said it should be fine.
